  1. I was impessed with Tom Huddlestone. When he has played a couple more seasons he could be great.
  2. I wish we had given it to him. Loved Macca. Oh boy, I was fcuked off.
  3. I agree. I want Insua to develop into our left back also. Someone was saying the other day that Leto is highly rated by Rafa, Gerrard on the right and Mascherano added to central midfield. Arbeloa to fight for a place real soon, by the looks of it. Second season for Kuyt and Gonzalez, who I think will both be better or even better, as the case may be. Blow the fucking lot on Eto, wonderful business
  4. The title says it all really. In my view, Steve could have done with the summer off after the cup final against the Hammers and he has suffered through playing for England at the WC. I'm not sure whether I buy into the notion that we benefit from him playing for England, they have a very average manager, no direction and they'll use him until his legs are gone. I blame England games partly for the premature demise of Michael Owen. Play even if not fully fit and fcuk the club that pay his wages and fans that watch week in and week out. It's a reason why I'm happy that Carra doesn't get picked although his inclusion in the squad and continued training through the summer may have contributed to an early season dip in form. Steve is only 26, but players do retire early for varying reasons and their presence at the top level has been enhanced because of it. Shearer to some extent and Scholes, although retired for a different reason, is benefitting nonetheless at club level. What are your views?
  5. In the game with Utd at the weekend he tried to score an absolutely brilliant goal that didn't stand. He has talent, no doubt about it.
  6. I saw Gerrards first few games and thought, he's the "next Phil Charnock". I was all for Cisse, then at the point of signing him I read a quote where he said something like, "my left foot is for standing on". My euphoria was at an end. Loved the Collymore signing. I SILL BELIEVE PENNANT WILL COME GOOD.
  7. The geezer sounds like a loony socialist.
  8. There is nothing in a partnership of Crouch and Fowler. I wouldn;t expect either to score playing together. I just don;t like the idea of thise two.
  9. Squad player at best and it's a relief to me that we still have Zenden to call on when Mascherano starts to play like Salif Diao. Good news for Stoke when they need a midfielder on loan next season I guess, if they can get clearance, that is. In reality I am made up. I think that he can become the worlds best player in his position. I have never been so pleased with a signing.
  10. Disdain aside, is he any good? Was hoping they would go down a couple of seasons back but they have made some reasonable signings,IMO.
  11. That article looks like the same stuff above with some crucial things added. I obviously hope its true though.
  12. Brilliant player. Good luck Markus,YNWA.
  13. I don@t like to see Jerzy being placed in the "bleeding the club dry" catagory. If I was to do that, I would be looking at some shit who never did it and cost us a fortune, not a player who I think was fucking brilliant for about 2 years and contributed to a champions league win after that. Its not like Leeds would have paid all his wages anyway.
  14. I see Dirk and Craig as 2nd strikers, both brilliant at what they do, so I would like to see a genuine goalscorer. I don't really want a little legs player with no strength. Fast and strong is what I am after. We were linked with an Argentinian forward who is supposed to be the next 'Batistuta' so I am assuming that he possesses those traits? Is Huntelaar a lightweight or is he reasonably tall with bodily strength? I would like to see Micah Richards at the club. I would like to see Javier Mascherano now and to have an insight into whether Insua is anywhere near first team level because if not, we need to look at a left back contender. Lahm is a good suggestion. We also have an Argentinian left winger arriving in the summer. One day one of these signings is going to be great. Hope it's him. In any event, I do see potential in Mark Gonzalez.
  15. It's just a feeling, but I don't think this thread is going the way it was intended. So, as a christian, I will forgive you my son. Lovely.
  16. These are all players who play in the business end of the big competitions, not one off chancers like some others have mentioned. When I hear the word overrated, I think Danny Murphy and Emile Heskey, both amazingly England internationals. I would rather have a player like Cassano who is capable of the sublime and live with the tag "overrated". In my way of thinking, he would be giving Pennant competition for right wing or a few other options as he is not the type of player constrained to the standard 4-4-2, which I;m sure Rafa would appreciate.
  17. Outragously talented, available and flawed. He is certainly a forward player but I don't see him as a striker. With Luis out I think that Cassano could offer us possibilities as he is very creative, has wonderful technique and frankly wouldn't give the ball away like Garcia tends to do. He has the talent to play midfield, centrally or on either wing. I would trust Rafa to work with Cassano and get him playing at the top of his game despite the fact that Cassano may be sensitive. I think we could get him on loan for the rest of the season with a view to a permanent transfer and that would give Rafa the insight needed to determine whether Antonio Cassano could make a contribution to our push for success in the future. I think that he could do better for us than Rosicky has been doing for Arsenal. He is an amazing talent and if Rafa could harness that, it would be an excellent move. Should we be interested in Cassano?
  18. Yes, it was a bit of a gamble for a name, mate. I don't pretend to have seen him in every game or even in lots of them, but what I have seen has really impressed me. True, it hasn't worked out at the Hammers, but I think they tried to play him (when he has played)more box to box than doing what he does best, protecting the defence. I would love him at Anfield.
  19. I was at Anfield for the CL semi. BOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every time that Filthy club had the ball. I think of that atmosphere and smile at least once a week. I refuse to think of them as Chelsea football club. They are a team in blue who play at the bridge who are supported by a Russian. There are no other fans, the crowd are spectators, some with scarfs. There name promoted on the back of cereal packets, thats them.
