  1. Mcmanaman was fucking immense for us for years. Our best player consistantly in my opinion and I remember many teams trying to man mark him saying if they stopped him they stopped Liverpool - they usually failed. He did fuck us over in the end as if i remember rightly he was dithering aout making a decision letting his contract run down and then we lost him for fuck all. Owen was fantastic for a few years although I think the main resentment towards owen stems from the fact he never held his nerve and called madrids bluff to come back to us and instead took the newcastle option. So in a nutshell Mcmanaman fucked us over once owen twice. However I think Mcmanaman has never really spoke about the club with as much affection as previous past players hence why some fucking despise him! But I think them same people forget what a great player he was for us - would fucking walk in our team now

    Momo

I accept he was never the most composed in possession however I think people remember the later period of his career in a red shirt. I think momo could come in an do masch's job if he was to go no danger. I think your right aout Rafa's knowledge aout Def mids though - no doubt he has a list of a few should Masch go.
  3. Il be very surprised if Lucas becomes a good player for Liverpool. Cant help thinking he is so well supported on here because Rafa clearly likes him as I cannot believe the reason is much to do with the way he has played in a red shirt. An I know its a cliche but from what I have seen of spearing for the reserves and his cameo's for the first team I would say he could have done what lucas did for us this year an more.

    Momo

Spot on. Momo was immense for us prior to that eye injury. I remember the season previous caragher saying he was his player of the year. So this business that he cannot hack the pace of the prem is nonesense. After the injury his confidence defo went down and his game did dip dramatically but he is older now and apparently bossing things in seria a. If masch went I would not be disapointed at all if momo came back.
  5. Owen should never have left for Madrid but to be fair to him he had always said he would like to play abroad at some point. For me the main fuck up was when real madrid accepted newcastles offer and Owen never stood his ground and said he would only go to Liverpool. What a fuck up that was. However the anti owen shit is a bit fuckin sad. He fucked up and he has probably regretted it every day since but owen was a shining light in a couple of very poor liverpool teams prior to gerrards arrival and people forget that. Id take him as back up but as earlier mentioned he will want to be playing regularly and its no going to happen at liverpool
  6. Another internet hardman eh So you dont think owen would take a considerable pay cut to come to Liverpool? Well we'll have to agree to disagree on that one.
  7. Id take owen as back up for torres. On a free cant see why we wouldnt other than he wouldnt be happy playing back up/rotation
  8. Bet Villa isnt happy. Touted about and then the club say he isnt for sale. Cant help thinking it may be a ploy to get more money from an english club. One thing is for sure - we dont want united or chelsea signing him Valencia have now announced that striker David Villa is not for sale at any price, according to the player’s agent. The 27-year-old Spain international had been expected to move to Real Madrid or Barcelona this summer, while Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool have also been linked. However, his agent, Jose Luis Tamargo, has now issued a statement saying Valencia are no longer willing to allow him to leave. "Valencia CF, through [chief executive] Javier Gomez and later [club president] Manuel Llorente, allowed me to work in putting David Villa on the market as his representative,” he said. “They had to sell him to help their difficult economic situation and gave me the conditions they required to complete the transfer. “David has always been wholly committed to the club despite the poor economic situation at Valencia but, because David is a world-class player, we have received offers from the four best teams in the world. "I am upset because Valencia have changed their position and said that they do not want to sell the player despite, as you all know, having held negotiations with three of the four major clubs. “This is a very unpleasant situation and is not good for anyone. It should be remembered that David has always said that he is very happy at Valencia. “We went into the market and now arrive at a sad situation, leaving with our tails between our legs. “It was not worth the damage that could have been done to both Valencia CF and David Villa and we have to take into account the fact that situation is more frustrating given that he is currently playing in the Confederations Cup with the Spanish team in South Africa. “It is very sad.” Villa had said in his post-match comments after Spain's victory over Iraq that he knew where he would be playing next season, and Tamargo added in As: "He didn't say anything about playing for Real Madrid. "That was something between me and him. We won't go into that."
  9. In light of all the bad news at the minute regarding the yanks, our reported lack of serious money and the gossip regarding Alonso and Masch wanting out. We needed a bit of positivity. You can help but admire Torres. Everything about the man is done with class. Fernando Torres has promised Liverpool fans the lure of Real Madrid’s millions will never tempt him away from Anfield. Madrid seemingly have the power to buy any player in the world right now, prising Kaka away from Milan while Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘loyalty’ to Manchester United also succumbed to Florentino Perez. With David Villa also on the cusp of a Bernabeu switch, Torres – arguably the best striker in Europe – is an obvious future target for Madrid, while United have also been linked to the Spanish hot shot. Torres, though, has a humble side to his character that is becoming increasingly rare in football and he is very clear in his intention to stay at Liverpool until the end of his contract in 2013. “I sincerely believe I will win The Premier League and the European Cup here. The winning tradition is very clear at Liverpool. I want to be involved in a little piece of their history,” Torres told The Daily Mail. “I have lost count of how many times I have said I would only have left Atletico for Liverpool. Madrid are spending lots of money and I’m sure Sir Alex Ferguson will be looking for a big name to replace Ronaldo, but I’m very excited about what the boss is doing here at Liverpool. I believe we can be champions next season. “The white shirt of Madrid is very famous and for a lot of players their goal is to one day play for Madrid. The white shirt is a huge privilege for players, but for me the biggest privilege in Europe is the red shirt of Liverpool. “Money does not interest me. I’m very happy at Liverpool and wouldn’t leave just to earn more money somewhere else where I wouldn’t be that happy. To want any more would be greedy and that isn’t me. “As long as Liverpool want me, I will stay.”
  10. Ha. We'll have to agree to disagree as surely Benitez is aware of more than barry in the world of football to replace Alonso if he feels alonso can be improved on. I think he wanted to replace him with barry last year. Alonso has had a great year and now he wants to keep him. I think he tried to sign barry again as cover if Alonso would have demanded to leave or otherwise he would have kept the 2 with barry playing in all sorts of positions. Might be wrong but regardless I hope its sorted and Alonso is kept. Think it would have negative implications for the whole side if Alonso was sold now listening to the comments made by various players including carragher
  11. You think he wanted to, or you think he just thought there was no repairing their relationship. You might be right but if he did want to sell he has publicly spoken about alonso in a total different light this summer than last. IMO I dont think he wants to sell alonso now
  12. Mate whether we say he was poor or average whatever. But surely everyone would agree last season he was twice the player of the previous 2 years. Hence why Benitez doesnt want to sell him now, his value has doubled from last year and the like of carragher are saying he was player of the year. But I admit I was one who would have sold him last year for the best part of 20 million without doubt but he has imo been excellent this year and i hope we keep him and he and benitez sort out their differences.
  13. I think reading the various articles about it and taking into the account the bookies odds (they arent usually wrong) as things stand Johnson is coming to Liverpool. I suppose the problem being with football you never know and no doubt chelsea will come out and offer him the best part of 100k a week. Lets just hope Johnson has got a bit about him and makes the right decision. If he doesnt as Nick says hes not the kind of person we want playing for the club but I cant help thinking it will be a bit of a psychological blow. Lets Be honest we need a bit of good news at the minute with all this yank business, lack of money gossip and talk of masch an alonso wanting out. But... I think he will be in a Liverpool top before the end of the week
  14. Maybe, but I would have thought he was one of the top earners below torres and gerrard and maybe carragher? Although Im just guessing and dont know what the fuck half of them are earning. For me though I think mascherano could be replaced if push came to shove and although I would trather keep him if he wants to go and we got offered £30 million I would take it
  15. Id probably go along with that. Its easy for our heads to get turned by big names but I think most of us would agree we need a top wide player of somewhere near the level of torres and gerrard (difficult I know) Personally I think Silva is the player we need to be in for. If not maybe Robben although I cant see Rafa going for him. After that well Id be in for ashley young although no doubt the fee would be very high with o'neil trying to make us have it again!
  16. Its a bit poor on mascherano's behalf this though dont you think? Fair enough his agent is obviously stirring a lot of shit but even so he's got plenty of years ahead of him wouldnt he be better getting his head down rather than trying to get wages to the same level of torres and gerrard (players who in my opinion are on a different planet to him)
  17. Im pleased we are landing one of our targets anyway as to pay that money benitez obviously thinks hes a considerable improvement on our right back options - which only time will tell. It does seem an obscene amount of money for a player who 12 months ago over 6/7 million would have seemed inflated but unfortunately thats football. But I for one would much rather see us go out and buy players who are going to go in our first 11 than 'squad players.' If we see dossena and are owed money from the crouch deal then hopefully we will still have the money to get the top wide player we still need. But I think this shows that benitez genuinely thinks that for us to win the league we need to spend big on the 'final pieces of the jigsaw.'
  18. Its a lot of money but anyone anywhere near his standard the clubs will be asking 40 million for. He cannot be replaced. Good ridance to the greasy fuckin cheat. An yeh in the big games at times he gets marked out the game at times but how fucking often does he punish the shit teams. hence the difference why they won the league and we didnt.
  19. I cant see how anybody can think this isnt good news? Gerrard, torres, kaka, ronaldo and the barca trio probably make up the outstanding players in the world an I cant see United getting any of them so even with whatever money they get I dont see how they can replace him. No doubt they can buy a few very good players but nobody who can do waht ronaldo can do. I could not see ribery, silva, valencia anyone going to them scoring anywhere near the goals he did. Just hope we get the right players ourselves and it will be very interesting. Hopefully tevez will fuck off aswell an leave them
  20. Agger is a very good player with a potential to be one of the best around but have to say Id like to see a bit of patience from him. Sick of all these little comments he keeps making. Its frustrating because him and skrtel could be our centrebacks for the most of the next decade if he can just show some patience
  21. cheers for that mate. fantastic interview
  22. I think 88 points would probably win the league and dropping points in one would give us a fighting chance. I think dropping points in any more than 1 game and we wont do it. It is hard to say though because United are used to pressure but maybe not from Liverpool when they are looking to equal the 18 leagues!! I do worry about the likes of west ham away though - I have to say though. Hope we keep it up though till the end of the season as it would be very intersting then
  23. If Im being honest I probably would have waited till the end of the season but it has to be said that there are not many candidates and stablitiy is a good thing. Hopefully Rafa can do what we all want which is to take number 19. Im sure despite peoples opinions everyone is hoping Rafa can take us up that extra notch domestically and I wish him all the best!!
  24. Id rather not get the mancs being honest. dont think my heart could take a 2 leg match against them Hopefully united will get barca and arsenal vrs chelsea. We can take one of the others. Might sound a bit negative but would rather that then get chelsea united and barca which lets be honest would be hard fuckin work
  25. Fucks knows whats happening with Voranin. Cant say Iv watched him in germany but judging him on when he was at Liverpool sell him after his good season this year. Might make a few million on him which we quite clearly need.
