  1. The Summer '09 Transfer Speculation Thread has turned into a discussion on Dirk, the player least likely to be involved in any kind of transfer during the summer of '09. Hurrah!
  2. I reckon he wants to go for numerous reasons, but I would have expected him to get quite a lot of games both at right and left back, perhaps even in the centre (against "lesser" teams). He'd be the perfect versatile back up defender, really. If the fee of 4.5 is correct, that's classic LFC business, isn't it? I am aware of his contract situation, but still.
  3. Macia probably thought it was a passport. Or something.

  5. I guess the core of the points many are trying to make is that we don't want him to make any mistakes(!), and we don't want any bad players. We don't want them even if they're free, hell, I wouldn't want a bad player even if we were paid to take him. Of course, your points are totally valid, but they can and will be debated. We need to be able to hold two thoughts at once, and even though we are mighty impressed with many signings, we also see that something is not always right. The shortcomings of our scouting are plain to see, so there should not be any surprise at these serious questions being asked. All managers make mistakes, but if Rafa stops making them while the others continue, success is looming heavliy. (INSERT BIG FAT SMILEY FACE HERE)
  6. Are you saying there had to be a second spitter?
  7. The thread has gone off topic, nothing wrong in pointing that out.
  8. I understand your point of view. Generally I'm very disappointed in players being unable to handle that kind of situation, especially a very experienced 28 year old PL star.
  9. I am surprised you even bother replying. It is certainly a paradox that many aspects of our transfer dealings seem very coincidental, while most of Rafa's other methods are very thorough. The questions you pose regarding Macia's involvement and influence need some kind of light shed on them, I agree. Still, I can't go along with your views on the Keane saga - any way you look at it, he should have performed a lot better, and that he didn't is not Rafa's fault. Whether he should have been signed in the first place, is of course another question, and that's where research into mentality etc comes into the picture.
  10. You have valid points about our transfers in general, but let me ask you this: If Rafa is an outstanding coach, one of the best in world football, why didn't he know how to use Keane? My view is that Keane turned out to be nowhere near good enough, with a shit attitude to boot, and hisn failure at LFC is his own responsibility.
  11. Didn't Rafa already do this, at least with regards to Masch? If I'm not totally mistaken, he said something along the lines of "Barca can't afford him, as he'll cost about £40-50m".
  12. This Diouf fellow was on Norwegian telly just now. The reporter suggested that he'd marry his Norwegian girlfriend in order to obtain the work permit, after then being made a Norwegian citizen. Good to see the journos of unitedland so eager to help. Naturally, the young man didn't quite know what to answer to the question "What would you rather do, play enough internationals for Senegal, or get married?".
  13. But Xabi is so good looking, why would he do something like that?
  14. I have seen that fucker too. I guess it is difficult to filter out that kind of pollution. It's not where the "big hair, Big tashes, not so big shorts" thing is though, and I am happy to not be able to find it anywhere right now. It looks like an ad from a company in Unitedland, the country formerly known as Norway.
  15. So it seems. He's a central defender, according to liverpool.no, who also reports that Borussia Dortmund are very upset about this transfer, for some reason.
  16. No, Rafa will go there just to sell Xabi. It's what makes him tick.
  17. Of the seven games Gerrard didn't feature in last season due to injury, we drew five. I bet we'd have won a couple of those games with him fit.
  18. No, I didn't mean that there was anything wrong with the question, sorry if it seemed that way.
