It's not a criticism of Lucas but i cast my mind back to the last 30 min against swansea, were top of the league and hanging on for dear life, our midfield was overrun after Courtino got injured. An outlay of 11.5 mil could have meant having Garath Barry and Ericison on the bench, waiting to come on to keep possession and steady the ship. Gives the squad options.

Its not a case of scapegoats, its a case of the midfield needing strengthening. We've played three good ish teams this season, the mancs, swansea and Southampton, our midfield got dicked in two of them. Swansea and southhampton are unlikely to be challenging for a top four spot this season. Would anyone swap the arsenal midfield of Ozil,, Ramsey, Wiltshire, Arteta, Flamini with ours? I would.

People do realise Allen has been carrying a shoulder injury since last November which required surgery? The link below shows the player liverpool bought and the player Allen was in the twelve month before his injury. Perhaps we should take note of Wengers patience with Arron Ramsey after injury. It seems rodgers is terrified of Gerrard. Why not play him on the flip of 60min start or 30 min sub? Fergurson did it with giggs and scholes. Lucas is a good player but where is the competition for places? Hendo? Allen? Both are not natural to the position. Our midfield is way behind in strength to other top four rivals. Look at the arsenal midfield and weep.

Could've added rosisky and flemani to that arsenal list. It's not a case of "getting shot" of Lucas, it's just to show how woefully undermaned of class players in the midfield area. We know who we're going to play in the middle and so do the opposition, it's to predictable. We were getting mullared the last half hour against swansea, it needs addressing or it'll cost us.

Gary Medal 12mil quid to Cardiff looks an absolute beast of a holding midfielder, played a stormer the other week when Chile drew with Spain. Gareth Barry, loan to Everton. Ericson 11.5mil to spurs. Put them three in our squad and the bench and competition for midfield places would look a whole lot stronger. For a cost of less than 24mil.
