  1. I said this to a mate the other day. Part of the beauty of the original was the ending, and the ambiguity of it- the feeling that Brent had turned a corner, without actually seeing how that ended,or if he indeed even had. I'll still watch the film though.
  2. Come back on ELO and carry on playing
  3. Having told everyone the sky is falling I've since found an Independent article from last month that says the BT deal ends at the end of July, and UFC 200 will be showing on it. That said, there always seems to be a lot of misinformation around these TV deals, and what you think you're getting changes by the end of them anyway, like Bisping vs Silva last month. So I wouldn't put the house on it.
  4. Yeah, me too. Might finish me as an active UFC fan too, because I won't be paying for PPV and watching it on a week's delay will take much of the fun away.
  5. If you look on the Uk UFC website event schedule it lists the next few events as being on BT sport, but UFC 200 is listed as "live on pay per view". They're not going to, are they?!
  6. I tend to drink in larger groups these days,as most of my mates have kids and getting together is more of an event than it used to be. Being a competitive cunt I drink to the pace of the fastest drinker,so it can sometimes be difficult to pinpoint exactly which pint put me in mute, swaying, staring mode. Mate of mine tells a good story about me communicating with a cloakroom attendant using mime as I'd lost the ability to speak as well as my coat ticket.
  7. For some reason I can't rep at the moment, but when I can, I will.
  8. No, their butlers look after them until they are old enough to inherit their millions, before going on to a life of vigilante crime fighting. Dressed as a bat.
  9. The Stone Roses to release third album this summer, report claims The Stone Roses are gearing up to release their third album, a new report has claimed. The band's follow-up to 1994's 'Second Coming' will reportedly arrive this summer to coincide with their run of live dates, which includes four massive headline shows at Manchester's Etihad Stadium. According to The Mirror, a source said: "Ian Brown and the lads have been busy getting their next album ready. It will be album number three. It's a long time coming but they feel the time is right now. They've been back in the studio. Everyone is very excited about it." However, a spokesperson for the band apparently declined to comment when asked by the newspaper. The Stone Roses' bassist Mani said in 2013 that the band had been "working on a few bits" but there has been no official word on new music since then. In addition to their Manchester headline shows, The Stone Roses have gigs lined up in Dublin, New York and Japan, as well as a headline slot at T In The Park. See the Stone Roses' current live schedule in full below. Tokyo, Nippon Budokhan (June 2, 3) Manchester, Etihad Stadium (June 15, 17, 18, 19) New York, Madison Square Garden (June 30) T In The Park (July 8) Dublin, Marlay Park (July 9) NMETom Martin/NME Noel Gallagher previously said that he is not interested in seeing Stone Roses live unless the band record a new album. Speaking to Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2, Gallagher said: "I'm not planning to go to the gigs. I didn't really go to the last ones. I did a few gigs with them. If they're going to make a new record I'd go and see that but I've seen them before."
  10. My mate has had to totally re-jig his honeymoon plans because his Mrs wouldn't shit or piss outdoors on safari. He had to email the tour company on her behalf to confirm they don't have outhouses in the middle of the savanna because she didn't believe him.
  11. Why did he leave Southampton? Sounds like a juicy one... My mate knows someone who works in the office at Charlton, and he told everyone there to call him God.
  12. "I'm going to Amsterdam at the weekend, can't wait to go to Anne Frank's house" "Are you going to look for her?" "No, she's dead I think. Didn't Hitler find her?"
  13. People who stop dead the second they see blue lights in their rear view mirror, even if it is several cars back, blocking the route for the emergency vehicle anyway. I really think it should be made part of the test.
  14. I got it watched. I found it very interesting, but I couldn't quite get my head round the social significance of it. Everyone is quite open about the corruption element, so why does everyone get so bothered about it? I was trying to equate it with anything closer to home. Pro wrestling is pre-determined, but everyone knows that and those who go find the storylines entertaining rather than treating it as a sport. From what I've read, the amount of historical corruption in greyhound racing led to a massive decline in interest when it became public. So why is this so important to the people of Siena? Or is the sport the corruption itself?
  15. No it wouldn't, but this whole discussion is laden with double standards. I'm crediting him for wanting to stay, Enrique is labeled a waster. Sturbridge is slagged for not wanting to play injured, Henderson is being criticised because his form isn't great when he does. It's almost like we're a fickle bunch. The way I heard it, when suspended for 3 of the 4 last games of the run-in, he volunteered to do the media work to allow the rest of the squad to concentrate on the more important task of winning matches. If volunteering for something without it even being floated doesn't constitute taking responsibility then I'm not sure what does.
  16. 100%. I just don't happen to think Henderson is shit. He's playing poorly by his standards of the Brendan era, but I think once he's over the injury he'll be just fine and well suited to the way we will look to play. I don't think he does hide, I think he does look to take responsibility, from what I see. He could have snuck off to Fulham with his tail between his legs, but he stayed. He apparently did all the media work in the run-in two years ago while he was suspended so that rest of the team could concentrate on the games. That speaks of someone with character who takes responsibility in my eyes. Maybe I'll be proved wrong, but I think we should cut him some slack.
  17. These days, I watch Liverpool and not a lot else. I know what's going on from what I hear on Football Weekly when I'm in the gym but if you've watched a game of German or Spanish football in the last 5 years you're going to be better informed than me. Can we really aspire to those teams at the moment though? With some astute business in the summer we could get back to the style of 13/14 fairly easily and go from there. We don't have the players of Bayern's quality, but nor did Dortmund on the whole did they? I've seen Sahin outside of their system and I wasn't impressed. Inside their system though, great. We can aspire to having a system that works-a great team- if that doesn't include "great" players I'm not worried. Genuine question, did you think Henderson was crap before the injury?
  18. But who does play with a top quality defensive midfielder or playmaker anymore? The days of the 4-2-3-1, "the crushing machine", look to be over in this league- at least to my untrained eye. Winning possession high up the field, quick counters, seem to be the modern way. Those are things very much in-keeping with Henderson's skill set. I've been led to believe by people who watched them that that's how Klopp's Dortmund played at their best. Don't get me wrong, if we can get some Football Manager-esque regenerated 18 year old versions of Alonso and Mascherano from somewhere in the summer then I'm all in, but the game has evolved since 2008 and I don't know if that's what Klopp wants to be honest. It doesn't particularly chime with "heavy metal" football.
  19. No, I'm saying a team can be greater than the sum of it's parts. Not every player needs to be a superstar, as Leicester have proved so far this season- as we arguably did two years ago. Henderson was a key component in that side two years ago, and once he's back up to speed I think he will be again. I think he's a good player, most in this thread don't seem to agree. It doesn't mean he can't be and hasn't been part of good Liverpool teams. Klopp simply isn't going to rip out the whole 11 and start again, so I'd say it's fairly safe to assume Henderson will be here next season. I don't think he's playing well at the moment- he's probably playing a bit within himself due to the injury and not showing the "balls" as he tries to play himself back into form. He'll know better than anyone that he's not playing to his potential. But that's not to say he won't again and I'm not willing to throw the baby out with the bath water because we didn't perform away from home in Europe. Something we haven't done for probably 7 years anyway.
