  1. True, but I think he could improve it significantly. Quinn was pure and utter shite until he was about 26/27 I mean he was awful, could hardly run without falling over. He hit his peak between about about 30 and 33 when he was unplayable in some ways.
  2. Here is what Wenger said about Niall Quinn, when I hear this I can see why he might be interested in Crouch. "It is one of my biggest regrets that he was not here during my time," Wenger said, to a slightly startled group of journalists when asked about Quinn on Friday. Wenger, whose young side are unbeaten going into today's game and producing the style of football for which he is renowned, said Quinn, often unfairly written off as a cumbersome target man during his time at Arsenal, was an intelligent team player who was so precise with his aerial distribution it was as if he had " a hand for a head". "I felt he was an intelligent player. It would have been a good combination with Thierry Henry. What I like with Niall Quinn is if you look at the player who played next to him, he always scored 40 goals because he had a hand for his head and he just put the ball where you were. He was a team player. A top-class player makes other players look good and he had that quality."
  3. For 11.8million, the reported fee, I think we should snap that up. Flog world beaters Yossi and Pennant and you'd have most of that fee. Its a bit of a gamble but would be well worth taking.
  4. Daniel Taylor has been badly exposed as being yet another spineless Ferguson lackey who reports what he is told to report. The article works on 2 levels because of this and his, and other journos, admiting the cover up only serves to prove something that everyone already knows
  5. Why thank you, I'm always the voice of reason, its why I've been fanboyed into serious neggage.
  6. he cost 5. we've got little to no money and the only way it seems we can generate it it to sell some squad players. as I've said before, sell the fringe players and buy quality, supplement the squad with the reserves and youth team. manyoo won the league doing it 2 years back.
  7. Ya see, I hate this shit. Yossi is better than Modric, Kuyt is better than Robben/Van Persie, Babel is going to be world class this season once he develops his first touch/decision making/stamina. As I've said before, there is bound to be a degree of partizanship on the forum, but this myopic view of the team is getting some lads nowhere. Believe it or not we actually have weaknesses and denying that they exist won't make them go away.
  8. Anything over 5 million and we should let him go.
  9. many good games in fact. sometimes you can just see when a player has it, and he has it
  10. I think we got Torres on the cheap all things considered. You bracketed him at 12 million, thats less than Carrick, Nani and co and about the same as Babel. You could play the comparison game all day. He'd be up there with Villa in terms of a transfer fee, plus he's only 20. I've seen enough from him to think he is worth that money, without any doubt. Lyon played a lone striker against United and he gave the United back four huge problems, even Torres didn't do that.
  11. In all fairness like. Benzema is in the 25-30 million bracket and quite possibly will be the top forward in world football in 3 or 4 years. He's got the lot, and in a team of gutless sulkers last night, he kept going right till the end. Can't believe some of the stuff I'm reading.
  12. That fat heap of shit probably hasn't even seen their games. Lot of teams worse than Sweden, that said, I think Russia might sneak past them.
  13. Ferguson said he'll walk before he lets him be sold without his permission. Would it be too much to ask that they lose them both?
  14. They are. The biggest feeder club in the world
  15. I know a lad who watches the Russian league and according to him Branislav Ivanovic is meant to be absolutley outstanding, supposedly the new Vidic and he tells me that he will break into the Cheslea team this year over Terry ( I have my doubts but thats what he says). Also said he couldn't understand why we went for him over Skyrtle.
  16. quiet sheep or should i say baaaa
  17. See, that's a good post, well reasoned and i can take that on board. I disagree with it given our finanical circumstances and the needs of the first team(which was what the thread was about), but I take your point about his good qualities which I have acknowledged a few times.
  18. Yes, he did, in place of Van Nistleroy.
  19. I think he is a good enough player with those qualities you mentioned, but i think he is all wrong for that position. Sissoko had even greater physical capabilities and he was sold to improve the team as a better option became available.
  20. Yes, good call and bring in the super hardworking and honest as the day is long Brian McBride , he might be mainly shit but that lad will stick his head on the end of a boot full of studs and get up for more. Forget Torres and his skills, hard grafting and putting in the miles is what appeals to the more cultured lfc superfan these days:whistle:
  21. Thats a load of bullshit, I have the same opinion of Kuyt for quite a while, that is :great attitude, great person, not good enough to play in the position he plays. Pretty sure you said he wasn't good enough either for the right wing/inside forward position during the year and should be kept as a squad player. Have you now changed that opinion? As we are skint we need to cut our coat according to the cloth we have, and that probably means wheeling and dealing. If one of our most sellable assets that doesn't quite fit the setup of our team could be used to upgrade the team in an area where we need quality, I see no reason why this option shouldn't be considered. But hey, its easier to jump on the Superman wear Dirk pyjamas bandwagon
