Charlie Adams technique is amongst the best in our squad. On the ball the lads brilliant, can pick out a 40 yard pass, can ping in a cracking cross and is a serious goal threat from 25 yards. Off the ball he's not so great and needs to improve massively, mainly his positioning imo as opponents often seem to easily glide past him. I must be in a select few who actually think he is an upgrade to Raul at the moment

For me there hasn't been a game where we've dropped points and i've come out thinking, had we have had Raul, we may have won that game. He's a decent/good player but certainly not a vital one

I really don't see where this "no creativity" theory seems to be coming from. We're incredibly wasteful but certainly creative.

"I was not sorry then and I'm not sorry now." (K. MacKenzie, December 2006). Breathtaking arrogance, disrespect and stubborness thrown into one, horrible shitbag of a quote. No tears will be shed in my household upon hearing of his hopefully sudden death.

He is. However, England will win fuck all with him or without him, alls this means is we're not going to hear the last of how were Rooneyless from now until were put out of the tounament in the standard quarters, probably with rooney in the lineup

Things in football you still can't believe happened

The referee blowing up for full time as Don Hutchinsons block was rolling over the line is still the singleowost bizarre referreeing decision i've ever witnessed. Rather one i cant believe never happened...Bob not being knighted despite still being the only British manager to win 3 european cups- 128 replies

I don't know how to feel about Raul to be honest mate. I'm now trying to remember all the times he impersonated an invisible man last season, especially away from home, but he also had brilliant technique, that wolves volley was absolutely superb. Would have liked to have kept him, but after Torres leaving in the circumstances he did in January, i doubt i'll ever feel disappointed again about a player leaving, Onwards and upwards -
Really could not disagree more. Yes he's 32 but he'd do as a 3rd choice striker for the year (if hed accept such terms at his age) and he is a good footballer. Never had a bad word to say about our club either so he's never annoyed me in the slightest. ...Plus he shares our complete hatred for John Terry
-
He was shit in Italy and decent for Sevilla. He's just a crap player
-
Must have been watching a different player to me mate. He's technically a brilliant player, maybe not the quickest but he makes up for it with his natural ability and reading of the game. A massive shame hes so injury prone but i suppose thats the reason he was released from Valencia in the first place

First game of the season: Sunderland @ Home

I still believe Joe Cole in some part will become a good option for us, maybe if its coming off the bench to open up a tight game. He's too good a player to continue his poor form imo- 625 replies

Ballague said we were interested in mata but went for downing and now we have no interest. Think a left back should be our priority now

I'd be very surprised if the majority of our lot haven't slept around behind their girlfriends/wifes back to be honest so i couldn't care less about these type of 'scandals.' That being said i'm glad its that cunt who seems to have adopted a smug, holy than thou persona as of late- 24 replies

The 20million for downing is no more a rip off to me than 35 for carroll. If they turn out to be good servants to the club than price becomes irrelevant, which is what i believe downing will turn out to be
-
I think he'll be a good, steady player for us who'll give his all and provide decent service to the forwards. Agree the 20million is probably 7million or so too much but you pay the english premium in a massively inflated market, but by all accounts he's Kenny's first choice at this point in time and it looks like we'll get him. I don't neccesarily agree with the notion hes been merely average his entire career also. He went stale in his last 2 years at boro, but was hugely rated before then and had a good season last year for villa after the injury of his first. I think he'll be a good player for us
-
fucking hell is this serious
-
straight out of the Macia handbook of scouting that one Andy
-
Nobody, including Kenny, is going to change that piece of shit at the age he is now, lets not delude ourselves. It would be an awful signing both in a footballing perspective and for our image. Hes not excellently gifted to make up for his scumbagness hes merely a decent player and should be avoided at all costs
-
No we're not as things stand
-
If you want to compare how many goals Downing scored for a relegation battling side such as Boro against a 5th place chasing side like villa of recent years than fine. Last season in the same side both players scored and created pretty much the same amount, with young afforded the luxary of taking penalties. Don't be so dismissive of other peoples views
-
he is younger and quicker but i don't neccesarily agree he does the other two to any greater degree, if at all, to downing. Downing is still pretty quick anyway and his cross if far superior and would suit us if andy carroll is to be the main centre forward
