I think we all agree our squad is looking excellent at the moment, as strong in terms of our first 18 as it's been in ages. No more Degens or El Zhars when we're 2-0 down in Middlesborough. Who should we thank? Rafa, Kenny, Mr. Henry or the youth developers? I think we shouldn't overlook Rafa in this. After all, he bought Agger, Reina, Skrtel, Johnson, Lucas, Maxi, Kuyt, and effectively Suarez and Carroll with his calculated gamble on Torres and hence £30m of profit. -

I was going to post this in the "MOTM" thread, but thought it better not to take away from the thread, so... What is it I'm not getting with regards to Maxi? I didnt even know he was on the field on Sunday until the 22nd minute. He is missing for the majority of any game he plays, yes he might pop up now and again and do something useful, but generally, I just dont seem to be seeing what those who sing his praises are seeing. Goes missing, doesnt really do anything in my view worth talking about, has the odd decent shot when there is a blue in the months moon, and has scored how many goals??? As I say, its just me not seeing what others see, but, Maxi is another Garcia, in as much as he didnt do that much, (Champions league goals aside) but the majority saw something more than he was, than I did. Not a dig as such, I just cant for the life of me see what so many rave about, sorry. So please enlighten me.

We have got to put a bit of perspective on things and get some players in who will improve us instead of wating out time in spending the entire transfer window on trying to get a player costing £20million who will eventually fuck us off on 31 January for someone else last minute coz we cannot give them Champions league football. Its madness to watch the likes of Hamill and Charlie Adam go somewhere else. They both would be an improvement to what we have got and getting these 2 for about £8million is not exactly wasted money when the likes of Kuyt would probably be sold for the price of the 2 of them. We are not going to start challenging again overnight so why not just get what we can in January, improve the team and write the season off and concentrate on the £20 million players in the summer.
