  1. That sounds like Neville Chamberlain's peace in our time speech
  2. I think that will happen too but I think that we will also be owned by an oligarch or an Arabian royal family within the next few years. Then it will just be a case of who invests their crazy wealth the best and has the best manager etc.
  3. Agree with United being a massive pull, but I reckon we are at least equal to them in terms of pull. I base that in terms of the Kop being arguably the most famous stand in world football.
  4. We really need to look at expanding the centenary stand as it will look shocking being so badly dwarfed by the main stand. I also feel that they need to increase the Kop's capacity. Long term, we really need to be playing in a stadium of 75 thousand plus week in week out and the owners have to view this as the first step towards that.
  5. I deserve to be whipped naked by a bunch of phil Neville looking Manc stags in the middle of concert square for forgetting about kenny. Apologies to all for my disgraceful forgetfulness and for the horrific image of a gang of phil nevilles on the lash in liverpool.
  6. Stevie would be a terrible manager imo. Not sure about Carra. Great players rarely make good managers. Feck all of our great players have done anything in management, as have United's. I'd like him to have a coaching role here.
  7. We need more South Americans from what I can see. Lots of great european players but Latin players have an attitude that just can't be matched. Whether it's luis, Costa, aguero or Zabaleta, nearly all the Latin players play like they're literally fighting for their lives. A few ace Spanish and Germans would be nice too :)
  8. Lots of very good players in recent times, but a lot of the older fans like me can't understand the hero worship and reverence shown towards our very good modern players. For me, only hyppia, Suarez, Stevie and Torres in his pomp would have a chance of getting in our great teams of the past. Xabi would be another possibly and the likes of Mascherano and maybe 2-3 others would be on the bench. Don't get me wrong I love carra for example, but lawro and jocky would have him for brekkie.
  9. I've major questions of Brendan right now, but it pisses me off how a lot of people are coming out of the woodwork right now to have a pop. We had 18 months of terrific football (the second half of his first season we were very good). We are in free fall right now. It happens with great teams and very good teams - Dortmund this year is an example. We were a good team with two world class strikers last season, now we're as bad defensively, more bereft in midfield with an overdependence on a 34 year old and toothless up front. Brendan will show good he is by how he turns this around in the coming months. He deserves that chance. For what it's worth, I think Can, Moreno and Manquillo will become very good players. Lallana is a 15 million pound player and we badly overpaid but he's clearly a good player. Markovic looks disgracefully bad, but he's a young fella. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. The real glaring problem of his signings is lovren. The guy is a fucking mess. Within two or three games, I wanted him out of the team. At least with Sakho, I can see genuine qualities there. Brendan needs to throw his hands up and accept he fucked up with this one. If he doesn't, then he has only himself to blame. Btw if he does get the boot which I don't want right now, we should move hell and earth for Klopp.
  10. Probably not that unpopular but Brendan needs to bin Stevie. I love the bloke but he's doing more harm than good right now. How the fuck a proper young player like can cannot get in our team I will never know. My concern is that brendan is too matey with Stevie and is afraid to do the necessary. The great managers of yesteryear were able to take sentimentality out of the equation and make the hard call. This isn't even a hard call now. Mignolet, moreno, sakho, toure, manquillo (flanno when back), can, Henderson, Allen, coutinho, sterling, borini would be my preferred starting line up for the season, or at least until January. Obviously, Sturridge but I can see him out for the season. Hardly Liverpool 84' but a little bit more solid at the back, with can's steel in midfield and borini (average I know) at least being somewhat mobile.
  11. I'm very hopeful that Moreno, Manquillo and especially will become very good players for us. I can see talent in all three. If they were playing in steadier teams, they would look far better. The main problem is that our defence being led by a 20 mil signing is as shit as it was last season, while we are missing the world class strikeforce of last season. In midfield, Stevie is totally past it, while Henderson has been shite this year. Coutinho and sterling keep looking for balls to play and mario is either a mile offside or a mile out of the fucking box. Lambert looks and plays like he could be playing for the Blob Shop in the Liverpool and District Pub League. Berahino is a good player who could become top class. The problem is we have signed plenty of "could" players this summer, we need proven top quality. We are fucking liverpool and if we throw good wages at those type of players, I don't buy for an instant, that we couldn't sign the very best.
  12. I'm scouse Senor Jairzinho ;) England is nothing but a nuisance for me. I like Ireland and Scotland though. England don't have any world class player either, but growing up I always remember there being plenty of great Scottish and Irish players.
  13. No disrespect to Ireland and Scotland, but my thought during the game was that there wasn't one world class player on the pitch (Coleman is a terrific player but not world class). If that game had been played a few years ago, you would have been counting two hands of really world class talent. Sobering for the two nations.
  14. Think I read that he's a liverpool fan somewhere. I'd be very happy with him or Cabaye to be honest. Both class players.
  15. Jesus we're not that bad. Time forwards to the final game of the season. Liverpool led by their captain Dejan lovren trail Stoke by two goals. Nothing less than a win and we are down. Coutinho hits two beauties and its 2-2. It's the final minute..the corner is headed out to balotelli who mishits his shot to Dejan lovren who is free in the box.......
  16. Illori needs to be brought back from his loan. I think he might be injured for the next while but even if we could bring him in for the second half of the season in preparation for next year I'd be happy. At least, he'd get game time here. I watched him a bit last season in La Liga and really liked what I saw. The lad can be top class. I could take the errors if I knew the player was going to get better. For example, I think Moreno can become top class, even if I think he will make a few more errors this season. Can is in the same boat too. Meanwhile, a fella like lovren will only get worse. With mig, I see real talent, but I also see real flaws. My gut feeling is that he is your classic match of the day keeper, who you get to admire his shotstopping from afar, but when he is your goalie, you can see his flaws. He's not helped by having such a shambolic defence in front of him, but the really top keepers or even decent ones can still stand out e.g Shay Given was a very good keeper in some terrible Newcastle defences. My line up at the back for next season; New goalie (possibly begovic but there are probably even better keepers on the continent) Rb: flanno cb: illori cb: new centre half lb: Moreno
  17. Brendan is a good manager. I would give him another season. Its easy to say that last season was just down to our two strikers. It wasn't - Henderson, coutinho, sterling and Gerrard played a massive part in our successes. Our defence was equally shit last season so that balances out. After a tough first few months, Brendan finished his first season very strongly. I don't think he's a one season wonder and if he does get the boot here, my view that he is a manager of great potential won't change. He tried to sign Sanchez this summer. We don't know who else he tried to sign that would have slotted in seamlessly. We might be Liverpool fc but in the modern world we lag behind the likes of city, Chelsea and PSG, let alone the barca and reals of this world. That isn't the fault of Brendan. However, that doesn't mean that I don't have very serious questions of him. Balotelli is fucking clueless and how Brendan thinks he can play on his own upfront is frankly daft. He's totally impacting on the inconsistent performances of sterling, coutinho and lallana. They're looking for runs and Mario is either miles from the box or miles offside. Stevie is probably the first name on the team sheet but Brendan needs to grow a pair and give hendo, Allen and especially the very talented can the space to grow in midfield. They aren't exactly players of the calibre of souey or Whelan, but that isn't to say that they can't be very good players for us. Stevie needs to be fucked off to the bench for the long term good of the club. The next issue is lovren. How the hell does Brendan think he is worth sticking with I will never know. Face the gallery Brendan and accept you fucked up with big dejan...stick kolo back in and we might get top 4...not because kolo is marvellous but because the other teams bar Chelsea and Southampton are shocking. That is what annoys me the most. We could be about ten points ahead of the likes of arsenal and united if we were even 70% of what we were last season.
  18. To think I actually felt sorry for Southampton a few months ago losing their best players.we got sold a kia with a fucking lada engine with this useless knobhead on southampton way, they must be having a right fucking chuckle. I knew he was bad news when Spurs were looking to buy him. Spurs do fancy wingers and the occasional decent striker, they don't do centre halves.
  19. Brendan will get it right. I rate him highly but I think things could get a lot worse before they get better. Was out with a Portuguese mate last night who said Lazar is fucking class and will be a great player for us. He's actually a Sporting Lisbon fan so has no reason to like him. He's also a bloke who knows his shit when it comes to players. He told me about Ronaldo when he was about 15 or 16. the thing is the general standard of the league is piss poor so it shouldn't take too much to get us winning the bread and butter games. However, I genuinely think we're 2-3 seasons away from being anywhere near challenging City or Chelsea, which is depressing after last season.
  20. Sell as much as we can. Southampton have shown that you can buy very good players for relatively small amounts of money. There's very talented players on the continent who wouldn't cost crazy money but would make a sizeable difference. The thing is that by January we could be out of the top 4 race. We can use the second half of the season to blood players - a bit like Brendan's first season when we had coutinho and Sturridge signed in January. It might also be a good time to give lads like Rossiter their chance of first team football. I hate to say it, but right now my main concern would be us getting in decent shape for next season. I feel defeatist but this season feels like a write off. Of course, maybe when Sturridge comes back, we might have a chance of top 4, but I just don't see it right now.
  21. I like him even if he cost us badly yesterday and against City. The thing is with him and manquillo you can see real talent there. With the likes of lovren, he is as good as he will ever get here. Far bigger issues than alberto imo. When Flanno comes back, we could consider putting him in midfield. A decent goalie, two commanding centre halves that do the basics first and foremost, an out and out striker and a defensive midfielder have to be bought in January. Our centre halves or lack of them are clearly the main issue. Lovren is absolute dogshit and he won't get better. It has gotten to the stage where he isn't even doing the things he was supposedly renowned for. I like skrtel as a bloke, but he's a very average player - an ale house defender who is much better when he has fellas like Carra around him directing him. In the short term, it's kolo and Sakho for me, in the long term, it's illori and another. We are not the City team of 2-3 years ago that had enough talent in abundance to babysit Mario so that he was indulged enough to be brilliant at times. I'd far rather borini who will run his socks off and get in the box...hardly Rushy or Kenny re-incarnated but at least then we have 11 players in the pitch rather than 10 and Mario swanning around. The scouts need to be breaking their arses to get a poacher for January, as we can't rely on Danny not being out for another 2-3 months in the new year. Mig is a good lad and a mid-table level keeper. The problem here is that he is being judged against what should be liverpool class and is failing badly. He's not helped by what's in front of him, but then again it's pretty obvious that he just isn't good enough. With a top goalie, we would be about 6 points better off than we are. The elephant in the room is that Stevie isn't good enough anymore. I'm not going to criticise him because he is the heartbeat of the club, but he should be no more than an impact player for 25-30 minutes. We need to see if we can develop the Allen, Henderson and Can axis and stick with it, at least until the end of the season. I see real raw talent in Can and even though he's very raw, he could be a top player I think. Further upfield, we need to keep Sterling centrally and give Coutinho the space to grow into the world class player he can be. Brendan needs to give him space rather than the chopping and changing for every game. I'd like Lallana as a top level impact sub rather than a starter in most games. Hardly inspiring from a 25 mil player, but I'm sorry but even though I like Lallana he hasn't got it in his locker to be as good as Coutinho.
  22. Fucking Newcastle...had a 20 team accumulator with city to win, all other 19 teams won and of course the barcodes have to go on their yearly 5 game run of impersonating Real Madrid in 1957. I want Geordie blood Brendan. Deliver it to me or face my wrath.
  23. Before the start of the season I'd have been delighted with them as third choice strikers here. Now I'd give anything to have them starting here.
  24. But it's a cultural term innit Rio from South London not like dirty foreigners using horrible words like negrito. Fucking whopper is our Rio.
  25. Lovren will move to a mid table bundesliga team in January 2016 after a horror spell here. He will be decent for a number of years before being outstanding for Croatia in wc 2018. He will then move to Juventus. My mind can't see further than July 2018. You heard it here first.
