1. Last year I got a pair of NFL cleats for rugby. they were actually really decent when the weather turned and you're looking for grip come scrum time also came with a hilarious extra "claw" stud at the front. as you can see below which when added to a set of 20mil steel studs resched near WMD status! Rock the Incurza these days, reinforcing my delusions of playing wing. back in my soccer/ GAA days the puma king ruled the roost in nearly every changing room
2. Splitters! I remember when option A used to mean something to people round here...
3. What on earth is the point of that bit? God forbid people should be nice to the people that they work around. So are people who are not pleasant around their workplace the real hard men, or to qualify do you also have to be working (but not working as doctors, lawyers etc, whatever etc means) class? As LFD put it bringing class into sport is wrong, they should be taken at face value on the merits of the game. It is just sad point scoring bullshit otherwise. Union is chess to League's checkers, end of.
4. "No no no son, don' mind that hoity toity shiite Stu was on about, when you get t' ball yeow jus' get boot t' it an fuck it owt touch like this. that passing is for fairies and no son o mine is gonna no bloody fairy! Alrite?" "I love you dad" " Steady on son "
5. exactly. On the upside for him he will make a nice little retirement pot over there playing for a few years and then possibly head to Japan to make silly money for the last few months.
6. He is gone to France next year as far as I know so that rules him out as Lancaster only wants domestically based players. Serially underrated player, some of the shit spoken about him in the media is bolloks. First it was that he can't hack tough situations, even though he has been 10 at one of the best performing English clubs for a few years. Then it was "oh but OF clicks so much better" I think you'll find TF actually measures up quite well in comparison. More importantly he actually goes out to play rugby and gets the line going. Madness
7. I wouldn't put them out of it just yet. I have a feeling this could be a very tight year. Every team look very beatable. If England decide to play Farrell then they are killing their chances. It's shocking that he starts especially seeing as his own club play Hodgson when they need to score tries.
8. Looking at last years 6 Nations thread it seems to me that there are a few on here that are fans so it seems only right that this finest of sports has a home on here. Come on in if you want to talk: -Pro Club rugby -Internationals/Six Nations -Domestic Amateur Leagues -Playing Tips & Advice Feel free to post blogs/articles/videos you recommend. Player/Club/Nation Bashing heartily encouraged. Only thread rule is "rugby" League should only be mentioned in a negative context ITT as it is clearly an abortion of a sport for Carling drinking, slap headed, probable non bean eating peados. To get the ball rolling I'd love to get your take on the whole ERC-Champions Cup- PRL hullabaloo
9. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/republic-of-ireland/10422085/Martin-ONeill-lines-up-Roy-Keane-to-form-dream-Republic-of-Ireland-manager-coach-duo.html# "O’Neill represented Northern Ireland as a player and captained them at the 1982 World Cup, but as a Catholic, as well as the outstanding candidate, he will be warmly welcomed by supporters and media alike." What the clean fuck??
10. I saw these guy in dublin there just a few weeks ago. It was incredible! Mick's 5 min drum solo was a thing to behold
11. Thinking of buying a PC for gaming, nicer player medieval but played shogun which was alright. Just looked at Rome 2 looks class but I'd say it needs a real monster to run!
12. This game is still the daddy! Found a copy of this and its expansion in a TV boxset case the other day and have been playing it non stop. There is nothing better than discovering and meeting with different cultures and then erasing them from the world! Oh and fuck Egypt, I got such sweet release from their eventual destruction. Any other fans here?
13. Fiction: American Psycho by B.E. Ellis or Heart of Darkness by Conrad Huge fan of the John Connolly 'Charlie Parker' series. Non Fiction: The lost Revolution - about the relationship between the left and the IRA in Ireland Anything about Charles Stewart Parnell IMO the GOAT Irishman alongside D O'Connell and...BO'D naturally! The Unfinished Nation- history text book on the United States, always beside my bed ,very well written. The most fascinating place in the world.
14. Shocked nobody has referenced Rocky 7: Adrian's Revenge yet, y'all be slippin'!
15. Rocky IV every time for me. That training montage, gets me fucking jacked every damn time! Fuckin' A! Also this is just incredible!
16. We need a Rugby thread now that I know we have a good few egg chasers on here. As thi thread is now past it's sell by date I'll leave it with a pic that highlights the REAL reason for, and spirit of these tours never mind the Skyperbole. Ladies and gentlemen, the Lions Tour: The Lions: a great bunch of lads!
17. This. He was very harsh on the Aussies giving two penalties for the tighthead slipping which is nonsense. Not a man for allowing resets or for reffing the maul not that we used it at all this series for some insane reason!
18. After a long hard day on the booze I have to say I'm very happy that we won the series, it could be a while before we get another one! I wouldn't say Gatland was vindicated in selection though. Davies had a grand game with no major mistakes regardless of his inferiority to both other 13s but Youngs and Murray both proved again why they should have started. SOB was, as everyone expected, incredible. Turnovers, carries, tackles, the lot. That stat in the 1st half that popped up saying he had 11 tackles already with his closest teammates on 5 was insane! How he was overlooked for the likes of Lydiate this series is shocking. When we started throwing it around and actually playing rugby in the 2nd half I was delighted. Roberts played very well along with North who was my player of the series. Why oh why did he take Johnny off just when the floodgates were opened!? I totally understood his frustration there he was quality today he even stood up a foreward in the tackle to win a scrum, twice! I feel bad for Australia. If they had a 10 who actually could play and distribute and not a good winger who fancies himself one they'd have been far more potent. Deans is a goner and rightfully so. I reckon Mckenzie will do well if its him next. Still we won the series, we even saw some rugby and everybody's happy which is good because its New Zeeland next and I hear those guys are pretty good at this rugby stuff!
19. The two penalties he gave away in the first test were legitimate turnovers and bullshit calls by the ref as was agreed by the vast majority who watched the match. His pen for not rolling away was legit though in the 2nd and as for the pass to Folau there's no doubt he made a handling error but was hardly helped by the nothing run Davies made right flat with him. As for the 6n I don't see how it can be said he was shit considering the extent of the injury list we had, which I have posted here during, he wasn't exactly part of a functioning or settled backline yet still did his role well in all games and put in very good performances against Wales and France. Look I'm not going against the lions at all on Saturday I'm still a big fan it's just the lack of ambition and expansiveness from this side under WG is really for me totally against the lions style. And removing BOD is just sending us further down this route. If we win playing this style ill celebrate, just not nearly as much as I'd like to. It really makes me appreciate having Joe Schmidt as national coach EDIT: just want to add that I actually quite like Davies even though it sounds like I don't! He's much improved from last year.
20. In two tests he's made 23 tackles, a number more in line with a back row foreward than a 2nd centre, for none missed the highest ratio in the squad. Meanwhile Davies missed 3 in the second test alone including a monumental brainfart for the winning try. As for his attacking play he touched the ball 9 times in the entire 80 of the 2nd test thanks to WG's shit box kick heavy defensive tactics and when he did get it it came after slow stodgy ball thanks to a lack of carriers in the pack. All in all I'd say he has been pretty good bar a few uncharacteristic handling errors in the last game. Also it's not really Davies fault playing out of position and all but his timing and reading at 12 was terrible. Murray Kinsella(apologies for the accent in advance!!) did a great little vid on this on his blog here: Davies and O’Driscoll: Centre Combination | The Touchline Also as always, the boys at Whiff of Cordite and Demented Mole have been delivering big time in their analysis. I strongly recommend investing your time in these lads, although they cover mainly Irish stuff, it's truly excellent. Anyone else know of any other good blogs?
21. I think Warren G has listened too much to his selection advisor Nate Dogg when it came to regulating the test side. Where did I leave my coat...
22. What a cunt. What an utter cunt. Regardless of the obvious omission JH has been the most consistent back rower in the tests. Had an excellent game in the 1st and was the only ball carrier in the 2nd up until the point where he was replaced by the only other carrier in the 23. In fairness TF is a good player but why?Mike Phillips has been unfit and slow as shite and I wouldn't be surprised if Mowen takes him to the cleaners again. Good to see tuilagi but what happens if there's a wing injury? Thank god Corbisiero is fit but if there's no quick ball generated this team is pretty fucked. At least there's no Tom Croft...
23. Education for me. I can remember being part of a group debate about this very subject and there were a good few spouting shit like " so and so may be smart/educated but they have no street/life smarts" and using the phrase "book smart" like it was a bad thing. These were the very people who had no actual fucking smarts of any kind to begin with. Not painting anyone here with that brush I'm just recalling a moment of intense fury! Look, in all social and economic strata there exists the perpetually thick, the vacant, the dummies and idiots or whatever you want to call them. And depending on their upbringing and social status their mental deficiencies may not hold them back in instances where they otherwise should. This sad fact of life however doesn't sway me from my belief that a good rounded education is vital in a persons development, intelligent or not, it makes you better at most things. Strong natural intelligence is a magnificent thing but its not really common even though id say there's a lot that think they've got it. In my degree I've worked with people who've actually got it and they blow your mind/crush your spirit with the ease the pick things up whatever it may be. For the rest of us sadly we have to be drilled and coached. And if I shockingly ever become an employer I want my lackeys to be well taught and then well vetted to remove the previously mentioned lucky thickos.
