  1. What on earth are you blithering on about now? Of course moving around between countries in a pandemic is risky, which is why the more sensible ones have rigorous testing and quarantine protocols for visitors and returning residents. Naturally, the UK doesn't, not really. Also, you seem to have fixated on the virus originating in Spanish farm workers. As the various reports make abundantly clear, it spread within local Spanish populations to holiday makers and was then brought back to the UK and other countries. Nowhere does it say it was spread by those farm workers coming to those countries- I'm not sure why they would, seeing as they'd be working in Spain. Also also, the original report that seems to have set you off was about Romanians being flown over to work here back in March/ April or whatever. So not only a different country, but several months before the Spanish variant took hold.
  2. 'Call Uncle Cletus and get my rifle, boy'
  3. Interesting stuff- so it looks like washing hands isn't really that important (although probably a good idea otherwise), and face masks, ventilation and reducing time spent in proximity to each other are pretty much vital, especially in conjunction with each other. I wonder how many classrooms throw the windows open during lessons?
  4. Scum. Although, to be honest, if they're not shutting schools, they might as well not bother. And they're 6 weeks too late.
  5. Only 6 weeks too late. Pricks.
  6. She needed to restore her popularity by a serious arthouse exploration of lesbianity. Sad that both she and Jennifer Aniston passed on my detailed script.
  7. It's very far from the sort of stuff I would generally listen to as well, but it's still exceptionally good. And it's not so much his early stuff as his most successful stuff- as someone else mentioned in another thread, by the mid-70s, 2% of all worldwide record sales was by him, he was likely outselling even Led Zeppelin at that time.
  8. It got bad reviews because she didn't get her norks out.
  9. Yeah, they said we'll have fun, fun, fun till the Covid takes the T-cells away.
  10. Wha'? He made half a dozen stone cold classic albums in the early '70s, none of them are particularly obscure and all of them are absolutely superb. Candle in the Wind was just a pleasant ballad on Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and judging him by the other songs you mentioned is like saying Bowie was shite based on Blue Jean and Let's Dance (or Gabriel was shite based on Sledgehammer). He did taper off big time in the late '70s and '80s, but then so did a number of other huge artists from the '70s when they started chasing the MTV bucks, including Gabriel himself.
  11. You're in for a treat. One of the best films I've seen at the cinema.
  12. Our landlady for a couple of years was a magistrate. My girlfriend moved in at one point so she was getting double rent for a single room. She then lost her job and had to sign on for housing benefit. The landlady rang and said we needed to move out- obviously she wasn't declaring the rent and having a claimant rather than all students would get her flagged up. We moved a few weeks later, and she kept our deposits as we hadn't given her a month's notice in writing. Utter cunt.
  13. I don't think anything's really changed with regards to the vaccine- we don't know how strong and long-lasting a response they're going to produce compared to the actual virus, but in the worst case you'd need to have regular shots, like the various booster jabs you get for other diseases. Also, I'm certain that research into treatments and more effective vaccines is going to carry on. It'll be a long slog, particularly this winter, but we just have to knuckle down and get through it.
  14. I saw a couple of Tweets about that. The cunt had them bussed in, fucked off on his jet at the end and apparently had nothing laid on to take the deplorables back.
  15. Haha, I was thinking of replying, but there's no point.
  16. True, in conjunction with the favourable polls though, it does look promising.
  17. 310 more deaths reported today, another 600 patients in hospital and 60 or so more on ventilators. What an utter shitshow. People ridiculed Vallance for saying we'd be approaching 200 daily deaths by mid-November- looks like they were right to, we're well past that several weeks earlier.
  18. Wow, an absolute landslide thrashing would be superb. I just hope those heavy early polling figures aren't a mirage like they were in the 2019 UK election (although that was more anecdotal, this seems to have a lot more substance).
  19. Aye, they did similar with the original Witcher game, released an enhanced version months after the initial release, and gave it to previous owners free of charge. That was a massive update too.
