Allen hoping for more advanced role

Joe Allen says he hopes to add goals and creativity to his game as he nears a return to full fitness.

Speaking to the club's official website, the 23 year old said: "I can get involved more in the creative side, in assisting goals. That's a big thing”

Allen spent the majority of his first season at the club playing in a deeper role, but caught the eye in pre-season playing further forward and is hoping for an opportunity to build on that as he prepares for a return to action following a hamstring injury picked up against Notts County in August. "If I have the chance to play further forward, like I did in pre-season, goals are obviously another big one that I'd like to add a bit more to my game” he said.

"It's something I felt was coming at Swansea, and last season sort of stopped a little bit. That's something I think I can offer looking forward.

"I pride myself on that fact that I can play a couple of different roles, but that's a role I have played more naturally and played the most throughout my career."

My advice to Allen:

Less talking off the pitch, more talking on it.

Hard to talk on the pitch when injured. Got asked questions and answered them.

If Allen would have told the interviewer " I'm not answering that, I'll do my talking on the pitch" he'd have looked a right prick.

"I'm better than that shit cunt Henderson, that's for sure", was apparently his off the record remark.

He needs to play in a central three to be most effective. At best he has shown that he play well when we already have control of the game.

There isnt any room for him in the team at the moment and especially when Coutinho is back.Unsure where he fits in.
