  1. Spending 60m on Anthony Gordon doesn't make him a good player
  2. Aren't we playing cl every week until the world cup? Zero chance of getting and keeping everyone fit with that schedule
  3. We'll be second. Where's an international break when you need one hey
  4. He's slow. Think we all agree the midfield lacks legs. I want a midfielder but beyond Bellingham I'm fucked if I know who it could be who would be available. Maybe the club have the same thoughts
  5. So next summer we have Keita, Ox, Bobby all off the payroll - anyone else? As we will need at least one midfielder in, and a new attacker to replace Bobby
  6. Mad we've only got a few years left of Klopp, and there's a real danger we may waste one of them.
  7. If the players don't want it enough any more then get ones who do.
  8. Missing Matip or Konate, no midfield, and Bobby is done as a starter in a game like this. Trent has been absolutely brutal
  9. Surely Naby isn't injured? It really, really does look like we're crying out for a midfielder if he's not going to be available. 3 plus milner and Elliott isn't enough. Jones and Ox don't count
  10. The only thing I dislike about it is it's far more airtime and acknowledgment than agbonlahor deserves
  11. I actually quite liked what Forest had done up till now - 44 m for him though is scandalous
  12. Its clear we need midfield freshening, and alot of our season is dependent on the first four regaining/gaining fitness and staying fit, and how quickly the likes of Elliott and maybe carvalho progress and go to the next level. It isn't immediately obvious to me who is available who definitely makes our midfield better right now. And if we're signing one or more then surely it's to go into the first team and not just for numbers. Klopp and the rest of the management and recruitment structure clearly feel the same way and hence unless someone becomes available we'll likely go with what we have this season. It may cost us when it comes to the title against man city, and likely when it comes to competing on all four fronts (especially with the world cup) but can live with that as we won the fa and caribao last year. I think that and the transitional phase we now face with our new forward line up may result in a slight drop off. On a slightly related note, it's quite depressing to be tearing into this team after two games. I get it's frustrating because the bar is set so high with man city, and we've been matching them for the best part of 4/5 years now. It's very hard to do that! These guys aren't robots.Klopp and this team deserve a huge amount of slack and our support if there is a slight period of adjustment. There is also the fact of the sheer amount of games our players have played with little break for several years now. It may catch up with us slightly. In any event, we will regroup and come back stronger. We're still alot better than Chelsea spurs and arsenal whose fans are all wanking themselves silly and thinking they might compete with us this season. No chance
  13. I think maybe what our performance with 10 men showed is the fluidity of movement you get without a traditional number 9, and we've had for years with Bobby, Jota and most recently sadio playing in the central role. I think in the early days this may be something City also lose with Haaland. This isn't a dig at Nunez, his movement is brilliant and in time we will adapt and I think be better for it, but it is a big change to how we've played for a long time
  14. I think were getting carried away. We didn't play well v Fulham but still should have won, and we played fine last night but obviously circumstances went against us. Some of the frustration I think is because this feeling we've already dropped points on Man city. Of course we have, but they will drop points and maybe we have to be realistic enough to painfully accept this year but if they're rolling off to rack up another 100 points, were not matching it. I think they will accumulate less overall though. I think we're missing Mane, not so much in the position he played for us for years, left wing, as Diaz already took his spot there last year. But as a number 9 last year he was sensational, running in behind, hold up and link play, goals, he was a massive factor in us coming so close to a quadruple. I also think we're missing Jota and the goals and endeavour he provides, and that has put a burden onto Nunez far sooner than Klopp would have intended. It is completely ridiculous the criticism he's getting after around 90 minutes competitive football. He's scored 2 and could have scored 5 or 6. He's clearly going to take some time to acclimatise, the step up to being a massive fee signing as a number 9 for us, from being at almeria and benfica for one season is massive. Can't defend him but it looks like the occasion got to him yesterday and his frustration boiled over. There are parallels with when Klopp signing lewandowski (albeit for comparitive peanuts) in that he was rough round the edges and needed to refine his game, but had all the attributes. When it all comes together we will go to another level. We're in a bit of transition right now
  15. The comments on this thread are a disgrace. A very poor start but we'll be fine, we played well enough today. A poor decision to play Phillips and give palace the only bit of hope they would have in that channel with zaha. It was absolutely stupid from Nunez and he will miss big games now. But we need to back him
  16. Graeme Souness calling it a man's game three times sat next to Karen Carney haha
  17. There's no context to it but not a great look that pic
  18. I don't think it's ever going to happen for Curtis Jones unfortunately. Can see flashes of the ability but just never going to quite be good enough. Already feels like our whole season hinges on our midfield. Can the first 4 be fit enough often enough to have at least three of them available on the pitch. And then beyond them can the young lads, in particular Elliott and Carvalho step up and be the difference makers. I hope so but instinct tells me it may be a year or two too soon. If we don't have it then a very good team can start to look like just an ok team quite quickly. Does feel like we're a player short.
