  1. I'd go with: Pepe Johnson Carra Agger Insua Masch Gerrard Maxi Yossi Babel Torres Lots of players capable of creating and scoring goals. They can all also switch positions. Got to go for it
  2. Never been as excited about a Liverpool signing as I was when we bought Clough. Was convinced he would be the closest we'd get to Dalglish
  3. In a side that often seems to lack heart, people seem to want to sell the person who shows the most fight in our side (with the possible exception of Carra). This obsession with not having two defensive midfielders have led some to come to the conclusion that we get rid of possibly the best defensive midfielder in the world. Tim Vickery's comments on him: "Within months he was playing for Argentina at senior level before he had even made his River Plate debut, and by the following year he was anchoring the midfield as if he'd done it all his life, dominating the space, winning the tackles and giving quick, crisp passes." Lucas is a decent player but at this stage he should not be first choice. Given that Aquilani doesn't look like a man who is going to be making many tackles, we need Mascherano alongisde him. Imo those who are advocating his sale are massively short sighted and are obsessed with this idea that all of your midfielders must have an attacking threat which is bollocks
  4. Any news on his injury? If Johnson is out for some time, I would rather see Kelly step in than either Degen come in or for Carra to be moved out to the right. I like Darby but Kelly seems to be ahead in Rafa's thoughts. Think Carra and Agger need to be given a run of games together to try and get a solid base.
  5. Why, thank you! Myself and Gerrard are very much on the same wavelength
  6. Was thinking exactly the same. Wouldn't normally advocate 3 at the back but may be necessary today. I would change it slightly though to look like: Pepe Skrtel Carra Agger Johnson Mascherano Lucas Aurelio Yossi Babel Dirk
  7. Went to see him and his band on Wed night and they were immense. One of thes best shows I have ever seen. That guy is a musical genius and anyone who disagrees is a humungous tool! This from a man who only owns one Beach Boys album.
  8. Bert

    Amazed

Same age as Frank Lampard by the way
  9. at how quick some people are to write off Carra. Don't mind people making valid criticisms (I agree that he hasn't had a great start to the season) but comments that I've read this morning about how he is "past it" and other such phrases seem crazy to me. For the last year or so, people have been starting to suggest Skrtel/Agger as 1st choice centre half partnership. Think once Carra does come out of the team, people will realise how important he is to us. The guy is a leader, in the true sense of the word and organises everyone around him. Who is going to do that when he has gone? He has risen to every challenge that has been thrown at him since he broke into the first team and see no reason that he won't do the same again here. The guy is 31 and "past it" - bollocks I say.
  10. Fucking gingers!! (joke.......sort of)
  11. Thinking about it as well, I remember hearing that McCarthy was playing for Irelands at youth level because of family history - shithouse!! Guess that won't bother anyone else!
  12. As a Scotland fan tired of watching people as untalented as Gary Teale playing for Scotland, I was just wondering last night who was coming through and thought of Gary Mackay Steven in our youth team. What is this lad like. Do those who see him regularly think he has the talent to make it? Also what happened to that ginger lad who we tried to get from Hamilton Academicals (Jamie McCarthy I think)? Think Barca were also linked with him at one point - anyone know what has happened to him. Is he still at Hamilton? Liverpool have always been at our best with some Scottish players in the side!
  13. Agreed, and I actually think the albums have got progressively worse (2nd and 1st are both brilliant but think I actually prefer the first)
  14. U2 comment comes from the fact that when they started they were a raw rock and blues outfit who played some great tunes. Listen to that first album and it is brilliant. As the albums have gone on, they have become, in my opinion, more produced and they seem to be trying to create "anthems" and moved towards U2 style stadium rock tunes rather than Stones style blues based stuff. Thats why I much prefer their earlier work (although I am a big fan of Sex on Fire and Crawl - just dont like most of the new album). Its nothing to do with not liking them now they've become popular as some said. I still love the band and went to watch them the other night as a fan. I just believe this so-called progression and more mature sound that I keep hearing about from the likes of Zane Lowe, is actually them moving away from the music that I loved towards what at times is fairly dull.
  15. I'm going Monday night, more in hope than expectation. Used to love them but they've gone a bit too U2/stadium rock for my liking. They should spend more time listening to the Faces who are immense
  16. Anyone know if it is likely to be shown anywhere in Liverpool at the weekend? Guessin not because even if it in the foreign tv channels, most bars will be shwoing Everton but just thought I'd see if anyone knows anywhere it might be shown?
  17. 1) Skrtel 2) Pepe 3) Aurelio Surprised Skrtel hasn't had a mention before me - thought he was about the only one at times who looked up for the scrap. Oh, and I'm sorry, Dirk may have scored but just cannot understand how he can be in anyone's top 3. He was abysmal tonight.
  18. Blackpool fan in the observer named Hammill as one of their two best players yesterday. Guess you would hope that he would be but still good to hear
  19. Yeah they should have just started the music and then let us sing it. Tom Finney there as well - now he is a PROPER legend
  20. Just got back from this at the Olympia. Really good other than some twat who came on at the end trying to do Whitney Houston style vocal aerobics to YNWA at the end. Love the clip when Tony Wilson is in the street telling people that Shanks has resigned. The distress in their faces tells you everything you need to know about how important he was to people. Oh, and as a side issue it would be great if the Kop started singing "She Loves You" again and I say that as someone who doesnt particularly like the song
  21. Anyone know where I can get one? Going to see my best mate next week who is an Arsenal fan
  22. Or 10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife
  23. Probably the funniest football clip ever (other than any with John Terry crying). Just gets better every time I see it
  24. Immediate aftermath of Athens was the only moment for me. Watched the game in the Slaughterhouse on Fenwick St and bout an hour before kick off these scally twats came in singing Munich songs. I told them to knock it off and got a shit load of abuse not just from them but from some others in there. Knew I was taking a risk cos I'm not from the area (tho have now lived here for 9 years) but couldn't believe that no one other than my mates were prepared to stand up to a bunch of little gobshites like that. Its always disappointed me that there isn't more self-policing goes on like it does with say the Scotland fans. Couldn't enjoy anything about the game after that and then walked through town after to watch a load of people trying to bring down railings on Church St. For a few days after, esp when reading about some of the stuff that had gone on in Athens (some our fans fault, much of it not), I just fell out of love with it a bit. Bit melodramatic I know, but cant think of a better phrase. Anyway, I'm back now - tonight is going to be special!
  25. I want Utd-Chelsea. Get at least one of them fuckers out
