  1. whats all this about insanity and insolvency. who is? we are fine i reckon. chelsea is the most over 50% i guess and they are fine too. anyway if some club is so stupid to spend more than they should and they go insane and have to play div 3 or something who cares? there are plenty of clubs out there ready to take their place. it wouldnt make any difference if a dozen clubs disappeared. if liverpool did it by hard work and success on the field why cant charlton too without being babied and told how to run there finances? running a club wouldnt be any fun for the chairman if he couldnt make any decisions. it must be part of profesional club footie a club spending to win and then their players ageing and them going thru a rebuilding period and then when they think it is right making a big push again. there should be dynmics and unpredictability in this. everyone working hard and only being sane would be too boring.
  2. Lets win the next game. Who cares what it is. For some reason I think that it would be more of a smack to Chelsea if we beat them in the CL. It would be more like rubbing it in to their supporters that we knocked them out last year. But I wonder what the managers strategy will be. I think it must be psychologically really tough to play the same massive match twice in four days or whatever? Not even a change of pitch. How do you think he will use the squad?
  3. id keep reina, finnan (until barragan deserves a chance), get a good defender to play beside carra, give warnock a run at leftback, move gerrard to the right, get someone like diarra to play in the middle with sissoko, get someone to play on the left and have kuyt play up front with crouch. you could put flo and traore on the bench (and garcia if it werent a league game). this squad might not be very super but id like it better.
  4. if you had a salary cap what would it be? and why would you have it?
  5. How about deciding the champions on wins and if there is a tie on draws? Games arent played at the proper time because of TV. Having a quota on foreign players is less bad but a tariff would be better. The reason for high ticket prices is supply and demand and the high cost of construction, which makes it uneconomic to build bigger stadiums. Price controls on tickets would be OK but bringing back the standing areas would be better because more people could go to the games then. I dont know but Anfield could maybe hold 80,000 standing and that would mean that ticket prices could be halved.
  6. 1. ban tv coverage 2. ban foreign players 3. bring back the standing areas, yeah
  7. I guess that we all want the same thing. Everyone talks about the Americans because in the past very few people have felt that anything was very wrong in the West. The cause of our disagreement is that some people are willing to admit that something is wrong with us whereas others are not. That is a hard thing to do to admit that a part of what you love is the exact opposite of what you have always loved it for. But because you cannot admit that what some of your people do is very bad you try to support it and defend it and justify it and that is what allows it to continue and grow worse. Those who do the evil use your goodness to terrorize you and may you feel afraid and in your insecurity you do not feel that you can look after yourself and put yourself ever more under their power.
  8. Hermes, I apologize to you. If I had been writing on paper I would have thrown it away. My hypocrisy is terrible.
  9. yes, they are the worst. if we was russians then maybe we would be more interested in what they do but since we isnt why should we write about them? their killing people does not make it ok for us to do it. you bring the russians up because you are a coward and want to hide from the truth.
  10. Hello redrosetints, we made bids for a hell of a lot of players and signed several players for the reserves. i claimed that we didnt have any firm targets for the right wing this summer (except figo, whom i forgot about). we tried to sign gonzalez for the left wing. gerrard can play on the right wing too. when did we make bids for stelios, solano, simao? do you think benitez told parry before the transfer window opened that he wanted one of these players this summer?
  11. this story is pr. replaced some of the old scouts. now submit their reports to us easier and quicker. big fucking deal. then again, perhaps benitez missed out on the players he wanted because he was busy putting into place his new system.
  12. i cant argue with you when you put it like that. id forgotten how hed offered himself to us at the beginning of june. (i forgot about zenden too. but not for the right wing.) it was never going to be easy signing figo, though. theres nothing wrong with that but if you dont have a backup plan in a case like that then youre not doing your business.
  13. js_, i liked nick's idea that we demand answers. sure, he wanted dave to do all the hard work but what we can do we must do together. i think that we should make a petition demanding a full investigation into what happened. the club should appoint a lead investigator and he should formulate the questions that need to be answered and these should be made public by the club so that we can know if the investigator is any good because if he cant ask the right questions hes never going to be able to answer them. then when the investigation is concluded the club should publish some kind of a public digest of its findings. this is standard practice in any disaster. we are competing against abramovich and if he wants to build a dynasty that is no joke. you dont know how serious and how efficient he is and what things he has done to that club. if you think you can compete in modern football club doing things like you did twenty-five years ago i guess you are wrong.
  14. move on? what do you mean, move on? move on, as in that was last week i never really cared i only wanted to have a lil fit now everything will be better again?
  15. i dont think benitez gives a damn about the new stadium. he only cares about winning. hes not a fucking wenger thinking about the bottom line and his share options. he is looking at the long term so hes more picky about the players he buys and hes a fucking perfectionist so that makes it harder. but the people wanting to buy galacticos like whores who are older than they look in order to win something because thats all it means to them are missing whats best and about supporting a team. i figure the only firm targets benitez had this summer where reina, couch, kuyt, milito and the left-over gonzalez. he didnt have one fucking target for the right wing. prove me wrong! the only players he truely wanted on the right were juanfran and xabi prieto but he tried to get them last summer and failed. benitez is a wonderful coach and you can see the things hes done with carra but his attitude about new players is totally irresponsible. look at the how he got sissoko he fucking read it in a newspaper it took goddamned moyes for him to get the player. hes not doing his job and the club should have a director of football and i think that would be much better. the club needs someone, too, who can do deals because they didnt get milito and they should have got milito and its a fucking shame they didnt.
  16. I took your implicit trust to be exactly what I said. But I didnt mean to be patronizing about it.
  17. I know, hes a darling. How can you not love him? They treat him like shit and then he goes and says something like this. It makes you want to cry. But it was awfull last season with him all trusting and happy and Don Benitez ready to put a knife in his heart.
  18. I guess that we cannot know who is to blame. But the important thing is that we use this experience to improve the club. If everyone will be open about what went wrong and not pretending it is OK and there is nothing to do and making warm sootheing sounds like Parry was doing the other day then we will end up stronger than if we had gotten our Solano or our Stelios this summer.
  19. Paul, I think what you said about doing things differently is really important and means a lot for this club, but its not arrogance to be critical of anyone. Of course, you may not wish your relationship with the club to be based on anything except blind unquestioning faith and feeling all good and warm inside but that is not how it is for everyone in modern football.
