  1. Nice sentiment but it would be a disaster in practice.
  2. He had me until "Mascherano can't pass" and "Alonso tends to hide".
  3. You have the logic back to front. They aren't refusing to sell because he's forcing a move. He has to force a move because they won't sell to us.
  4. Exactly. Fergie is kicking up a stink because he still rates the player. If we had offered 6 million for someone like Quentin Richardson, they wouldn't be nearly as indignant about "selling to a rival".
  5. He does look quality but I'm not getting my hopes up. Cheyrou also seemed a fantastic player in pre-season.
  6. If the trophy was the CL: YES. If the trophy was the FA/Carling Cup: NO
  7. Excellent news. I'm probably in the minority here but I think he's a cracking player and would have been happy swapping him with Bellamy, who did nothing last season. The additional fee is a nice bonus.
  8. Gotta love the BS.
  9. I'm amazed at how quick his feet are. For so many of these goals, it seems like he HAS to take another touch or two but then suddenly the ball is over the line. It's beyond me how anyone can think Bent is in the same class as this guy.
  10. Class!!! (the goatee and the new deal).
  11. What's the status on their new contracts? It was reported a couple of weeks ago that their signatures were imminent but it appears the deals have not been confirmed anywhere. The official site only mention Stevie, Xabi, Pepe & Carra in their various reports.
  12. Yes, we were the better team and yes, Milan fluked it. But our lack of cutting edge allowed them to fluke it. Given our tactical superiority, their sub-par performance and the possession we had, we should've been at least one up before they scored. A bit more quality in the final third (ie. clinical striker & top quality winger) and Milan's "luck" would have been moot. They were there for the taking.
  13. Why is everyone so obsessed with us?

  15. I could care less whether he "deserves" to start. He's the best option we have down the left currently. Zenden & Gonzalez have contributed little down that side and I want Riise rather than Arbeloa at left back.
  16. "But I know we paid a high price for the Premiership fightback which we needed at Everton to turn a 2-0 scoreline into a 4-2 victory." WTF is he on about? They were handed 3 goals on a silver platter by the Blueshite.
  17. Chelsea were 80 million in debt when Abramovich arrived so you can add that to the tally.
  18. Agreed. They both bring totally different yet equally important qualities to the midfield. Mascherano provides defensive protection, tough tackling and tidy short passing. However, he lacks the long-range accuracy, creative invention and goal-threat that Xabi provides. Although a midfield two of Alonso/Mascherano is a little too defensive for some games, I do think they are complementary players. If anyone is threatened by Mascherano's emergence, it's Momo.
  19. :D Given the average ratio of penalties/goals, about 70% of the time. It's called playing advantage moron.:wallbutt:
  20. We're one match away from winning the premier club competition in the world. Chelsea may well end the season with only a Carling Cup in the cabinet. Bravo to them for their "efforts" in all 4 competitions.:tease:
