  1. Really just pisses me off that. Especially the smug comments to those defending him for the "racist" accusation. I'll let it go as it's been gone over to death on here but fuck does that shit wind me up.
  2. Restricted to the Hodge's selection for the WC I'd have gone with: Hart Johnson Cahill Jagielka Baines Stevie Barkley Henderson Sterling Rooney Sturridge Tactics wise - Barkley and Henderson to harrass the opposition both with instructions to be positive but I'd probably want Henderson to be the more disciplined of the two when it comes to really picking and choosing when to move forward, Gerrard in a deep-lying playermaker role. Rooney, Sterling and Sturridge can all interchange to an extent. Basically set them up like us and you're swapping Rooney in for Suarez and Barkley for one of Coutinho/Lucas/Allen, defense and GK change bar Johnson obviously. Alternatively, I'd have a diamond with Sterling at the Apex and Sturridge right and Rooney left up top. No other changes, I suppose you could switch Wilshere for Barkley if you wanted. Welbeck wouldn't see the field unless he was the only striker available.
  3. Respectfully I disagree, he played most of the right players sure but it didn't look like he actually trained them to play together at all. I think a more evolved manager would have done better, not saying they'd win it or anything but the quarter-final could have been a realistic expectation.
  4. Over here I've been listening/watching on the Univision app when I couldn't just sit and watch. It's in spanish, which I don't really speak but I do understand a bit of it. The only alternative for me is listening on the radio via ESPN (apparently ESPN and Directv couldn't strike a deal to allow streaming on the WatchESPN app) and while it's in English they're a good 6 to 8 minutes or so behind the live action. The Univision (which is a channel primarily for Mexican and other hispanic viewers) app is at most 2 minutes behind and I've seen it be only 30 seconds behind when I'm stationary watching the action plus it has video so when I do get a chance to watch I'm not actually missing out on anything. Some of the "strange" things I've noticed from the Mexican commentators are that they tend to say the players first middle and last name and one just for us Reds during the Italy v England game everytime Gerrard had the ball the commentator said "Capitan Estevie". Anyway it's worked well so far.
  5. Yea I wouldn't post the pictures either but then I hate taking pictures. As far as him not caring about his career, as long as the money keeps rolling in he's set. Never read this anywhere and certainly don't know the man but he strikes me as a guy for whom football is a job rather than a passion. Birds and booze appear to be his passion so in all fairness I'd say he's probably about the same as about 80% (conservatively) of the planets male population. I do get your point though, it's why whenever I hear someone say they feel sorry for him about the fee that brought him here or something else to do with his career I usually just snicker a bit to myself. He's had an opportunity that all of us here could only dream of and yet he's carrying on like a standard person who has more money than he knows what to do with. Pretty sure I've said something about this before but Aurelio for example is a player I genuinely feel sorry for, clearly passionate about the sport and gifted in many ways but unfortunately for him (and us Reds for that matter) he was made of glass.
  6. Feel the same way as both of you it was quite a double edged sword. Celebrated every goal at work (though I must admit I was more reserved for Rooney's just because I can't stand him) with all of my Mexican and Central American co-workers thinking I had gone mad (they were all pulling for Uruguay), one of them finally asked why I was supporting both teams and I just said "7 of them play for LIverpool" and listed off the names so I think they eventually understood. They've known for a while that I like football and that I support Liverpool but I don't think they realised how closely I follow the sport as a whole until today.
  7. I've never done LSD before but I'm assuming you're having a great time pal.
  8. Best player in the world and he's not an utter cunt (might be a bit of a nutter at times fair enough). To be fair, I've never really seen Messi act a cunt either but then I only watch Barca and the Argies a few times a year at most.
  9. Yea I expected better from them as well. Would've won had Akinfeev not massively fucked up though. Brasil do have a habit of getting better as the tournament goes on but I'm not at all convinced about their being favorites after these first two matches, home crowd be damned. Hope we get Brasil-Chile in the round of 16 I think that would be a really entertaining match, not that Brasil-Spain wouldn't especially given the Costa factor, but I'm tired of Spain.
  10. Thought the same thing, bringing on fucking Jo and Willian? They should check the giant Jesus statue for tears. Could be being harsh on Willian I suppose because I don't think Mourinho ever suits him but I still think Coutinho would have been a better option. Jo is well, shit really.
  11. Thought the same thing on the live viewing, first shot was clearly not in and but the rebound crossed the line.
  12. I wasn't at all impressed by the Argies today. Bosnia played like a Pulis team sure but that first goal was pure bad luck in my opinion. Messi, for whatever reason, just doesn't do as well for Argentina as he does for Barca for me. That said, his goal tonight was world class.
  13. Great shout that, I hated the show as I was young when it was on so didn't exactly have time for all the legal stuff (My Grandfather was a WWII vet and loved programs to do with the military) but she made it bearable.
  14. I think Moreno will be a better player than Shaw myself. Shaw is more talented than Rodriguez (although out of the three I think Rodriguez is the better player right now) but I think Moreno is more talented than both of them. Which out of Moreno or Shaw is better right now is up for debate, mainly because they've been playing in different leagues. I do agree that I'd rather we spend £32-35m on Barkley than the £30m Southampton are said to want on Lallana, but I'll give Rodgers the benefit of the doubt.
  15. Think Sugar Ape is a fan, maybe PM him about it?
  16. Of course he would but that's everyone unless perhaps when they're on their last contract and know it. In my opinion it'd be worth it to put a bid in, and it's possible he thinks he can overtake Sturridge. Anyways I could honestly see all 3 of Lukaku, Sturridge, and Suarez playing together, I just think it would be unfair to Sterling to assume that it's a given.
  17. I doubt very much Chelsea would sell to us but Lukaku would be great business, even at £20m. He's got the potential to be unplayable, has enough pace to worry defenders and should be good with headers eventually (if he isn't already, I only watched Everton 3 times this season). He'd be third choice here more often than not I suspect and I don't know how he'd feel about that but on the other hand we've got the games to go around and he's a bit different to any of the strikers we have, would be a very solid "plan B", and good cover for our main two strikers without being a "clone" of either of them.
  18. Chatting with other proper football fans (English based ones as well as American) on a New Orleans Saints forum I frequent. We seem to be the only ones that have a significant problem with Hodgson. Even had a Sunderland fan have a go at me for "Woy", and tell me he liked him. Then he proceeded to tell me this is England's worst squad for ages and I only think otherwise because I'm a Liverpool fan. Seems to me like the Hodge's low-expectation propaganda is paying dividends.
  19. Weren't we meant to be monitoring Rodriguez from Wolfsburg, or was that all bullshit? I don't think Moreno is garbage but from what I have seen I'd prefer the aforementioned player to either him or Shaw. Also, if Di Maria is really available for £25m then we absolutely need to put a bid in.
  20. Agree with this, I'd like us to add a player capable of being a goal threat week in, week out from that position. Lallana can do it but I'm not sure he's the best available option at the price Southampton are looking for. Coutinho has it in him as well, and he's arguably half way there with his passing and dribbling ability, he just needs to be more clinical. Thing is though, if we got a player like that and Henderson added goals to his game (which I think he can do as, for me anyway, it's all composure with him) we really would have a silly attack and that's without adding anyone to our forward line. Allen's similar in that he can do what Henderson does to a certain extent, but for me he doesn't look like a player that can really make that step up to a new level, obviously I hope I'm wrong there. Henderson looks like he could be similar to a young Gerrard for a while as in marauding passed the opposition and scoring a goal. That's not to say he'll ever be as good all-around but that he can fulfill that role adequately if he sorts his nerves.
  21. Atleti on pens, Ronaldo to sky one and burst into tears
  22. Not finished it yet, on episode 7, but it's been fucking amazing so far. Anyone interested in conspiracy/occult references might wanna check out the write up about this series on Vigilant Citizen (and no I'm not affiliated at all with that site). Definitely interesting though whether you believe in shit like that or not.
