  1. Christ, that's surely got to be photoshop? Are there instructions with each flag explaining which team they should support, various chants and songs listed, perhaps even outlining the rules of the game?
  2. In all fairness City appear to be really trying to put the boot in today to justify the decision to their supporters. Lots of very convenient leaks to the media trashing Mancini. Not exactly classy. The trouble with sugar daddy clubs are the number of hanger's on trying to get a piece of the action. Just how many senior executives do they need? The photo of them all gathered together as Mancini goes up to collect his runners up medal is very revealing. Individuals such as these like to weasel their way into positions of authority without having to take any responsibility. It's pretty clear that City's transfer policy wasn't being defined by Mancini. It's also ludicrous of the club to cite his lack of involvement with their youth academy as a failing giving that by purchasing the club and investing hundreds of millions directly led to the decline of a well respected academy. It's not as if that policy of spending mega bucks to make themselves competitive has come from Mancini. Just like Chelsea as far I'm concerned, a really nasty club at its heart now.
  3. Curse of the billionaire plaything unfortunately. If you're the manager of a club with near unlimited funds and having spent not far off a billion since they took over then you have to deliver every season. Your previous achievements buys you absolutely no credit. Whether his sacking is justified is one thing but the classless ungracious way they've gone about it speaks volumes.
  4. Yep they probably will but then again teams like Wigan are always going to spend their time bouncing between the Premiership and the Championship at best. It will be a long time before they get another chance to win a trophy.
  5. That's it for Mancini. Amazing he has such a decent CV for a clearly very average manager.
  6. Well done the FA for bringing the game into disrespect again, have an FA Cup final at 5.15pm with two northern clubs so the supporters end up being unable to get home late on Saturday evening. Putting the fans first again.
  7. Don't forget that there is now a section buying into..... Moyes >>>>> Mourihno
  8. I assume that's the statement they are trying to make? 6 years being the time taken for whiskey nose to win his first title. In reality there will be a 12 month termination clause and he'll be out of a job by January if it goes badly wrong. It all has a sense of unreality.
  9. Obviously no one can possibly know but their dominance has been down to the reign of one man who will no longer be managing them on a day to day basis. All bets are off I'd suggest.
  10. That's all perfectly reasonable as long as the boundaries are clearly defined and respected. It won't be an issue if everything goes well, the issue will be if Moyes starts to struggle both internally within the club and externally the focus may return to Ferguson. I'm assuming he'd have enough sense to keep out of it? By making a clean break and giving him at most an ambassadorial role it wouldn't be quite the issue. However before Moyes has even formerly accepted the role a perception of Ferguson still being involved offering guidance to Moyes has been floated. They've already experienced the consequences of a former manager playing too big a role within the club post his departure. Busby didn't even give up his office. It wouldn't surprise me if this all unraveled rather quicker than we expect.
  11. Didn't they want him out a few weeks ago when they realised they weren't in the hunt for a champions league spot and he started stalling on his new contract?
  12. Me too, just a bit too conspiracy theory this. They are hedging their bets to an extent with Ferguson's directorship role providing the allusion of continuity for them. However I don't believe that Moyes is going to go in their and operate as a puppet for Ferguson. It's highly unlikely that Moyes will be receiving an email detailing the team sheet direct from the board of directors each week. That's what makes this so delicious for everyone watching on. Moyes will attempt to stamp his authority and given that Moyes will be making the decisions it's highly likely that he'll fail. By keeping whiskey nose around it will provide a focus for the media whenever anything goes wrong. Everything about his departure this week suggests that this is a joint decision between the club and Ferguson rather than Ferguson simply deciding to retire on his own. No doubt he has an unhealthy influence over footballing decisions but don't think for one minute the Glazer's wouldn't show him the door if it was perceived to be in their long term interests.
  13. Does appear so, they're certainly grabbing the headlines today. Wonder if shrek will stick around for gollum?
  14. I'm just hoping they give him three years to win something.
  15. However it plays out between Moyes and Ferguson, I just can't visualise Moyes leading them through a successful champions league campaign let alone safely leading them in for another title.
  16. How much does Ferguson really care about them? It's always been a vehicle for him. Are we sure he'd even want a successor to be successful? There's little doubt that the relationship between Ferguson and the supporters has been strained, have they even managed a chant for him yet?
  17. Difficult to avoid that conclusion, they haven't learnt from their own history. As we know double managers doesn't work. They should just cut the cord and let a new manager that they can trust completely take the helm. They're so terrified of losing Ferguson they are desperately trying to engineer a situation that they perceive as safe, continuity is the overriding factor. In reality they are appointing a manager with no track record at this level who at best you can say has done a decent job keeping a small club fighting above their true level. Fantastic, I can see this all unraveling within a few months.
  18. Superb, I do hope so, go for Martinez then, lol. Getting the most out of average players and maximising your return on a limited budget (both debatable) is an entirely different skill set from managing a big club, winning titles and CL's, managing and recruiting big name players. They're going for the continuity aspect which isn't surprising, who can take us on for another fifteen years rather than just getting the best available manager. I'll be far more worried if they go for Klopp or Maureen. Moyes has no track record and will come under a massive amount of pressure if he makes a slow start. Please, please, please go for Moyes.
  19. He's the obvious candidate, can we get a campaign started? I know it's a step down for Big Sam given his aspirations to manage Madrid but I'm sure he'll be prepared to lower his standards a bit.
  20. Klopp would be a good call for a long term replacement, however I could see him needing time to settle. Personally I think they'll go all out for Mourinho because he'll guarantee them success for the next couple of seasons despite all the baggage. They've been prepared to tolerate Fergusons often very public antics. They reduced their debts over the last couple of seasons but it's still around the £400 million mark. A couple of relatively unsuccessful seasons could have a serious impact. Is it such a surprise that Mourihno's negotiations with Chelsea have apparently stalled? I really hope they're mad enough to go for Moyes, the thing about Ferguson staying on as director does tend to suggest that. It would be a huge mistake for them and a delight for us.
  21. A bit different, Shankly had effectively created a management structure Ferguson hasn't. There isn't a bootroom at Old Trafford. They're in the same boat as every other big European club now, managers even with established reputations could go in there and sink. The pressure placed on the next manager will be huge. I'd be very surprised if they could afford to allow the next manager to take six years to start to win trophies.
  22. Hopefully this will lead to a new cycle in football, they are in an extremely strong position and will be able to recruit any one of the available top managers armed with a substantial transfer budget. They also have an undue influence on football. However it brings uncertainty whereas before they could count on year on year continuity and competing for trophies being guided by the same person. Modern management has changed, it's unlikely we'll see someone take on a role leading a club for twenty years, most top managers only stay for a relatively short period of time. Given their lack of exposure to change even a small wobble under the stewardship of a new manager could cause them to panic. Just a shame we're not in a position to take advantage.
