  1. I think they will sell as soon as they get a decent offer. They are investors ultimately despite what the PR might say and they bought us ultimately to make money at some point. It's almost certain that when the time comes the next person in will want to do the same. Much more than FSG's failings currently that's our biggest risk as who knows how the next people through the door will want to make that money. We could be faced with anything. I'd class FSG as middle of the road owners. They won't bankrupt us but we won't win anything with them either. Any extreme is possible with someone new.

  3. Totally agree. If there was a taker I'd prefer we sold him rather than loaned him out.
  4. Ennis by a street. Could be bitterness but this old article is enough to cast doubts about Sharapova's filthiness for me... Maroon 5 | Levine: 'Sharapova Was Bad Between The Sheets' | Contactmusic Levine: 'Sharapova Was Bad Between The Sheets' MAROON 5 singer ADAM LEVINE ditched MARIA SHARAPOVA because she is a "terrible lover" who refused to move or moan during sex. The pair dated briefly in 2005, after meeting at the Russian Wimbledon champion's 18th birthday party - but their romance soon fell cold. Levine tells Russian magazine Exile, "She wouldn't make any noise during sex. "I can't tell you how disappointed I was. I really thought, like a lot of guys, that she'd be the loud screaming type. But instead, she just lay there like a dead frog. She even got angry if I started to moan, said it 'ruined her concentration.' It was so disillusioning that I went on Paxil (an antidepressant) for a month afterwards. Really, it was much more of a shock than when I found out there's no such thing as the Easter Bunny."
  5. We have huge potential because of the size of our current fanbase but to achieve the growth needed we need someone with large sums of money to invest initially. FSG will not do this as they are completely risk averse and will not put too much money in the LFC basket. Instead their focus is on quick commercial wins and controlling the wage bill. Both of these make the club more profitable and will give them the option to either take dividends at a later date or sell at a greater price than they bought the club depending on which seems more attractive. They are far better owners than Hicks & Gillett but that doesn't mean they are the right owners for Liverpool. With the right investment in the club to make us a regular Champions league club, with a bigger ground and the right commercial partnerships we could self-sustain at the top level as United could without the Glazer debt. Under FSG we will consolidate around where we are now and while that's far more acceptable than we had 2 years ago it is still not acceptable for LFC.
  6. Two managers managing in completely different eras Two managers whose boards have completely different levels of patience One manager at a club relatively financially disadvantaged in terms of their league compared to the other. One manager who had defeated Real Madrid in a European final with a team from outside the Old Firm. This was after beating Bayern Munich over 2 legs. One manager who could virtually pick the job he wanted and had turned down many good offers. etc Rodgers will only deserve any level of comparison with Ferguson once he has achieved anything in the game. So far his achievements are similar to what Ferguson achieved at St Mirren and not much more (they actually sacked him too). There are dozens of managers that would fall into this category and barely any of them will achieve what Ferguson has. For the record, I have very low expectations of this coming season as I did last year and the year before. I won't necessarily consider it Brendan's fault if we don't achieve anything but just a symptom of a club that has been run terribly from the top for a very long time.
  7. First impressions of Butland is that he's a very good shot stopper whose distribution is very poor. Rodgers has said he likes keepers to be able to play the ball well so I'd be amazed if we were considering any decent sized offer for him. Reckon he will follow well in the footsteps of Kirkland, Carson and Foster as over-hyped young English keepers who don't make the grade myself.
  8. European leagues are far stronger than South American leagues. Here's a few more for you... The last 5 world club cups have been won by European teams. South American sides made 4 of the finals and lost 10-3 on aggregate. The year they missed the final it was the Brazilian side Internacional who failed to reach it after losing 2-0 to a side from DR Congo. The best players in the Brazilian league are generally young prospects or old veterans whose legs aren't up to the European leagues anymore (Ronaldinho is a good example now and Romario was averaging just short of a goal a game at the age of 40). The best players leave during their prime for higher wages and a better standard of football in Europe. For every Ronaldo or Romario who become top players there are many, many Klebersons and Denilsons who come with hype and don't live up to it. If anyone still fancies disagreeing that's up to them but I've only repeated the sort of thing that most people already know.
  9. Lucas Leiva was an attacking midfielder there and Player of the Year at the age of 19 prior to joining us and taking several years to adapt to becoming a defensive minded player here. That sums up the standard of the league and your knowledge of football perfectly for me
  10. Totally disagree with this. Ronaldo turned out to be great but it doesn't follow that this lad will be. Fancy YouTube videos aside the reality is it is a 26 million pound gamble on potential for someone who has done slightly better than ok in a very poor league. Other than his nationality it wouldn't look out of place in our transfer dealings in recent years. It might work out for them or it might be a terrible bit of business. Time will tell.
  11. The club has been a soap opera now for that many years it's no surprise to see it's now broadcasting as one. This is a cynical marketing ploy for as Ian Ayre would call it the "non-football side of the business" to make more money in the States. I understand that this is now the way of the world but I resent that the Club is using the working class support as a big selling point while pricing that element of support out of the game. The club and the game are now run by corporate sharks and sadly that's never going to change. When this programme was commissioned they would have already decided that Kenny would be leaving and were probably delighted that the drama would be captured on film. I don't need to add more than that.
  12. Rooney had no job on Pirlo. Hodgson's teams don't press. I remember a leak that came out while he was here about a scout telling him to make sure we closed down Charlie Adam when Blackpool came to Anfield as it would negate any attacking threat they had. The scout was told that we wouldn't as we just don't play that way and pressing is something we wouldn't do under any circumstance. Charlie Adam then proceeded to destroy us. Pirlo is a class player who put in the best performance I've seen from him last night. He was allowed to do it due to Hodgson's prehistoric tactics.
  13. My mate is a Derby fan and he told me before the fixtures were released they always get a newly promoted team at home and he thought it was a welcome into the big league as they have one of the larger crowds. Ten minutes later we saw they had Sheff Wed at home. I agree they're fixed to an extent.
  14. We really do have some bad bellends following us. His comment was barely worth a mention never mind all of the faux outrage that's being spouted. Some people are just looking for any excuse to have a go at Carra because they want to convince everyone that he's the big bad guy despite him being a great player for this club. Fucking knobheads.
  15. To be honest I'd have no issue if Rodgers didn't want Clarke to continue. We've been defensively fairly solid by playing passive, organised football with a deep line when we don't have the ball. It's very different from the pressing high energy game that Rodgers is looking for and he just might not feel that Clarke can provide the coaching that's needed for the new style.
  16. I hate the concept of a DoF and if there isn't one I'd be delighted. I would definitely take Brendan Rodgers without a Director of Football than take him with one. I think much of the clamour for a Director of Football stems from perhaps a lack of trust in the new manager and the fact it makes it more difficult to understand the thought process of employing him without one. Not speaking for everyone but it's just the perception I have of some of the posts.
  17. I probably have less emotions about this appointment than any in my adult lifetime. With Houllier and Benitez there was optimism about their records and what they could achieve. With Hodgson there were concerns about his style of play and ability. With The King there was just sheer joy at being able to enjoy football again. With Rodgers there are parts of his team's play which I like (mainly without the ball) and parts that I don't (concerns that passing around the defence won't break down teams who park the bus). I have absolutely no idea what he's capable of but just hopeful that he adapts. It's a real clean slate that he has as far as I'm concerned and his ability and our performance over time will ultimately shape my thoughts. I'm also definitely in on not making hasty judgements on him but then I was in on that before FSG sacked the King too.
  18. It's probably the one part of our play that has frustrated me more than any other. When we did press against Chelsea at Anfield we destroyed them so it makes me hopeful of improvement.
  19. I commented as much when they took over. If I want someone to fail to read my mind and to talk on my behalf with opinions that resemble my shite after a night on the Guinness then I'll make sure I give you a shout.
  20. Captain, we have different opinions on this and time will tell who is right. I very much hope that you are.
  21. Maybe we recall differently but I do recall a lot of people lapping up PR exercises about them being a different type of American owners, the success of Boston and our similarity to them and bullshit about Liverpool supporting staff members persuading them to buy us. There are still people now saying we should thank them for rescuing us from Hicks and Gillett. We owe them nothing. They bought us to make money and they will make their money no matter who they need to trample on to get it.
  22. If we had FSG in charge on that date May 25th 2005 would have been about one thing and one thing only for the people that run this club. Getting back into the Champions League. People can spin it whatever way they want but they are leeches out to line their pockets just like the last lot only doing it a different way. It embarrasses me that people were cheering them in to Anfield as much as they were cheering the last parasites out.
  23. I'm despairing of the club as much as you but Norwich didn't beat us this season. They were hammered away and very lucky to get a point at Anfield. There was a quote when the Chelsea job first came up a few months ago from Rodgers saying he wouldn't go there because he was trying to build a career and not destroy it. I couldn't see him leaving for there while Abramovich still owns them due to the lack of job security. For the same reason I can't see him ending up here either.
  24. To be fair in his time there they have sold Valencia, Nzogbia, Cattermole, Heskey, Palacios and Ryan Taylor who were all very good players for Wigan and in the main he hasn't been able to spend the money. They've made a profit of around 10 million in the transfer market overall so he has done very well to keep them up. I don't particularly want him as manager but just pointing out that you're incorrect.
