  1. Yeh, me too, with my daughter and a mate who’d travelled up from down south, atmosphere was decent until Karius…….
  2. Maybe because the last time we played Madrid in the Final and Anfield was opened, we lost. Not that we’re superstitious or that.
  3. I’d prefer us to have them in a stranglehold all game and win by three, but a deflected last minute goal off Kane’s arse and an unwarranted 1-0 will do just as well. Especially if all the city players and Guardiola are watching, just to lift their spirits of course.
  4. Love to see what the owners would do if that happened.
  5. As pointed out, us and doing it the hard way seem to go hand in hand, except maybe for the League title in ‘20? Think most thought Villarreal wouldn’t keep it as intense in the second half, and that’s how it worked out. We we’re terrible in the first half, as bad as we’ve been in several seasons, but Villarreal had the momentum from the third minute in and bullied us. Half time was what they didn’t want, and was exactly what we needed. Fortunately, they aren’t like us (i.e. versus Barcelona) and once Fabinho had put us ahead in the tie, they were done for and it showed by the looks on their faces. They need a better goalkeeper, and maybe then they’ll do better, but once again the simulation and aggressiveness they produced just make it difficult to say hard luck to them, even though their supporters are sound. So we move on to Paris, and number 7, lucky for us but not for the oil cheats hopefully!
  6. Another game where we didn’t start playing until the second half! At least Villarreal have given us a lesson to be at it from the first whistle, especially at this time of the season when you’re likely to play a team better than Villarreal that might well have been out of sight. A few redeemed themselves in that second half, (and they needed to!) but Alisson, Konate and Mane were the only players who looked at it in the first half, even Virgil was iffy and I do wonder sometimes if he’s not as vocal or commanding as he should be when he has the armband? A team as good as ours shouldn’t have to rely on a team talk at half time to sort things out, they should be sorting it on the pitch way before then or they could be dead and buried and that’s where the captain should be leading. Diaz definitely made a difference when he came on (what a signing by the way!) but Villarreal not being as dynamic also helped, but I felt they wouldn’t keep that level of press up because they probably don’t play that way usually, and because of both of those factors, we took command in the second half and saw it through in the manner we all thought we would. So, hopefully this helps us with so much at stake at this point, giving the players that belief that we are never beaten, that everything is possible. Allez, Allez!!
  7. Bullied. They won’t keep up this type of pressing though, unless they’re used to it, which I doubt. Work to do.
  8. Decent performance from Ronaldo and a few others who have coasted through this season for them. Who’d have thought it was their last home game! Bunch of con artists and prima donnas.
  9. Top stuff again Steve, I particularly liked the Points of View reference to our blue friends whingeing. I also am uncomfortable with our profligacy in front of goal at times, however, I’d balance that out with the notion that whenever we’ve stuffed teams in the past, we have sometimes then struggled in the following games to find the net, almost as if we’ve used up our goals allowance against a team and suffered for it. Perhaps winning and playing within ourselves, we can pick up a goal or two when we need to! Unfortunately I can’t envisage it benefiting us in the League, with how city are playing and with who they have to play, but if we are to remain behind them in the league regardless, then perhaps it might be something of a consolation if we were to prevent them winning the one thing they really want in Paris.
  10. Fletcher kept referring to a “ clash with Milner, that the referee allowed play to carry on after”. It was obvious from the replay Milner had got there first, and the Newcastle player kicked his calf, besides which, their player got up and carried on for another 30 minutes at least. But even when he went off, Fletcher again referred to “the tackle from Milner” that might have caused him to be injured. See what they want to see these idiots.
  11. They see it their way, we see it our way. Fair enough. It’s just that we’re right.
  12. Richarlison??? Mind you, the levels of fume………….
  13. I think last season, with the loss of crowds, accumulated injuries and, not least, the loss of his Mother in February, might well have had a negative effect on a man who is emotional, honest and wears his heart on his sleeve. Perhaps this is why at times he appeared, and maybe sounded, fed up. Time to grieve, a summer break, recharged batteries and a wife who is obviously happy with her life here and we have the the best manager in World football, with certainly one of the best teams in World football, wanting to build a dynasty. We are indeed truly blessed.
  14. The best signing we could make. My guess is more top class players would be asking their agents “What about Liverpool?” It could break Guardiola. Let It Be.
  15. And while we’re at it lid, even if we are stitched up and end up goin in the Championship, that’s the REAL championship in this country, not the “manufactured, not born” Premier League, which was really only made for the Sky 6 and is controlled by them Arabs. Why dya think the playoff game in the Championship is called the most valuable game in football ey, ey, ey??? Redshite mate, I’ve shit ‘em.
  16. Half time at half time as it were, maybe we’ll see if Ancellotti still has the nous to change things. Madrid have been chasing shadows for much of the game, but you can’t give them chances and expect them to miss as many as city have, Benzema is lethal and Vinicius Jr is decent too, but the good thing is the effort city are putting in, and unless they can get a couple ahead, all their best players will spend the majority of the game running around like cunts. Lovely to see Guardiola, when Mahrez blazed that chance wide, politely applauding and encouraging his player!
  17. Give it a couple of years and they can have a virtual Kop of their own, to go with the virtual fans in their virtual stadium.
  18. Spot on report as ever. Gordon has been sussed by the officials regarding his diving, and I doubt he has much more in his locker to offer, a diving Cadamarteri as it were, and I just hope the galling protestations from our blue “friends” doesn’t result in an official incorrectly awarding them a penalty in one of their remaining games that further cheats those clubs around them who have tried to remain financially legal, while they have been allowed to spend without seemingly being censured for it. The result was everything of course, as it will be in the next 8 or 9 games and as long as we win them all, we’ll have at least 3 trophies to celebrate. Exceptional times for an exceptional team.
  19. Already done that, on the basis that I don’t win money off the bookies. Only betting on League games though. And it’s only £20 staked (currently stands at £25.60).
