We’d have to put up with the City celebrations for a day or two. The Arse celebrations would carry on for years.

Despite the missed chances and the regular concession of the first goal, we were actually doing fine until the midfield finally ran itself into the ground and the returning injured players struggled for form and fitness. I think the biggest factor in our collapse was the injuries catching up with us.

Fair enough. Lack of real pace will always hold him back but I think he’s skillful enough and he’ll naturally get stronger as he gets a few years older. I’d like us to keep him around to see how he develops.

Fingers crossed. My worry is that the creditors already realise they’re only getting a fraction of their money back so the administrators and some stupid but rich new owners who think they’re smart (as per Chelsea) will cook up a favourable deal to wipe the slate clean. Maybe they won’t own the stadium but the stadium has next to zero value without a tenant so the stadium owner doesn’t have much leverage so long as staying at Goodison remains a possibility. West Ham pay next to nothing for their shiny, new stadium.

And they’ll probably come out of administration smelling of roses unfortunately. With new owners, no debt and a new stadium.

How can anyone justify that first pen when the Macca one wasn’t given?
