paul mcgraths book is good. its about as honest as they come
-
i think hes a good player. although i wouldnt put him on the wing

the thing is i know there are a lot better strikers out there but 1) we dont have the money to buy proven top class back up 2) i think rafa has shown on many occasions that even when Torres is out he preffers to play 1 up front and 3) he's a rafa type player as in he's strong, good work rate etc. I'm not a fan of rafa by any means in fact im probably one of his biggest critics but the fact is he's here to stay. we're not gonna go out and sign the flair players that everyone wants us to sign like arshavin cos thats just not how he does things. sure he described dirk kuyt as being "always fantastic" after he sold keane My point is that there are a lot of better strikers out there than Doyle but not many better options that would fit into rafas system and way of playing without costing a fortune

i am irish but i'm not a big fan of international football however i do watch all the irish games and he stands out head and shoulders above the rest in every single game. I'm not saying he would be first choice by any means but if you look at the system that rafa likes to play, there's no one else that can play up top on their own in the squad. i know we need to strengthen other areas of the team first but we are desperately short of cover for Torres. i just think he does everything right as a centre forward and would be good back up for Torres without breaking the bank. i also think some people around here are too quick to dismiss players ability that dont play for us. i mean can anyone honestly say they'd rate kuyt if he didnt play for us?

I think he's class. and if we're looking for a striker that can play up on his own when Torres is injured i think he'd be a good shout. he's got pace and can run at teams, can hold the ball up well, good in the air and can finish well and has a physical presence about him

i wouldnt blame lucas for last night or i wouldnt blame kuyt either but i cant believe how much people defend them. have yous got any standards whatsoever? the fact that kuyt and lucas are perceived to be good enough for liverpool by our manager is one of our weaknesses and one of the reasons why we'll probably win nothing
-
and he'll probably play but not even get a game for the reserves beforehand

thats pretty much the team id like to see week in week out. although id love to see how mascherano would do at right back

and their manager takes a chance and gets players into the box when they need a goal -
but does anyone actually think we will?

keane played well and scored against arsenal and bolton. it finally looked like he was gonna start playin well. as soon as kuyt got taken off against bolton i knew keane would be dropped against newcastle. he didnt even get a run late on. no wonder he didnt play well against preston. can you imagine kuyt getting treated like that? dont think so

no wonder people are sayin rafas getting more and more like houllier. jesus christ i dread the thought of seeing heskey back
-
he's improved over the last year and is exactly the type of full back we need. arbeloa is only average and johnson is the only right back i can think of that would be available with all the attributes we need
-
you know id love to see what mascherano would be like at right back. stevie and xabi have looked good in the middle this season but you need mascherano in the team. i remember thinking a few times during games where we needed a goal to take off arbeloa, put the chief back to RB, stevie in the middle and put another striker on

if we do win the league or even come close this year it'll be in spite of rafa not because of him. he has the players there but stubborness and his fuckin agendas and lotal lack of man management hold us back. no wonder babel and keane havent done well. he treats them like shit. babel gets overlooked by both ngog and el zhar in the space of a week. no wonder he comes on sometimes and doesnt give a shit its not just his decisions in certain games that cost us points in those games. its decisions through the course of the season that undermine players confidence

im one of his biggest critics but i thought he was decent last night. much more aggesive than usual. but then spearing came on and did as well if not better in 15 minutes although the game was pretty much over by then and psv are shit anyway. theres not many premier league sides worse than them but credit where its due it was probably his best performance in red

as long as rafa is at the club babel wont be a success. in the last few weeks he's looked like he doesnt give a shit but can you blame him really? even if he plays well he still gets overlooked. wheres the incentive for him to play well? i think rafa doesnt bother with man management - look at his treatment of keane. and babel clearly needs someone to tell him how good he is like harry redknapp would. he could be a revelation

what do yis think now by the way?
