Here goes, 2014 review. Thanks to my SS this year. There really was a lot of tracks I liked this year !
Album artwork -
Merry Christmas crossed out and Bah Humbug written. TLW 2014, with a cock and balls sketched !
1 - Young Men Dead - The Black Angels
To open, slow rock vibe, reminiscent of The Doors ? Nice slow bassline, good start to Christmas !
2 - Under The Pressure - The War on Drugs
Melodic rock, 80's, very nice, easy listening.
3 - Torture - Rival Sons
Rock and roll track, blues-ish, bit like white stripes. Like it.
4 - Too Many Miracles - Badly Drawn Boy
I'd heard BDB before. Like this one, melodic.
5 - Team the Best Team - Doomtree
This one turns the album to rap. Bit of a surprise, but is cool enough to pull it off.
6 - Sleepwalker - Rival Sons
Metal track, alright, not my favourite to be honest.
7 - Luna - Bombay Bicycle Club
Good tune. Vocal on the track is excellent. Stripped back feel.
8 - I Sat by the Ocean - Queens of the Stone Age
Classic QOSA. Strong vocal, guitars. Get on it.
9 - I Forgot Where Where We Were
Bit slow, but nice vocal !
10 - Hurt Me - The Jezebels
Heard it before, classic tune ! Pianos, vocal..
11 - Holy Calamity ( bear witness ) - Handsome Boy Modelling School
From guitar to hip hop ! Nice tune, never heard of them before.
12 - Hang Me Up to Dry - Cold War Kids
From hip hop to indie ! Great vocals, nice tune.
13 - Gunshot - Lykke Li
Love her stuff. Big vocal, great tune.
14 - Cocoon - Cathfish and the Bottlemen
Ah very good ! 90's ? Excellent tune, guitars, vocal harmonies....
15 - Blue Moon - Beck
Class ! Fantastic end to the cd. Lyrics bang on, guitars - there. Drums also.
Thank you SS 2014. This was very much appreciated ! I think it was Juniper
