Most reds when picking their starting 11 for the season are pretty much in agreement about the back 4 with Lucas sitting in front. This gives us a solid base to start with. Agger had an excellent euros and is coming into his prime showing great experience and responsibility. He would be my captain when Gerrard doesn't play. If we want to move forward as a club he has to stay.

I'd go along with that as we have lost a couple of older players and as I want to see some of the pups coming through a bit of prem experience around them won't do any harm. Don't know much about this lad Borini but from what I hear he puts a shift in. Front 3 of him, Dempsey,and Luis would have the energy to play the pressing game the manager wants. Bellamy falls into this but the lads knees won't let him game after game. Still want him to stay. By the way, S.L. you must be pissed off having your 'fart catchers' diving in with support. It's great news for the lad and I reckon he will kick on from here and develop into a fine player for the club As some one mentioned he always shows for the ball and is always looking to make things happen. At times last season he was trying too hard and coming unstuck but he's only a pup, he'll improve, he's a confident kid. Really hope he goes on to great things, not just for the club but for himself also as he seems like a good genuine lad.

Italy were excellent tonight. From 1 to 11 they looked the part, everyone ready to look after each other and as a lot of Italian teams in the past, they grow into a competition. I used to wonder whether they always found it harder to get out of their group than it was to win it once they got to the knock out stages. Be a great final and they defo have a chance.
