  1. My word, I know all politicians are slippery fuckers (and I know this thread has said it a gazillion times) but what has politics come to? Just watching a bit of Sunday Politics and there's some LD twat called Mark who was asked simply if he could see the Lib Dems working again with The Conservatives, his reply? "I don't have a view" WTF?
  2. SD is stubbornly going down with the ship, that's all there is to it.
  3. It's 20 minutes uninterrupted per 6 hours, but not paid, unless it's in your contract.
  4. Just on the break thing I don't understand why they were considered pioneers, as unless it's written in your contract your employer doesn't have to pay you for a break. I know this because I've had it out with an employer, believe it or not an employer considered socialist, a cooperative.
  5. I don't think there's any chance whatsoever we'd get Klopp, I believe his next club is already lined up.
  6. I think that's more of a reflection on the two incumbents than it is their possible replacements. I'd be rather worried about Rodgers replacement if we decide to part ways with him.
  7. Brownie, I think you might be one of those LFC supporters who needs to get real! The next 10 years will be harder than the last 10 if the climate doesn't change, certainly in terms of challenging for the title and qualifying for the CL.
  8. I don't even this this non-real offer is realistic in the current climate, in the current climate it's probably overachieving. But as the question wasn't framed as "in the current climate" I'd much rather unrealistically hope that something drastic happens and we're top dogs again than unrealistically hope that we can overachieve over the course of 10 years and still not be guaranteed a trophy.
  9. I get that viewpoint. But can't bring myself to go along with it, instead desperately hoping that the landscape changes.
  10. No chance. Whilst I can take individual seasons (perhaps even 2 or 3 years ahead) and judge them on their own merits in their circumstances, I am not prepared to write off 10 whole seasons as what amounts to "also rans". I live in hope that something will happen which will make us one of the top dogs again.
  11. This season has been a failure, expectations have not been met, but I'm not about to call for the manager's head with every season that targets are missed. Expectations would not change next year, he just couldn't afford another failure.
  12. Lallana can fuck off if we can get back anywhere near £15m for him, shocking signing and I can't stand to look at his stupid face, shit run, and lightweight shoulders any longer.
  13. You don't think Rodgers will learn from that kind of thing, realise he needs to do things differently if we qualify again? And as for this current LFC that you're describing, either in terms of lack of ambition or perhaps lack of direction, can you really blame Sterling (et al) for considering his options?
  14. It's selective as you've selected, as bad examples, the players Rodgers is most widely reported to have signed off his own back, when actually every single player signed in the last 24 months has been so average that there's no point in differentiating between them.
  15. On top of that every time we sack a manager prematurely we become less attractive to his prospective replacement, so ironically the probability of replacing him with someone of a higher quality lessens with each turn.
  16. We don't know that, not at all. Besides which your list is very selective as there's not a single player signed in the last 24 months that's been a resounding success. I'm not for one minute suggesting Rodgers will make a good job of this summer's signings, though one would hope his experiences will stand him in good stead, however at least those above him will know it's all his own work and there will be no more excuses.
  17. I don't know if Rodgers "deserves" another season but I would allow him one. Let him work a full summer with the current crop of new signings, let him make his own choices this summer, and see if he's learnt from this awful season. Then we'll wait and see where we are this time next year. We're chopping and changing managers at an alarming rate at the moment and I fear that unless we give one a real chance, in the context of the competitiveness of the PL and our relative lack of spending power, we're going to be repeatedly ripping up and starting again in the time it takes an international tournament to come round.
  18. I don't know what the general consensus is but to my mind there's no way Klopp is coming here. I don't believe he doesn't have another job lined up already and I don't believe LFC have made a decision on Rodgers future, so those two things add up to Klopp going elsewhere, probably Man City. edit - didn't mean to quote you Cardie, stupid phone.
  19. It truly has been a shit season all round.
  20. Oh and did anyone actually watch episode 1 on Sky? Just wondering if anyone thought that most characters had deeper/slower voices, particularly noticeable with the females? Not sure if it's intentional, perhaps the tone of the series? Or perhaps my batteries in the TV starting to run out.
  21. Not sure exactly what you're asking, but if you want to roughly catch up on the books to the TV whilst avoiding spoilers then you're probably safe to read up to the end of volume three, A Storm of Swords (both books). As far as I recall there's only two things in there not yet shown on TV, one of which I expect to happen in the next couple of episodes and the other I don't expect to happen at all.
  22. Fucking hell it's embarrassing reading that. Not to put anyone or their job down but how can they call working in Costa an apprenticeship? I know times have changed but an apprentice should be learning a specific skill, or a trade. Some apologists for the government may try and argue that making a cup of coffee is a skill or trade, but it's no more so than scanning through food and offering to help the customer pack their bags , or cleaning dishes, or working in a bar and so on. It's a crying shame.
  23. Riding roughshod over international law to piss off a few hundred rich people, really? Or bringing the UK in line with most other developed countries in order to remove special treatment of (and raise more tax from) over 100,000 rich people?
  24. How do you build though with that attitude? What if the club can afford but chooses not to pay a fair wage? How long can we go on like that for and do we just accept it, accept our future as a selling club?
  25. There does appear to be a theme emerging, still some people will continue to point the finger at one particular player for no particular reason.
