  1. Did FSG actually realise that we might not have a better chance than where we are right now to make the Top 4 for quite some time? This window was the perfect opportunity to make an extra special effort to back the Manager to give us the best possible chance to get over the line, and all of the lovely team and future buidling opportunities that woud bring and yet we again huffed and puffed but ultimately found ourselves left empty handed. I just don't get it and I'd really like some answers.... A: Are they fucking skint and simply can't afford the investment? B: Are they just stubborn cheap arses who do deals on the basis of "It's on our terms or not at all"? C: Are they semi-delusional and simply expect Brendan to work miracles with small ball resources? D: Do they just not give a fuck full stop about what happens on the pitch and just see Liverpool Football Club as simply a nice commercial revenue stream that adds value to their asset portfolio? All I can say is this and as somebody who was very critical of BR last season I'm delighted to say that I've been tucking into my fair share of humble pie since August and I've gotten bloody fat on it too I'm worried that the answer to the above is Option C which is frankly naiive and unambitious. Anyway....
  2. This latest farce aside, why the fuck can't the club, the owners, Ian Ayre *whoever* just get a fucking deal done in good time? I can't say I'm that I'm pissed off as I honestly didn't expect us to get this done but I would say that I'm just really confused. I'm not totally buying the line from SSN that the President simply refused to sign the paperwork once the buy out clause had been triggerred hence the reason why it didn't happen, surely if that was the case there would be a legal shitstorm heading right for that cunt's desk on Monday morning?
  3. Make or break season for Rodgers? Now I've not exactly been his No1 fan so far but I have to disagree with that statement to a certain extent. If he's not getting the players he wants and we're not improving the first team then how can he realistically be expected to finish any higher than 6th? With the current squad and level of financial backing I would say a 6th place finish should guarantee him another season at least, anything less would be unfair (and probably unrealistic).
  4. I have a bad feeling this may be rearing it's head on deadline day. I'm certain that the inevitable £50M+ bid will come from somewhere that day and I just hope we don't waver.
  5. I suppose we should suspend judgement until the window is closed but the fact that we are struggling to bring in any of our main targets is a worry. Rodgers looked completely pissed off and deflated in yesterday's press conference.
  6. Good assessment. The current owners have the potential to be all we need but we're not going to get back into the Champions League anytime soon by... (a) missing out on all of our main transfer targets because we don't just want to go the extra mile to fend off the competition. (b) by only being prepared to spend money signing kids who might be good footballers one day. As for understanding football, they don't give me the impression that they do really at the moment but I suppose that's going to take time given they are Baseball people. We don't need a Sugadaddy but we do need a Daddy. A fucking strong Daddy who can kick the fuck out of the other Daddies on the street occasionally and when he needs to.
  7. But is he going to improve the current first team, become an immediate regular and help us climb above Spurs and Arsenal THIS season? Doubt it.
  8. Starting to get a little bit pissed off with this transfer policy to be honest because without real time ambition to compete we'll just end up as a money spinning battery farm for when this 'young potential' comes of age and fucks off because they want to to be playing in the Champions League. ...or maybe that's just the perfect execution of the FSG business plan?
  9. I have no idea really I'm just speculating like everybody else. An easy scapegoat I suppose but the buck stops with Henry.
  10. I'd be gutted if we lost this lad because he would refer to play for Spurs but I'm be furious if we lost out only on the basis that we were not prepared to match the bid. I mean for fuck's sake, we've spent nothing at all (net) this summer. Show some fucking ambition please.
  11. Jesus that would be a massive kick in the balls if we lose out on this lad because he would rather play (and thinks he would be better off) at Spurs. Never thought I'd see the day...
  12. On current squad and summer signings I would have to say 6th in the League. FA Cup is and always has been a lottery to predict but I would expect a longer and maybe even a winning run in the League Cup (assuming it's taken seriously that is). In the absence of qualification for the Champions League a Cup win (yes, even the lowly old League Cup) would be massive for Brendan Rogers if not Liverpool Football Club.
  13. For the most part I see a two horse race between City and Chelsea, United will be a distant 3rd.
  14. Oh do please fuck off Luis you're just making yourself sound like a bigger cunt with every passing quote. You have a lot to do to regain anything like that level of 'fans affection' from here so I would suggest you apologise and then keep your mouth shut and you your head down.
  15. It seems like all the Suarez business has in some ways acted as a bit of a smokescreen to hide the fact that we haven't really done that much this summer to show our ambition to climb the table. Like it or not FSG have set out their business model for how they believe we should go about things and they are probably not going to change that anytime soon. I think they have realised now that instant success in modern football at the top of the table pretty much involves throwing a hell of lot of money into a black hole and rightly or wrongly they are simply not prepared to do that as a means to getting us back into the Top 4. So if we are to get back into the Champions League we're going to have to do it on the cheap and hope that we can put together a team and a manager that can all achieve above their level consistently enough to out perform those above us who are spending more. I can't quite figure out whether FSG actually don't have the money and are being forced to live within their means or they do have the money but simply don't have the ambition?
  16. You should change your name to Major Wum.
  17. "Oh Stanley Stanley, Colly Colly Colly Colly Collymore" By some purple faced blurt sat in the lower Kop. Made me laugh. I guess you had to be there.
  18. I seem to remember that right up until the Arsenal game at home we were right up there with an outside chance of a Champions League place. The League Cup win and subsequent run in the FA Cup had a major effect on League results and points in the last 10 or so games of the season following that defeat as our attention naturally turned towards the FA Cup. I'm sure we'll have to agree to disagree but I don't consider last season an improvement. What happens from here on is a different matter of course.
  19. Last season was not an improvement on the one previous. You mean 2 years from now?
  20. Fighting Talk from JW... So that's the fucking end of the matter then, Suarez will not be sold. I would suggest that Suarez starts to think about that apology now otherwise this could get a little bit awkward. Stay or not he's still a shithouse and he's about to learn what it means to betray the love and support of a Kopite. Things will not be the same from here on in mate. How fucking dare you!?
  21. Credit where it's due, I've been enormously pleased and proud to hear Brendan Rogers say what he has in the last 24 hours. Couldn't be a turning point for him with those fans (myself included) who have not exactly taken to him in the way we have other Liverpool Managers. Nice on Brendan.
  22. Haha....there is not much more fickle than a football fan.
  23. I still think that City and/or Chelsea will arrive on the scene at some stage once it becomes apparent that RM are not interested. It's a tough situation but the more I think about it we really cannot agree to sell him to Arsenal it would be seriously detrimental to our own CL ambitions. On the assumption that City, Chelsea and the other one are almost guaranteed a top 4 finish and without stating the fucking obvious that basically means we would be fighting it out with a weakened Spurs (assuming they lose their best player this summer) and Arsenal. It would be madness to do that. If nobody else comes in for him at the right selling price then we simply must take a stance with him that City did with Tevez and bench the cunt until he eventually comes to his senses and realises that he's strangling his own career and prospects by (a) Sulking (b) Not playing © Not giving of his best. I mean as much as we may complain about FSG sometimes it's not as if they/we NEED the money in the sense that H&G did.
