  1. To all those who keep saying he isnt as good as Agger, it makes no difference how good a player you are if your not on the pitch. Same as Torres people keep saying "when he's fit he's the best in the world" the big thing is WHEN! Shawcross imo is a very good defender and very good in the air, what he lacks in ball play can be made up with a good ball playing CM i.e Gerrard or in a perfect world if Alonso was still here, a defenders job is to defend and give it to the better ball players. He's also a threat off attacking corners, he creates havoc in opposition boxes. Rio was overpriced at £30m but after the service he's put in at Utd he's been worth it. Maybe Shawcross for £15m is overpriced at his age if after a season or 2 he's not progressed we recoup the majority of that.
  2. Seriously, if you seen the match your view might change a bit mate. I had a sneaky feeling Mourinho was gonna do a number on them and nick a 1-0 win. After 5mins I realised I was wrong!! Barca were taking the piss at times against a good Madrid side. It was Beautiful to watch honestly.
  3. Are you being serious? What makes you think we would have beat them? Biased view there, we didnt even win the league or CL that year no matter how good of a season we had. This Barca team has proved over the last few years they are capable of winning trophies. Great teams are based of trophies, Arsenal are the best team to watch in the Prem but in 20years whos gonna say they were better than Utd and Chelsea? Not many I doubt simply because they got results and Arsenal never.
  4. Is this the greatest team ever? I think so, better than Brazil 70, any team we built, Utds Treble winners, Arsenals invincibles by a LOONG way. Think not only do they play amazing football, they work hard for each and have a great team spirit, when there manager got pushed everyone of them was there to back him up and fight for him (could you see any of our players doing that for Roy?) they have won everything at club level and the nucleus of the spain team is the Barca team so theyve always won everything internationally too. Xavi is on the verge of being named the greatest spanish player ever according to Marca (which is a massive acheivement because its a Madrid based paper) They are so good its unreal.
  5. Spot on mate, Suso's your typical Spanish flair player, technically he looks out of this world for his age. He will however suffer imensely under Roy.
  6. Seeing that now Llorente's buy out has gone up to 63m euro's, he be the more viable option imo. With regards to Ngog, Carroll has impressed me 10 times more this season than anything Ngog has ever done. Carroll to me has the potential to be very Drogba like, who was Didier Drogba at 21? Once he learns exactly how to use his assest to the fullest then he can be unstopable.
  7. I was wondering, we're on the look out for a new "targetman" like striker. Apparently looking at Dzeko and Llorente, is Andy Carroll worth a mention, he's VERY good in the air, strong and decent with his feet, he also puts in a shift which supporters love. He would be alot cheaper than these 2 aswell. Already in this England game he's knocked a few down for Gerrard running onto, it looks promising. I know he's had problems off field but as I was reading the other day, at the moment he's a big fish in a small pond in Newcastle, the "new" man on the block who everyone wants a piece of, be it good reasons or bad. Also the company he keeps up there is not good, more than a few scrapes he's got into are mainly the fault of his friends. So by taking him away from that enviroment he could shine even more, what do you think?
  8. There's just nobody available at the moment, we missed out on Pellagrini because we gave Roy extra time, how many more managers are we gonna miss out on?
  9. We look poor again, its about time they sacked Hodgson, without Stevie coming on we'd still be losing! Part of Hodgson's severence pay should just be whatever club he goes to he can have Poulson an Konchesky for free instead of his contract payed up
  10. Yes it would go "What am I doing here? I got us Livewpool knocked out in the gwoup stage, playing bowing negative football. Let me leave this dwessing woom, I am so sowwy fow barging in on a weal football managers team talk "
  11. Maybe there agents are actually trying to put pressure on liverpool, Rijkaards now linked with the Roma job, Pelligrini will be appointed at the next fairly ambitious club who sacks there manager. WE NEED TO ACT FAST. It seems they both want the job and are hanging round for it, I may be wrong but thats what I believe, to me Liverpool is a good job for them to take at the moment, no matter how bad we are playing we are not getting relegated we have all our best players off form at the same time, once they pick up form we will start moving up the table, more so with someone else instead of Hodgson, they will look like heroes if we finish top 4-7 and if we dont then after the start we had noone expects us to, pretty much a win-win with no pressure this season.
  12. [quote name=HurdyGurdyMan;2511923Cheshire police were called to Wayne Rooney's house on Thursday night to break up a demonstration which included a banner reading 'If you join City you die'. Around 30 Manchester United supporters' date=' many hooded and wearing balaclavas, stood outside Rooney's Prestbury home and invited the player to come out. When he declined, they unveiled a banner reading 'If you join City, you're dead' as he watched from an upstairs window. [/quote] Stupid idle threats, like that is going to make him change his mind, Stevie said the same thing in his book with the shirt burning it didnt make no difference. By the way, way over the top reaction does somebody deserve to die because they choose to play for someone else, granted they would be considered a prick for going to your rivals but to die? Common sense should preveil.
  13. good points, 2 massive contrasts in where we could go from here. Its a definate fork in the road here
  14. Voted for yes- because the rest are crap, but would now like to retract my vote and change it to get him away from my tv screen, no matter how much potential he has or the attributes he possess he isnt doing it and dont think he ever will here, its unfortunate but I have visions of him leaving here and being a world beater, but then again it wouldnt be totally unbelieveable that he just slips into obsecuraty and we never hear from him again
  15. Fuck him and I hope he fucks off "The Liverpool Way" of sticking by managers will get us relegated if we continue to to be so deep and play with basically 7 men back because even our full-backs dont go forward, I know he didnt play tonight but even Johnson rarely crosses the half way line now we would have one a game like tonights when Rafa was here, he knew how to win ugly when it mattered, this tit knows how to draw 0-0 when it matters. If he gets us relegated or at best finishes 17th it wont matter to some people cos at least we did it "The Liverpool Way".
  16. Some tit told me from one of those "very reliable" source that he's on his way back to Everton, I laughed and said that 1. Moyes wouldnt have him back after suing him and the kisses of the badge to annoy the Bluenose's. 2. There's no way Everton can afford him and 3. How would the Everon fans react to him coming back after the abuse he gets, but my mate told me this "source" has told him Coleen is willing to take if back if he accepts a few terms and apparently this is 1 of them as her and her family and mad Everton fans and want him to go "home". I think its a load of bollocks and just people putting 2 and 2 together and making up a rumour, I laughed at him but it is worth a thought, what you reckon?
  17. Almost forgot! Borrell there aswell, if he could bring in Ten Cate then it would be reminiscent of the old Barca regime, with Kenny instead of Cruyff. Nobody can deny the success of Ten Cate, Borrell and Rijkaard together, they brought through some great prospects and gave them a chance in which they thrived, I've said before but we have the likes Suso, Sterling, Amoo, Ince etc potenial world beaters if given the right help, do you think Hodgson or even Pelligrini for that matter could do a better job at bringing the best out of them than Rijkaard. Rafa's youth system he started could end up paying dividends under the right guidence, we might develop the next Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Pique and sign the next Ronaldinho! We can all dream!
  18. Who would you like to sign in January then in the summer, we have no idea how much player investment will be avialable but ideally who would you sell and sign. I thought and still think after selling Mascarano we should have bought Scott Parker, he's very inderrated and good on the ball, English, very determined and aggressive, failing that would have tried for Cattermole for similiar reasons. Go for Mata aswell and a top class striker, like LLorente.
  19. There's no way he'd be under pressure like he was at Madrid, maybe that would suit him. Similar to the presurre at Villiareal. At the moment either him or Rijkaard would come here solely to "steady the ship" as Hodgson was meant to do!! Good points about his discipline with his players, we all know he controlled Riquelme to a degree despite his personallity, maybe even he could bring him along if he joined, no doubt he'd add unbeliveable creativity to our current negative team.
  20. We haven't got the likes of Ronaldinho, who despite being the best player in the world at the time has an terrible attitude towards training and preparing for games, Rijkaard's not the only one who has failed to completely control him, just look why he left PSG. Why does eveyone want Pellegini so much? (before Pellegrini fans start having a go, just want your perspective of why you believe he's our best option) He did well at Villareal with many South American's who we could not buy because of our work permit rules and he did well at Real Madrid but who couldn't do well at the moment seen as there are basically only 2 teams in Spain. I like him don't get me wrong but what honours etc has he won? Does anyone know? Thanks
  21. Torres is not as good as Villa, their respected goal records prove this, you can say Torres played in a poor Athletico team that's why his record's not as good. Villa played for Sporting Gijón scored loads, same at Zaragoza earning him a move to a better club, Valencia. Just take a look at there national teams record. Everything keeps saying we got the best gk, cb, cm, st in the world, realistically and statistically we haven't.
  22. Having the best players doesn't necessarily mean your going to win, a good manager who nutures and improves his team must take alot of credit, was Valencia's team better than the Galactico's, or our team better than the rest of Europe in 2005? No but we had a good manager and a bit of luck. Take Man Utd for example, I believe there starting XI is actually worse than ours and worse than Villa, Tottenhams, Arsenals, Chelseas but they will still finish higher than most of them because they have a better manager squeeses the every drop of effort out of his team. After being there so long he has them playing a certain way, like Wenger has done at Arsenal from the youth team up, they all play the same way as the 1st team so players just come in and know what is expected. Also like Barcalona do, Rijkaard helped set that up, maybe he could come and do it here, we have some very good youngsters on the verge of something great.
  23. Yea definately, back them into a corner and force their hand, either they'll stick with Hodgson till after christmas or act fast and do the right thing, do you trust Roy to buy well in January, more importantly do the owners, if not then they must get Rijkaard in now, take the pressure away from him for this season, barely no pressure on the final league position, cos at the money 10th would be good enough, he'll have a few months to stamp his mark on the club till Jan then can start his proper rebuiding job with his signings and adding the finishing touchs to th squad
  24. So its absolutely unheard of in football for people to deny rumours only for them to come true in the non-so distant future? So if it turns out in the morning Rijkaard has quit then is it still bollocks or will there be a chance that its true. Maybe I'm just hoping and dreaming! but like Red Pheonix said the rumour brought a smile to my face to after the start we've had, it lifted my spirits slightly, we are allowed to dream!!
  25. Granted it might be bollocks, are we not allowed to be excited at potentially getting rid of a dour, defensive manager who has the charisma of a nun and replacing him with someone who transformed Barcelona into what we no today? We wont know nothing till tommorrow but why is bollocks do you know something nobody else does?
