  1. I don't really think FSG's strategic acumen (or lack of it) matters here or there any more. Look at what City's owner spent over the last eighteen months, and what Chelsea's owner spent today. I can't imagine any 'clever' strategy that could compete. The only plausible option is to seek out one more individual who wants to launder money on a global scale. Medellin, anyone?
  2. That's ridiculous. Missing an ambitious target by a shade and missing it by a mile are totally different things. It's a judgement call, not a lottery. Presumably the judgement was that KK had essentially no chance of meeting the target for next year, given the performance this year.
  3. "You don't have to use short passes," the new England manager could be heard shouting at one point. "Not if you want to use your big man up front." Memories are made of this...
  4. We're being extremely successful at confusing the press, at least, judging from this round-up of headlines: Daily Mail: LFC still interest Capello Sky Sports: Laudrup wanted Daily Mail: AVB set to meet Anfield chiefs Daily Express: Pep Guardiola joins Anfield's list Echo: Rodgers and Martinez link BBC: No front-runners for job
  5. "Liverpool’s possession of 38% in this game was their lowest in a Premier League match this season." Dalglish: "We've just got to keep believing what they're doing to be correct." fukuroudō - the Way of the Owl
  6. "I think they did as well as they possibly could and were unlucky not to get a result." Dalglish continued: "It's a credit to the players" That's a relief, at least. I was afraid we'd played badly.
  7. This is the first football shirt in 20 years that you could wear without a. Being under the age of 19 or b. Being part of a 'care in the community' scheme. I can't believe people are arguing about it.
  8. This is a market in Thailand. If you can find more details, I'll go and buy a couple. The sign doesn't help - it's an advert for Pepsi or something (can't read the last word). Nothing to do with the shirts. Possibly Warrior got a factory over here to do some prototypes, and the Thais have nicked them. I'll keep my eyes peeled.
  9. Let me put it another way then: what would be your list of our BEST ten signings over the same period? Would he be on that list?
  10. Bring him back I think hat was sort of my point.
  11. In my humble opinion, there are only two possible things to do with this thread: 1. Rename it: "But Senor Torres, where did it all go wrong?" 2) Delete it before some Chelsea fan points out that we (37 points behind United) have spent 73 pages taunting him (CL finalist) for leaving.
  12. Agreed. So where would you place him on this list (1-10): Dossena Keane Poulsen Jovanovic Cole Adams Henderson Downing Carroll
  13. When I was a kid (longer ago than you, I regret) the whole of Merseyside came to a standstill on cup final day (FA Cup, I mean). I remember my dad sending me down to the shops at half time for half an ounce of Golden Virginia (I was about 10 at the time), and there wasn't a car on the roads. I don't even think there was a local team in the final that year.
  14. Hes very one dimensional What exactly do you see that one dimension as being? Not scoring goals, clearly. If it was. we wouldn't have a problem.
  15. If Carroll's been confident, why has he played like a pub footballer all season? Lack of confidence was the one fig-leaf we had, and they just tore it away. It's like the claim that he didn't dive against the barcodes: we'd all better f****g pray that he DID dive, because the alternative doesn't bear thinking about... I'd just rather the club didn't say anything, really. Talk about the weather or something.
  16. Offal: "Carroll: I always had confidence". Didn't read further / can't bear to read it anymore. OK, they have to toe the party line, it's their job. But it's turning into North Korea in there.
