  1. Bitter Harvest – A Modern History of Palestine by Sami Hadawi is considered by many to be the most objective tomb on the subject. It has the merit of being written by a Jew who clearly demonstrates there can be no moral justification for the existence of Israel. It’s an exceptionally well written and informative read.
  2. The above is without doubt the finest piece of penmanship ever posted on a football forum. Well said that man.
  3. Tired lazy bastard gives credence to stereotypical work-shy Scouser shocker!!!! I haven’t had a day off since October 26th 2009. Men like me deserve a knighthood, yet all I get are tax demands and increased alimony claims. Fuck em, I’m voting Marxist before launching a Guerrilla war on Old Etonians and the serial unemployed. Be warned!
  4. Very much enjoyed the point-of-thread-missing-musicals with my Sunday morning cuppa. Cheers to all four contributors. Here are a pair of utterly pointless facts for you. Peach is an anagram of cheap. The songs I listened to more than once were: Presidents of the USA (4) Frank Zappa (2) Stranglers (2) Fuck the Pain Away (1) Beat that for a Sunday morning muse with ya first brew of the day!
  5. Can anyone elaborate on the outrageous slur to this fine young things innocence, as detailed in the Sunday Times report copied below? Pics and pointless GIFs especially welcome. Ta. Peaches Geldof, the 21 year old daughter of Saint Bob Geldof of Live Aid was furious this morning after a series of photos appeared on the internet, purporting to depict a naked booze and heroin fuelled one night stand warmed up with viagra and polished off by a Scientology connection. The love rat who published the photos allegedly spent the night frantically trying to dislocate Peaches shapely hips with his persistently pumping pelvis after the couple got rat-arsed on booze and injected heroin. Salacious pictures of the liaison appeared on the internet in no time, apparently showing Peaches showing off her tattoos as well as her nakedness, and the accompanying text describes how the couple later visited some Scientology joint in order to purify themselves. What has particularly incensed the rather racy young lady over the affair is the allegation that she injected heroin, an allegation which she has furiously denied. The subject of heroin is a very touchy one as far as Peaches is concerned, as her mother, the late Paula Yates, herself died as a result of a heroin overdose. Which had some connection with INXS star Michael Hutchence popping his clogs in an Australian hotel room whilst indulging in some auto erotic asphyxiation high jinks. Peaches has confided to friends that she feels let down by the internet revelations and particularly that she has been associated with heroin. She is said to be studying her options with a view to subjecting the one night stand guy to a serious kicking. Rumours that Peaches is to star in a tattoo photo special with Michelle 'The Skanko Ultimo' McGee in 'Hot Biker Mama' magazine have yet to be confirmed.
  6. You have him confused with David Calvert who lives in Fleetwood. Calvert spent time at Barton Child and knew the area, especially the school grounds in Long Lane where the girl was raped. A prison officer doesn't think Calvert's crime should be kept secret. FWIW, neither do I.
  7. Nigella and a take-a-way, anything else is just girly. Real men don’t cook..........or wash-up. Fact.
  8. Dan Brown's suave symbologist Robert Langdon, star of the international phenomenon The Da Vinci Code, is set for a return to the literary stage in a new thriller this autumn. The long-awaited novel – one of the most anticipated in recent publishing history - will be called The Lost Symbol, and will take place over a 12-hour period. No more details were given about its content, but persistent rumours have suggested it will be set in Washington DC and will focus on freemasonry. It will be published on 15 September with an initial print run of 6.5 million copies – the largest first printing in publisher Random House's history. "This novel has been a strange and wonderful journey," said Brown. "Weaving five years of research into the story's 12-hour timeframe was an exhilarating challenge. Robert Langdon's life clearly moves a lot faster than mine." Fans of Brown's rapid-paced, page-turning novels kept The Da Vinci Code at the top of bestseller charts around the world for over a year when it was published in 2003. Today, it is the UK's bestselling adult paperback novel of all time – ahead of Brown's other titles Angels & Demons, Deception Point and Digital Fortress, which take second, third and fourth place. Announcing publication plans for The Lost Symbol today, Brown's US publisher Sonny Mehta described it as "a brilliant and compelling thriller" which was "well worth the wait". "Dan Brown's prodigious talent for storytelling, infused with history, codes and intrigue, is on full display in this new book," he said. "This is a great day for readers and booksellers." Brown's longterm US editor, Jason Kaufman, promised that, as ever, in The Lost Symbol "nothing ever is as it first appears". Brown scandalised Catholics in The Da Vinci Code by having Langdon discover that Jesus fathered a child with Mary Magdalene. A film of The Da Vinci Code was released in 2006, starring Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon. It was followed up on 15 May this year with the film of Angels and Demons. I'll wait for the film: Saving Private Langdon from having to read that shite.
  9. Cheers Pal, nice link. There's summat so special about a chick in a wooly hat. Communism rules!
  10. The first stone of the "Pont Neuf" was laid in 1578, but the work was completed only in 1604. Contrary to all architectural and structural considerations, it is now the most famous bridge in Paris for in fact it is two spans each anchored on the tip of the Isle de la Cité. For its time it was quite wide, constructed to house rows of shops, but in the the end Henri IV granted permission for transient commerce only. In early times (1775-1854) the bastions (supports?) were topped by shops. Unique to this bridge are the 384 ' grotesques' bizarre sculptured faces on the cornices. The bridge is classed as a "Monument historique". Well worth a look……………………….
