  1. no idea at all what ZC was on about bringing hillsborough into this. completely bizarre exchanges between him & mr ross - glad to see you're back on form again tom after your poor run in that racism debate. there does seem to be just a hint of xenophobia in peoples' assumptions (voiced several times on here in the past) about the dodginess of thai money. understand this o people - this one's a different bid. no government money. no human rights issues (well no more than your average plutocrat racks up in the course of gaining his millions). no fuckin problem. now show us the money & let's set about getting that vicente fella.
  2. well Ian seems to understand what you're on about Stu, but not sure I do. "I presume we will be looking into any case where the adjective in you **** wanker is a nation too, because how do we know the word wasn't a racist slur?" ??? "And we also have to take into consideration that the man guiding the world game has a reputation for clarity of purpose and great vision when wondering if this will happen. Knee jerk's all round i expect." again, ??? not having a go, but I'm not getting it either. please explain.
  3. wow this is a whole other reason to fucking hate fucking real fucking madrid. not content with being arrogant, corrupt and mercenary - now it turns out that their fans are a bunch of nazis. real madrid cf - the best club in the world TM.
  4. agree with that tom. all this little england, a local club for local people bollocks pisses me off. fair enough the club might be uncomforable with using state funds, but media moguls with too much money are fine by me wherever they're from. bollocks to morgan though.
  5. I'll shut up now, I'm boring myself. time to go home.
  6. it really isn't racist for one black person to call another a 'nigger'. it's not. some people might find it offensive, and like someone said there is an ongoing debate in the black community about this. but again as someone said I don't think we as white people can lecture black people on how they choose to respond to the racism they experience on a day-to-day basis - if people want to reclaim a word that has been used to put them down for centuries, good for them. and by the way, for so many reasons, a white person using the word 'nigger' is different to a black person talking about 'honkeys'. mclintock may not be a racist - we don't know - but he is stupid & insensitive to use words like that so flippantly. here ends the gospel.
  7. well I've read the book, and I can understand the point he was clumsily trying to make. there wasn't malice in the comment, and I don't think anyone's suggesting he should be taken away and shot for it. can't you see though that it's a little inappropriate though for a white broadcaster to be using words like 'nigger' on television, regardless of whether it's the title of a bloody agatha christie novel. no it wasn't as bad as atkinson's comment, and he shouldn't lose his job over it, although I do think an apology for insensitive & inappropriate use of language wouldn't go amiss. to get this in perspective - something lost on you it seems mr hermes - it's not the end of the world, no-one here's claiming it is, but whatever people say to excuse it, very very rarely is it remotely ok for a white man to use the word nigger. maybe in the context of a discussion like we're having here about language & race, but not in something like a fucking football commentary. if you can't see that you're a bigger idiot than you sound.
  8. and hermes, you've got kind of an irritating smug way of expressing yourself sometimes haven't you?
  9. Paul, UTM - well in. tom you usually make sense, are you having a funny turn today or something? do you really not get what paul's saying. seriously, think about it. black people can call each other what they like, white people can't use the same words. for all the reasons paul says. f.a.c.t.
  10. isn't he married to the bird off emmerdale? always looks a bit retarded to me. but then each to their own.
  11. anyone know how welsh is doing for form & fitness? I've still never seen the lad play, but I'm hoping to at some point tonight.
  12. well said, he gets a lot of richly deserved stick on here, but I'd fuckin love him to sort it out, whatever's up with him, and show us what we saw the beginning of last season. there's a lot of reasons why people don't perform well in their jobs, especially when you're trying to get to the level harry's achieved in the past - the kind of simplistic oh-he's-just-a-lazy-arrogant-cunt theory I suspect falls somewhat short of reality. there's probably a few things going on with him, and it looks like rafa's making a proper attempt to sort him out. that said, after a year under benitez if he still can't or wont produce the goods, then obviously it's time to get rid.
  13. well sort of - in a weird kind of a way it might be interesting to see what rafa could do with him. considering how threadbare we are, how technically good cheyrou looked in tiny little flashes (thinking of chelsea here tbh) & his reputation which can't have come from nowhere...never thought I'd be saying this, but why not have him back in january for one last go, & see if he can respond like the man igor. if so, he could plug a hole & we might get more of a fee if he's played a few games before we move him on in the summer. he is you'd think the kind of player rafa could use better than GH - for some reason I can't quite understand I'm fully expecting smicer to do a job for us under benitez, so in a bizarre parallel universe why not cheyrou? *ducks*
  14. have you boys been playing a little too much champ manager by any chance? anyway cavenaghi's more like the finished article. we should totally sign serge makofo however, 9/10 every game, the lad's a legend. well he is on my laptop like.

    Nuñez

has anyone actually seen the lad play? I'm starting to get really curious.
  16. agree with that paul - he looked efficient but it was hard to make a proper judgement because he didn't have much to do. igor was the star for me, and it was nice to see djimi dishing it out to a few of their players, can't think of a time I've seen him so aggressive. makes me like him a lot more for some reason.

did I hear someone being disparaging about mullets? damn canadians.
  18. all very interesting, but what worries me is what that fella is doing behind carra in the photo. looks like he's lining himself up for a cheeky feel of jamie's arse.
  19. well in rich. I fucking hate that weird text message language. I think there's going to be a whole generation of people soon who don't know what words are. fuck me aren't I the grumpy awl fella.
  20. Little bit pessimistic there.
  21. http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/mediawatch/drilldown/MW6483040803-1121.htm I know there's been a few people giving him stick, but I honestly do believe that we're going to start seeing the best of kewell this season. I still remember how excited we were when we signed him, and if this interview is to be believed, maybe his attitude isn't so bad as it seemed last season - after all carrying an injury & playing out of position in a poor team can't be good for your form. now how about wide right rafa. how much would quaresma go for I wonder - saw him once and he looked class.
