  1. Whats the point in having a wall if you are going to hide behind it? He should have stood a couple of yards to his left. This way he would have: 1) covered the area of the goal left exposed by the wall 2) been able to react a lot quicker as he would have seen where the ball was heading right away 3) been able to save it unless unless it was very well struck (wich it wasnt)
  2. Kirkland was deffo at fault for the goal. He stood behind the wall, and didnt see the ball. If you watch the replay you can see he doesn't move until the ball is a few yards from the goal. Solano could have put it anywhere and it would have gone in as long as it wasnt straight at him or too weak. I bet he would have scored even if he had just side footed it into the far corner. But thats probably down to lack of experience on Kirkys part, not lack of ability. I hope so anyway.
  3. Just an observation at the end of the thread. I find Mourinho quite amusing. He is a real character. I'm lucky i think to see the funny side of him, its a lot less stressful than being annoyed. Not that one can choose, obviously.
  4. I dont have some kodek required to run these clips (i get sound only), anybody care to enlighten me (i used windows media player).
  5. Funny. Anybody know who the player in question is?
  6. Didnt Nunez say he could play up front recently? Maybe him and Pongo, with Potter on the right, and Partridge left.
  7. Wiley had a very good game i would say. The game was fluent and great to watch, he also had the players respect, and none of them seemed to bitch and moan for hours on end like they often do. He missed the penalty, but so did I, I didnt really see Toure catching Gerrards knee before Rush mentioned it at half time when watching the replays. Vieira might have gotten a second yellow also. But the ref doesnt have to make the right call every single time to have a good game, the two points i mentioned first in this post are a lot more important.
  8. Where does these two assumtions come from: 1. Man City would readily offload Anelka (and probably be relegated doing so, and they know it) 2. Anelka, considered one of the best strikers in the league, would come for some bargain price like 6 m? Maybe Keegan made a press release recently saying these things and i just havent heard about it, but it doesnt make much sense. I know city have some huge debts, but 6 m would not remedy the economic catastrophy that is relegation.
  9. Traore har improved greatly, i agree, but i cant see him as our long term LB. I dont think he has enough to offer going forward, and after all he is really more suited for CB. Other much improved players are Finnan and Carragher. I used to think Carragher was a great fullback, but didnt have the understading and tactical nouse to play in the center, but he's proved me terribly wrong so far. Long may it continue,
  10. I'm not saying Rafa was right to pick Diao, but i see his point (what i think is his point anyway). Both Hamann and Alonso like to sit deep and direct the play, and for this match we couldnt expect to have a lot of the ball, so Diao was put in to make som tackles and try and win the midfield battle.
  11. Isn't that a bit harsh judging on todays game. He has his limitations, but i thought he worked hard and was just about the only player in our midfield willing to put his foot in. Too bad he can't pass.
  12. I agree with other posters here that we got the best man for LFC. I also agree that Mourinho is arrogant and at times takes himself way to seriously, but i can't bring myself to dislike him nonetheless. I both find him quite amusing and have a lot of respect for him. He (obviously) knows his football, he isnt afraid of standing out from the crowd, and he doesn't give a toss what others think (in particular the british media, you gotta love the way he treats them).
  13. I agree, Collina was dire. So were a lot of our players. In my opinion we should allow boths players and refs a bad day at the office every now and then (painful as it might be).
