No doubting the guy was a cracking player and Im sorryto see him go but lets remember 3 things: 1. We have got over 30m for him (20m profit) 2. He wanted to go 3. He was average for 3 of the 5 seasons he was with us. Class in his first and last seasons. Dont get me wrong I wanted him to stay but life goes on and in no way am as gutted as some people are about his departure.

It's an interesting thread this. Macca was my first idol when he broke on the scene in 1991. I was 14 at the time and to see a young scouse lad tearing defences apart with his amazing dribbling abiliity was such a joy to watch. Especially cause we were so shite under the Souness era. He stook out like a sore thumb. He was by far and away our best player for the next 6 or 7 years and undoubtedbly one of the best players in europe at that time. He did carry the team. he had won fuck all. He did cost us nothing. He was unliklely to win anything major in the next few years at anfield. The fact that the club agreed a deal with barca didnt help. When Real come calling it is hard to turn it down. We were not playing champions league nor were we contending for the title. Also add in the fact that his mom had just died and he wanted to get away from it all. I cant blame him for leaving on a free when u take all the above into consideration. he was proved right after winning what he did at Madrid. In my eyes hes a true legend. Owen is different. Like Macca he didnt cost a penny and like Macca he also carried the team for a few years. While I can see the reasons why he left for Madird back in '04 I can never forgive or understand why he turned us down over Newcastle (of all clubs). He chose England over LFC. He turned his back on us. I will never boo the guy and would never say anything bad about him as he was a legend during the years he was here. But there is a major difference between the 2 stories.....

yeah i know what u mean. i love a conspiracy theory me so im a sucker for this shit. i always was aware of the 2012 stuff but the closer it gets the more crap about it there is on the interweb. was watching a programme on the history channel a couple of weeks ago that was banging on about it for 2 hours. had the usual americans bigging it up and the europeans basically saying its a crock of shit.
