  1. From other sites that have researched the 2020 finals the waiting list thresholds were 771 for the FA Cup and 450 for the League Cup. I was successful in both ballots then and it was paper tickets so this year's digital distribution might give us a lifeline...
  2. 3 season tickets, all unsuccessful ffs . 813 in the waiting list but who's going to register for the ballot then not take up their tickets?
  3. Honestly don't think the subs were the difference, everyone taken off was the right call but Allison (way more culpable than VVD) has his once-in-a-season shocker that killed us alongside Anthony Taylor's slam dunk. We were poor 1st half but that's nothing new and the game was there for the taking until Allison flies out and air shots. Move on. Players coming back will help, Klopp tends to use the squad heavily but when we reach the business end, he consistently starts with his best side. For me, that should include Bradley and Gomez as full backs; rotation between Jones, Trent, McAllister, Szoboslai, Endo and Thiago in midfield and Nunez, Jota, Salah and Diaz up front. The rest can feature in cups or to see out games.
  4. It's one of the key factors in our resurgence this season that our squad players have stepped up. In fact it's probably the main reason we are fighting on all fronts. Who amongst us would have imagined at the start of the season that our squad had any depth? Bradley, Quansah, Gomez - slot in Endo - have been a revelation. And McConnell now too.
  5. Nah, the real reason was the club was being funded by Usmanov who was on the same sportswashing mission as pioneered by Abramovic. Moshiri never had any wealth of his own, he has always been Usmanov's front man so when Russia invaded Ukraine and Usmanov was sanctioned, the money evaporated.
  6. It seems to be going under the radar how short of our 1st team we are right now. All we hear about is Spurs, Chelsea, Newcastle etc struggling against all the odds with their squad while in this game you could argue we were missing 7 players from the starting line up in a cup semi final.
  7. One of those games where you tell yourself you don't care if we lose, concentrate on the League, Europa, Caraboa....until the first whistle then you are balls-in on the performance and result.
  8. Arsenal are fine, no problem with the club or fans. Proper club and there's so many worse. Villa for a start, scruffy deluded wankers
  9. Well, Trent did a good impression of Henderson with all his overhit floaty crosses to no-one
  10. I do wish we were as physical in games as the opposition sometimes. We were bullied and yes that's to be expected with such a young, inexperienced side but it's been a continuing theme. Other than Endo, we don't put a foot in, push and shove, tactically foul etc. UnionSG and Toulouse at home were in our faces the whole game and we kept coughing up the ball. That used to be our great strength, we have to find that combative attitude again.
  11. He looks like a leader which is what you need when the chips are down. Massive contribution v Fulham
  12. Yeah, there were a few times against City when we blew good shooting opportunities. I was going on about Robbie Fowler and how he would have buried those chances. We started off the same with Fulham and one moment in particular when Nunez tried to play in Mo with the goal gaping. Maybe the long delay with their goalie injury allowed Klopp to have a word, I dunno, but after that we were more decisive in those areas and I struggle to remember a game where we scored 4 worldies from distance before
  13. Hmmm, I thought our passing game was pretty average frankly. Ball retention was pants and yet again we blew so many last phase positions. Klopp said afterwards that there were many things he was unhappy with and for sure that means how open the game was when we were ahead and how we should have managed the game better.
  14. Continuing our strange form this season where we go from one game to another not knowing how the fuck we will play. There's plenty to be cheerful about generally results wise and the character of the side to keep coming back from losing positions but fuck me we are shit at times. Our passing is not elite level yet, it's all too slow or too forced. I keep hoping we will suddenly click and ping the ball around splitting defences and in control but it's not happening yet. I believe in Klopp 2.0 but can't help thinking we still need a spark from somewhere outside the current squad
  15. Top report as always DU. Couple of points, firstly we are seeing a few managers and their media allies banging on about injuries etc (eg Newcastle, Spurs, Chelsea) yet we had EIGHT regular squad players missing for this game. You're right about the bench, I haven't checked the average age but if you discount the 3rd keeper Adrian who ain't never gonna come on then it's probably about 19-20. Secondly, the atmosphere in the ground has dropped off this year and the empty Anfield Road Upper has a lot to do with it. I reckon we will be unbeatable when it's fully opened with the away fans drowned out on all sides. Mind you we are ace at home anyway but we might need the extra few percent when it really matters towards the end of the season.
  16. Beg to differ with Harvey. I thought he gave one of his cameo schoolboy impressions, trundling around wide-eyed and out of his depth. Virgil took the M-o-M for me, outstanding when everyone else was struggling with the truly awful pitch conditions
  17. That's fucking disgraceful. Usmanov bankrolled Moshiri, nothing to do with the so-called sponsorship and he is one of Putin's inner circle oligarchs who state-stole his billions
  18. To be fair to the coaches, the inverted defender (doesn't have to be a fullback) is intended to reinforce the midfield in games where you are up against a low block defence and/or to overcome a high initial press. Where it won't work is losing the ball in the centre of the park where you are vulnerable to the quick counter attack and the defence is left exposed out of position. Which is what we do too often. It's all about picking the right moments and keeping the ball. When that happens it's very effective. Klopp is right that we're not stable just now, so many new players settling in, red cards etc but you can see the plan and I think we do have the players to make it work given more grooving on the training ground. Gravenberch could help in that system because it needs multipurpose midfielders who can drop into the areas vacated by Trent etc and one of his strengths (from those who know, not me) is breaking the press. This is an evolution in Klopp, we have moved away from heavy metal counter attack to dominating possession and now its about putting players into space
  19. Couldn't agree more, the new players are class and these are exciting times. The next test for our qualities as a team is consistent away wins. We were garbage on the road last year and in our 2 away games so far we have been under the cosh for long periods (with 10 men v Newcastle admittedly). Wolves is the next challenge, a tough away game but one we should expect to win if we are going to be contenders for the top. Let's see how we perform in these types of away games before we can start to dream
  20. Watched him through the junior ranks, very calm, composed and has all the physical attributes of a centre back. Good in possession and excellent passer of the ball through the lines. The one criticism is not seeing a runner going in behind him. At that level you would expect the coaches to be constantly at the defence to be moving their heads all the time to be aware of danger and hopefully the message has got through. Interesting to see Barton's comments about aerial strength, Quansah is big enough but probably does need to develop the strength to deal with powerful strikers jumping with him. I've always thought he could become a top level player, stood out from the pack and with the right nurturing of his talent we may have a winner.
  21. Salah is still our best player so no way should we let him leave now. But we do have to plan for his departure and it's a massive hole to fill.
  22. I knew Mac would be a great signing but was unsure about Dom following the preseason games and Chelsea last week. But what a performance! Absolutely top quality, with a work rate and stamina to match. Kudos to the acquisition team, they have taken plenty of criticism quite rightly but fucking hell what an upgrade these two are on our midfield
  23. Yeah, players first then owners well before the crowd turn on Jurgen.
