  1. Nunez has had fuck all service until that moment he just fucked up. Which to be fair was a high ball.
  2. What the fuck was that foul call? The player is on the ground before Szobo touches him.
  3. Taylor plays defense for them and gives them a free for going through Konate, you couldn’t make it up.
  4. Overall I thought we looked very good for the first 30 or so, like others have said the turning point seems to be Mo’s offside goal. Defensively more exposed than I’d like after that. Part of that I think was our own rush to attack after getting the ball back rather than going for more controlled build up. On one hand it’s frustrating as we should probably have scored 3 before they got their first but for the first game of the season with the turnover we’ve had and clearly needing another midfielder I’m okay with it so far.
  5. Thought Alisson should’ve done better there. Looked like he didn’t see the Chelsea player until the last second. Altogether though, unlucky goal to concede. the second one is shit though
  6. Understandable if Lavia doesn't want to come to us, provided we even go back in for him, after this Caicedo thing which isn't even resolved yet but if he goes to Chelsea I'm going to assume he's just a fucking moron. Chelsea is where young players go to stagnate, get ridiculed, flop, and move somewhere else as a rehabilitation project and that's if they even get on the pitch for them as most are just loaned out until they're eventually sold. I know Southampton are in the championship this season but he'd be way better off in the long run staying there than he would going to Chelsea.
  7. I have no inside knowledge but the way we put out that we weren't going in for Bellingham before the season even ended makes me think our negotiating team at the time either felt strongly, or were told directly, that Bellingham would pick Madrid over us if we were both in for him. Maybe his tune would've changed if we ultimately qualified for the CL but we didn't, and he's also on wages we were never going to pay a new signing (or possibly anyone) over there. I could be mistaken (or the writing could've been bullshit) but I remember reading something before the club dropped out of the Bellingham transfer that Bellingham's initial plan was to play here for a few seasons and eventually move to Madrid, much like Haaland at City. So we gave it the old "We never wanted him that much anyway" and moved on to our other targets of Mac Allister and eventually Szobo. This Caicedo thing has come out of nowhere for all of us but one has to assume the club were gauging his willingness to sign here for the last 6 weeks or so given how we've dragged our feet with Lavia. I don't know if it was Chelsea jumping in on Lavia that made us pull the trigger for him or perhaps even made Caicedo decide he'd just as soon become a Liverpool player rather than only wanting Chelsea as was widely reported but whatever the case, here we are. Caicedo is a different player than Bellingham so other than the money which we've end up spending anyway I don't think his signing really has anything to do with not getting Bellingham. The two we brought in early are the ones we got instead of Bellingham.
  8. Yea I was talking to my friend about it, they honestly should just reduce the size of the goal by 2 feet each way and I think it would be fine. The female goalkeepers are clearly not athletic enough to cover a full goal. That's not to say anything against them it's just physiology.
  9. Training and pre-season performances only matter when the players are absolute shit and the other team puts 4 passed us, everyone knows that.
  10. I saw a statistc on the tele that Jurgen Klopp is our longest serving manager since Bill Shankly (in the post-war era). I thought "that can't be right" feels like it's all gone by in a flash honestly. So many memories.
  11. Maybe, and I might be stretching here, we should wait until the window closes to get hysterical about it all
  12. That's why we all keep coming back isn't it?
  13. I don't think winning it is outside of the possibility honestly but given this is the realistic thread, I will say we should realistically be comfortably 2nd or 3rd in the league. In the cups I think we have a good chance to win the Europa league anything less than the quarterfinals would be disappointing assuming we try for it, and we'll play the league and FA cups as we usually do. If we get favorable draws then we'll cruise to the latter stages if not it'll depend on our league fixtures around them.
  14. I think you're looking for the "boring cunts that are positive about negativity" thread, my friend
  15. Horses for courses as others have said but I think on the form we saw through the end of last season it's got to be Gakpo through the middle and if he keeps that form up or improves there then I think Nunez future is actually on the left for us. Diaz and Jota might have something to say about that but I think Nunez has the potential to be better than both of them. My reasoning for this is based primarily off how we used Firmino in that central role in the past and the way we set up with the box midfield down the stretch last season. I just think Nunez needs to improve his game in far more areas to fit that central role than he would to come in off the left and score goals or grab the odd assist like Mané did for us. If we decided we want the CF/ST to actually lead the line then Nunez is the one, but I don't think that suits Mo at all first foremost and I'm not sure how well any of Diaz, Jota, or Gakpo would do on the left in that situation either.
  16. I understand he's more than likely not going to come in and start ruling the roost as far as leadership goes being 22 and brand new in the side, but isn't Szobozslai meant to be a rather vocal player and big on the leadership despite his age? I know he captains his national side but since Hungary haven't been worth a shit since the middle of last century that could just be a case of him being far and away their best player, still I'm fairly certain more than one of those videos or write ups earlier in the thread mentioned how he's always communicating with others on the pitch. It's also possible that someone else steps in that regard, after all they get paid to play too. Before last season I think most would've seen Virg as the heir apparent to Hendo as far as the captaincy goes, but if we want it to be a player further up the pitch when we attack then maybe Trent has it in him. Either way I don't think it's a good reason to be disillusioned with this signing.
  17. I agree with you in theory but that really only works if the player is good enough at reading the game tactically. It's among the reasons why players like Pirlo and Xabi never needed to be particularly quick (although Xabi massively benefited from Masch playing alongside him during a big chunk of his time here). Hendo's got a tendency to lose track of players as was mentioned, of course as 6 he might be aware that tackling and tracking are more of his job in that position as there isn't a midfielder behind him and adjust but it's not a foregone conclusion that it'll work.
  18. I wasn’t trying to put any guilt for the situation and outcome onto the US Navy. We agree that the hubris/stupidity of the operators directly caused the incident. I stand by my statement that it could’ve been handled better publicly. I don’t think any entity, particularly one as well funded as the US Navy, needs to completely call off a recovery or even a rescue effort because they publicly state the facts of the situation. It happens all of the time on missing persons and fire incidents, “Based on the evidence at our disposal we believe this is a recovery/confirmation effort at this time but we will continue those efforts.”
  19. Was out at an appliances store earlier and the salesman was saying maybe they faked their death for insurances purposes. I don’t mind the tin foil now and then but if the CEO’s videos are any indication he’s just not that fucking smart.
  20. I only know what they told the public as does everyone else on this thread presumably. Up until confirmation reports there was no indication the Navy was doing anything but assisting in rescue efforts. Maybe they did privately notify the families, though I think the twat stepson would’ve let that slip as soon as he got his 15 seconds of notoriety for going to the blink concert. Being told to expect the worst is a lot different than saying we have evidence they’re already gone in my opinion.
  21. I think it’s absolute scumbag behavior to allow all this carrying on when they knew they were dead days ago. Even if they couldn’t be sure exactly what it was they heard, they could’ve told everyone they had reason to suspect they were already gone via the established timeline.
  22. That video of the CEO and the quote from a journo about safety being a waste obviously all looks horrible now but to a point I actually agree with it, and admire people that push the boundaries and put their money (in this case life) where their mouth is. The real shame is that he convinced someone else to take himself and his 19 yr old son along for the ride. On the human side of things I genuinely feel for all of their families, whilst for the people directly involved I hope their death was a quick and painless as it possibly could've been. I also find myself strangely pissed off by the coverage of this. Mainly all of these red flags about safety concerns, bravado from the owner/CEO, lawsuits from passed employees being dug up when it does fuck all good now except for the next person that gets the idea to do something similar. I believe this was the 5th or 6th trip down there, where was this information mentioned any other time I've heard about this thing? It's easy to say now with hindsight of course but as soon as the company started accepting money from people to go on board and essentially became a tourism venture rather than self-funded research/exploration the entire operation should've been gone over with a fine tooth comb. At the very least some standards for pressure testing the vessel by a non-financially invested 3rd party should've been a required and overseen.
