    I enjoyed Koh Samui. Yes, it is touristy but that's cos it's a gorgeous place. I thought it was the probably the best of the parts of Thailand i was in. Bangkok is a shithole but it has to be visited for a night or 2 if heading over that way. I don't think Kata Beach in Karon was mentioned in the thread yet & i would highly recommend it. It's about 15 miles from Phuket & is well worth a visit. It would be a good place to stay for someone who doesn't want the madness of Phuket every single night. Phi Phi is also definitely worth a look. The views as the ferry pulls in to the harbour are amazing. 2 or 3 nights is enough there though. Or at least it was for me. Railay Beach in Krabi is gorgeous. That was where i found the cheapest drink over my time in Thailand. A 660ml bottle of Heineken for about the equivalent of 90c. :drool:

    I stopped watching that after the 6th or 7th episode. I lost what little interest i had fairly soon. Watching the Sopranos now on Sky Atlantic & find it amazing television. I used to watch it years ago but was probably a little too young to understand it. As for The Wire, I watched the first 8 episodes on dvd a few months ago & to be honest it didn't really make the impression on me that i was expecting. I'm recording the whole lot on sky+ now though. I think it probably deservres a second chance.
