  1. Wow. You have a different opinion - leave it at that. Name calling reflects badly on you, not An tha.
  2. Imagine Kenny playing the Firmino role alongside KK and Mo at their best. That would be worth seeing. 200 goals per season? :)
  3. Saw both KK and Kenny at their respective bests. Both great, great players but I always felt in slightly different ways. We have been blessed then and since with some awesome players.
  4. Wow, a Dutchman with six feet. He might be Virgil, Gakpo and Gravenberch all at the same time.
  5. Just been looking at the Crisis plan posted by Gnasher. It states that homelessness is currently around 160,000 and is projected to double to 320,000 by 2041. The plan suggests that the country needs to build 100,000 social housing homes per year for the next 15 years giving a total of 1.5m homes. Anyone understand the logic of why so many would be needed? It doesn't explain it.
  6. Away games against teams in top half of the table: Played 7, Won 1, Draw 4, Lost 2, GD -2 Pts 7. We still have to go to Villa and West Ham. City and Arsenal also have two of these games to play, they have picked up 11pts and 9pts respectively.
  7. Ramadan finishes in the next couple of days so shouldn't be an issue for the rest of the season.
  8. At the start of the season I would be surprised if anyone in this thread would have truly believed that we would be second by goal difference with seven games to go. Or that we would have a kid named Quansah partnering VVD in central defence and another kid playing right back for a vital game at Old Trafford. Please don't let this incident destroy Quansah's career. Remember also that Mo is observing Ramadan, and that, unlike the mid-week game, he wasn't able to break his fast during the game, maybe even unable to take on fluids at half-time. Not sure how it works but it can only have impaired his performance. And we bossed the game. The only thing wrong was that our forwards were firing blanks for most of the game. I can't recall their keeper having to make any worldy saves so it comes back to our own limitations. I hope we do win the league but deep down I know this group are not ready to do it yet. We are being driven by the desire to give Kloppo the send off he deserves. Still, I will keep my fingers crossed because it's football and anything can happen. As someone once said, "It's a funny ol' game".
  9. That is NASTY. I don't like the way Ibou's left leg folds under him. Hope he is OK for the weekend :( Shocking that he got clean away with that. Who is he?
  10. My thoughts on VAR is that it is promoted as a tool to end marginal decisions but the technology is not accurate enough to do that. The fastest players can run at up to 10m/s. Live TV sports, I understand, are filmed at 30 frames per second. (although this is moving towards 60 fps) So, from one frame to the next a player can potentially move up to 33cm. (about a 12" ruler for non-metric readers) The time between each frame is 33 milliseconds (ms). When a player kicks a ball his foot is in contact with it for about 6 ms. So, if a player passing the ball kicks it in the first 6ms of a frame the receiving player may be onside, but if he kicked it in the last 6ms of the frame the receiving player may be offside. This also means that foot of the player making the pass may start contact in one frame and end contact in a different frame - or 33cm later. So which frame are they using? Also consider what happens when the player making the pass and the player receiving the ball are not visible from the same camera. How accurately can they marry up both views? To the specific frame? I honestly don't know. In summary, any decision where the difference is less than 33cm should stick with the on field decision. Even with 60 fps video the uncertainty will still be 16cm.
  11. I think the whole team played well. It is easy to overlook Quansah's performance, they put him under immense pressure and he never put a foot wrong. Other than a rush of blood to the head in the last couple of minutes I thought Gomez was excellent too. Virgil imperious and Bradley solid against a good opponent although did get caught out a few times. The mid three were superb and Mac defo MoM. Brilliant. Luis exceptional, Darwen not involved enough and Mo finished like he was wearing my gardening boots. Fantastic cameo from Harvey. Done. Used up my quota of superlatives for the season in just one post :) The main thing is three points. On we go.
  12. Disappointing but, looking for some positives, it should give us a free mid-week 21st-28th April at a time when we may need it. The other thing is that I can't see us making the same mistake again in the league game.
  13. Also Kung Fu Doku appears to have both feet off the ground at the time of the alleged non-offence which no-one seems bothered by. Surely as "out of control" as you can get? Unless he also has the wings of an angel of course.
