  1. Rafa Benitez has done a fantastic job in the 6 years he's been here. Having had less money than the likes of United and Chelsea, and more recently City, for prettymuch every season since he took over, he has made us into top four contenders and nearly the Title itself, not to mention an incredible Champions League triumph. The expectations at this club are way too high, because of our history. In reality, we are now behind at least 4 clubs, United, Chelsea, Arsenal, City and maybe even Spurs at a push. The reason for this is 20 years of mis managment at boardroom level that has allowed us to fall behind our Rivals.
  2. I can't be the only one who is concerned by all this. We're now relying on those 2 cunts plus a Chelsea fan to sell our club, with one clear motive. To get as much cash as they possibly can. None of them will give a fuck about who takes us over, the decision will come down to who offers them the most dollar. To me it just seems like we're going to be making the same mistake again, however now we have a mountain of debt and no Champions League football to fall back on. Another wrong move and we'll be in a worst state than Leeds come 12 months.
  3. This is by far the biggest worry I can't help but feel this is all part of a devious plan cooked up by those cunts.
  4. Blackburn have only lost twice at home in the league all season, but I would put my house on United winning there on Sunday. With Cunts like Fat Sam and Mick Mcarthy in the game its no wonder there still in the title race.
  5. Goal for Steve Fletcher, Burnley back in it!
  6. Villa are the only team in the top half that have gone to St Andrews and won this season. Our Away form has been awful at best this year, We'll be lucky to get a draw tomorrow.
  7. Have just done the results predictor on the bbc website for the remaining fixtures, and have got us in 6th behind City and Villa! Villa have been written off, but have a got such an easy run in!
  8. Just over a week to go! I've just made my first bet, a small each way punt on Denman, who's now out to 4s with some firms.
  9. Everybody seems to have missed the most obvious thing to do this summer, and thats sell Aquilani!
  10. Does anybody have a rough figure for the amount of debt they are in?
  11. 100 million for a 25% stake was never going to work, which is presumably why none of the interested investors we've had, have decided against making an offer. The worrying thing is, even if they do end up having to sell the club, they will only sell to the higest bidders, without even the slighest thought as to whats best for the club, so we could be in the same situation all over again. By the way, when did West Ham have a firesale??? Not only have they kept hold of all the top players, they've actually improved their squad in January.
  12. ok so our best four attacking players are all out injured, Gerrard, Torres, Benayoun and Johnson. Reina and Mascherano could also miss out due to slight knocks. hmmm its an interesting one!
  13. Ryan Babel willing to join Birmingham if Liverpool agree fee | Football | guardian.co.uk Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has been told Ryan Babel will consider a move to St Andrews if a fee can be agreed with Liverpool. McLeish is understood to have had a £9million offer for the 23-year-old striker rejected, despite the fact that the Holland international has started just three Premier League games this season and has primarily been used as a substitute. Although Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is eager to raise funds for his own transfer targets this month, Birmingham will need to bid closer to the £11.5million paid to Ajax for Babel in 2007. Speaking to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Babel's agent Winnie Haatrecht said: "We know that Liverpool are seriously thinking about the offer from Birmingham. We would consider a deal if both clubs come to an agreement. "In general Ryan wants to succeed at Liverpool, but if the people at Anfield conclude it's better he leaves, we have to think about the next chapter in his career. We will look then to the team, the perspectives of the club and Ryan, as well as a meeting with the manager." With new owner Carson Yeung apparently providing a transfer budget of £40million, City boss Alex McLeish is being linked with a welter of players. McLeish is also believed to have failed with a £10million offer for Celtic winger Aiden McGeady, and is rumoured to be poised to return to former club Rangers for striker Kris Boyd. 9 MILLION REJECTED!!!!!!! HOW MUCH ARE THEY HOLDING OUT FOR?
  14. only a fraction of what we've spent i'd imagine, but in this time they haven't won the European cup, Fa cup, consistantly challenged for either the league or champions league.
  15. Birmingham City have been outstanding this year, mainly down to hard work and being difficult to break down. Off the field they are in a much better position than we are and have got more money to spend than us in January!
  16. Yes, we have Overachieved! Liverpool Football Club is only a big club because of our history. We haven't had anywhere near the kind of money for transfers or wages, that the likes of United or Chelsea or Man City have got now, yet in this time we've won another European Cup and been very close to the league title, only losing 2 games all season.
  17. At the moment I still think Rafa is the right man for us. Surely people must see that Rafa has overachieved since he's been here, and regardless of who the manager is, we will never be able to go forward as a club whilst Hicks and Gillett are still here!
  18. Football has been destroyed by the money men, who constantly remind us that unless you're challenging for the Title or in the Champions League you're essentially a nobody. I'm 22 years old and followed the Reds for as long as I can remember. Some of my happiest early reds memory's are of our cup winners cup campaigns, playing the likes of Mypa 47 and Sion and seeing some brilliant high scoring games and wonder goals , Including Robbie Fowler's greatest ever strike in my opinion. I'm sure for many fans this period was seen as a low for our Club, we were still recovering from the Souness era and whilst entertaining, we never looked likely of winning the major prizes, yet back then I felt much prouder to be a Liverpool fan than I do now. The Core of this club is rotten, Football in general is just a soulless moneymaking exercise, Grade A morons such as Jamie Redknapp, Matt Le Tisser and Paul Merson harp on about Torres and Mascherano not sticking around if we miss out on Champions League football, Good! Is that all football is these days? As far as I'm concerned I will continue to support Liverpool football club, through the bad times and the good, and as much as every defeat hurts right now I can take comfort from the fact that it may not be such a bad thing in the long run as a huge financial meltdown, might just be the best thing that could happen to us now.
  19. You make some very good points Reacher. The longer these clowns stay in charge, the worse we are going to get. From what i've read of their plans, we will get 20 million every summer, for the next 5 years to spend on transfers and contract renewals. plus any money from selling players will go into the transfer kitty. So we've got 100 million over 5 years, when some clubs will be spending more than that in one year! Plus, by selling our best players we will never have a good squad of players, unless most of our youth players develope into fantastic players. The other major factor for me is that Gerrard and Carragher have only got a few more seaons left at the top level, and once they retire, we won't be able to replace them!
  20. A really fantastic prospect, but much like Babel or Mark Gonzalez, he's not a 'rafa' type player and I don't think he'd work out here. I fear he will end up going to one of our biggest rivals and being a major success.
  21. All teams need a mixture of hard working players and flair players. This season, because of the sales of Alonso and Keane, and persistant Injury problems to Aquilani, Gerrard, Torres, Riera, Aurelio and Agger we have found ourselves with an uneven balance of workers to flair players.
  22. If he wants more Anfield action, there's plenty he could be doing. I'm sure the bogs could do with a right good clean.
  23. Why league 2???? They should have to start at the very bottom on the non league system and work the way up like any other team would have to.
  24. I can't believe some of the things i've read on here, such as we're bound to go on a ten match winning streak and will easily finish in the top 4! Based on what????? In our next 4 league games we play City, Everton and Arsenal, based on current form we could just as easily lose all 3 of those!
  25. anyone know any good links for the game, Pm please
