It’s sad and almost pitiful that the majority of fans we come up against in this country sing more about us than they do for their own team. I feel for you having to dive into the shithole that is Twitter and read the responses. Clearly these people have long-held opinions that are never going to be based in fact. On the subject of the booing in Hungary, very surprised to read the negative press about it since the ENGLAND fans booed taking the knee in the Euros!

And I’m not sure he will leave, but we will be looking for his replacement as Diaz is now our favoured left sided option. Don’t know much about Carvalho to say if he is a longer term replacement or not. Maybe we’ll go for a more traditional centre forward? Who knows…

I would think that we’re more looking at a replacement for Bobby as Diaz seems to have come in and secured the left wing spot. As I said earlier in the thread, no one player is bigger than the club and we move on regardless.

If you consider that Salah was brought in the season after I would say it was more that the management and recruitment team were looking for a certain type of player and Mane fit the bill. Salah was perceived to be a failure in his time in the PL at Chelsea but Klopp saw something in him that would fit our structure.

It’s interesting to go back to page one of this thread to see the immediate impression of signing Mane all those years ago. Mostly focuses on how Mane was not worth the £30M we paid for him. Given our success in the transfer market over the last 7 years I would be encouraged that we would be able to fill any gaps in our squad with the right player(s). I also think that Klopp and his team look at potential and fit in their playing methods rather than who is the name of the day. It will be sad to see Mane leave as his arrival really kick-started this whole project but the team is always bigger than the individual and we will go on.

Got quite emotional reading that report Dave. an amazing season and parade but the departure of Sadie feels like a turning point in the inevitable break-up of this fabulous team. Not to say that the next incarnation won’t be as great as this one but this has been our team, one that compares favourably with any other in our history. Raising a toast to the last nine months, in particular your reports that have brought the season to life with insight and humour despite difficult personal circumstances. I’m taking a break from football (no, I am not following the Bitters) so I can look forward to the season to come and writing more records. YNWA…Up the Reds!
