  1. Song about his brother Eds descent and subsequent death from heroin addiction. Its evident how difficult singer Mark Hollis finds it to perform the song. Its still a beautiful record. Talk talk. I believe in you.
  2. It's almost impossible to 'impose stuff' on someone suffering addiction. The drug is their boss. The lack of help available means the police are having to try to fill the gaps left by a rundown care and social service sector. They've got an impossible job. It just becomes a rotating door of locked up, let out. Almost all who leave prison have to abide by restrictions and need to go to a medical center to receive some sort of substitute drug for their addiction, if its heroin its normally Methadon or Subertex. If they don't attend they get their benefits stopped and are in breach of their licence which normally results in a recall to prison. So not a lot else can be 'imposed on them'.
  3. This Easter alone Israel has.. Bombed another country's embassy. Destroyed the largest medical complex in Gaza (anyone old enough to remember their was a debate on whether Israel bombed hospitals?). Bombed a tent containing UN aid workers. Banned all Al Jazzera TV production. Murdered five overseas aid workers.
  4. Australian charity worker murdered last night. Four others, including a Brit and Irish aid worker reported dead This is how Israel celebrated Easter. I remember they boasted they shared our values? Maybe they're right, maybe they do. This war has made us inhumane and immune to human suffering, just like the Zionists in Israel. International laws are no longer worrh the paper they are written on. The Geneva Convention can be dismissed, the Hague and the United Nations laughed at and public outrage simply ignored. Below is the result. Just another innocent face to join the other thousands slain without mercy. The response neatly summed up here. https://x.com/yanisvaroufakis/status/1775024762638725317?s=20
  5. A Brit and an Irish UN worker amongst the five dead. the world would be a better place without this demented old racist in it. World central kitchen whom the UN workers worked for are based in Washington.
  6. More innocents murdered tonight. Five foreign UN workers killed, probably from bombs provided from Biden https://twitter.com/stairwayto3dom/status/1774910958856544758?t=Um3VwAnvWRkiTFwqI3t6Sw&s=19
  7. Such a looverrly bunch of cunts After being flattened then buried by a bulldozer a hand comes up from the mud outside Al Shifa hospital complex.
  8. Both him and his mother, tied up and shot dead. When he says " we will never forgive" I believe him and certainly do not blame him. This is a bad day for our NHS and the worlds medical profession.
  9. No prizes for guessing how this news has gone down with the many Muslim doctors and surgeons in our NHS.
  10. Their are some truly horrific pictures coming from that hospital. Far to graphic to show here, absolutely sickening. Children's bodies, charred, tied and tortured.
  11. I imagine them cabinet meetings are similar to this.
  12. Holiday time in Britain. Pissing down with rain and a driving bust up.
  13. The supporting commission was abolished in around 2009/10. It was a system where the probation helped with funding and accommodation. No suprise the change didn't work for the better. Now it's down to local authorities who are already stretched to the limit. About 3/4 the way down in this article. https://www.justiceinspectorates.gov.uk/hmiprobation/media/press-releases/2020/07/accommodationthematic/ Tommy's right it's differs in different parts of the country and but they sometimes put the prisoner in a catch 22 situation before release. For example they may put it that if they've an address to live then it'll smooth the release. Most people are released on license so they only do half the sentence and that license has to be approved. Obviously most prisoners will be desperate to get out so scramble around for any address they can when throwing the ball back at the authorities may be the better options. In other words call their bluff,. Easy to say when your put here though
  14. Well yeah but you want see the state of some of the houses around there. Yeah i suppose the council argument would be it's that or the streets.
  15. These are what they've put next to the Salvation Army hostel. About half a mile from Cardiff City centre. https://www.cadwyn.co.uk/shipping-container-project/#:~:text=The 13 new homes will,Welsh Government's Innovative Housing Programme.
  16. I take your point on funds. I think the cost of imprisoning one prisoner is approx 4 grand a week. Its an awful lot of money. The problem is governments do not seem to think the savings made on one sector could be used on another. It just gets swallowed up or not given the green light in the first place. I think they're already turning the big containers I think you're talking about into places to stay outside hostels in Cardiff. From what I've been told it's been quite successful thus far.
  17. We are seriously upsetting the wrong people here. Can we send claps? I make no apologies for the pictures in that post.
  18. Yes true. I think a lot of prisoners save some money sent in off family and money earned inside (by whatever means) to add to their release money.
  19. Soul destroying. Another doctor with links to the UK found murdered at the Al Shifa hospital. Along with his mother he's been found murdered. Do they look like Hamas? Is Tim Goodacre of the Royal College of surgeons an Hamas sympathiser? In normal times Parliament would be recalled. Unfortunately Cat Stevens is right. We can no longer consider Israel as anything less than a terrorist state. These crimes against humanity must be accounted for.
  20. Another point is we successfully cleared the streets of homeless people during the pandemic. Probably because the government thought they'd be Covid spreaders if left to roam our high streets and hang around train and bus stations approaching people for spare change. Link on the problems finding the right accommodation when leaving prison. https://www.justiceinspectorates.gov.uk/hmiprobation/media/press-releases/2020/07/accommodationthematic/
  21. I don't think we'd have the resources for the type of scheme I think you are suggesting. Most prison leavers or people on licence/probation have to undergo regular drug tests and if they fail that drug test it can be marked as a 'breach of licence' which could mean a recall to prison.
