    people seem to be clutching at straws as fars as the mancs go, if they spend the type of money that is being bandied around in the media for the level of player they are apparently targeting then they will be a force next year. as for us we hear a few stories in the media linking us to the same players we have for the last few years and take it as gospel. i seriously doubt that Utd can afford to spend the 150-200m that is being reported as that would equate to about 6 years profit from their holding company, and the one thing the glazers are in it for is the money.

    i would go along with this, but i would say we will probably need 2 more of this type, that's if we want to maintain this seasons high standards, remember we will have more games next year with not as much recovery time, the pressing midfielders will need to be rotated.

    We have just got to hope he is given time and money to turn things around, £100m+ spent in the summer on overpriced shit would be just fantastic, to include a new defence. everyone knows it takes time to form a good central defensive partnership add new full back to that as well and we would be in for a good ride. when you consider that at best a manager will get 50% of transfers right and even the good ones will take time to settle into a side that is in transition, i could really see them taking the same path as we did in the early 90's, changing lots of players, changing managers. I beleive this is going to be an enjoyable 2-3 years (before they eventually sack him).

    chelsea will probably string utd on until the last day of the window then tell them he isn't for sale, leaving moyes with no other option other than panic buy or no buy.

    I think we need to get rid of Agger, skrtel, Johnson, Enrique and Lucas as I feel they past their best. Kelly, Flanagan and Robinson will not make it here. Gerrard will not be able to play the holding role on a regular basis as he is not disciplined enough.

    no, i think we have to get out of this mindset of fourth is a sucess, i would rather we went all out for the league and finished fith than accept being fourth best with just over a quater of the season gone.

    i don't agree with your first sentence but he deffo needs to go on loan, he needs games, he needs to understand different types of football. A loan from now till the end of the season would tell us all se need to know about him, good or bad. i think the longer he sits on our bench he will stagnate.

    He has signed 5 players this summer, this is now his squad. If he is being overly ambitious about our marquee player then that is his look out. He will live and die by that decision. There are plenty of players out there who would improve us that maybe aren't the £25m signing that he is seeking, that is where the buck will stop with him. With the owners, I believe it's a good thing they are setting maximum values for players, so that we don't get into bidding wars, but if it takes an extra couple of mil to secure our top target then I would like to think they will be saying to Brendan, just how important is he, and not just dismissing it out of hand. My main gripe with the owners is the stadium, they need to get this resolved and fast, good will only lasts so long, they are starting to live on borrowed time(as in the trust factor). Obviously just my opinions.

    I reckon we will sign a centre back and that's it, I have always given FSG the benefit of the doubt, but going into the new season having the same shit happen 2 years in a row is completely unacceptable. Leaving us short of players in positions which have been a priority since last summer just will not wash. People can bang on about not overpaying for targets, but that is the nature of the beast, clubs want top whack for their players, how can we complain when we are asking for £50m+ for Suarez exceptional player but so much baggage. This has to be a make or break season for Rodgers, although I would like stability at the club, we just cannot slip further behind arse and spuds, as no matter how much we have to spend in future, if we have no European football then we will always be shopping in the £5-£15m bracket and hoping for the best and top level players just will not join us.

    As it stands now if no more signings come in then:- 6th in the league. Quater finals of the FA Cup Semi final of the League Cup. That is all.
