  1. Yes. Rodgers has every right to be angry with the owners for not sorting this out but let's not try and make out that we have lost a top player because we have not.
  2. Carroll was never fit to wear the Red and never will be. Don't be seduced by the last 8 games of the season, his winner in the Semi and his one man fight back in the final (which was admirable) but that aside he's been very very ordinary indeed. He has the first touch of a 20 stone rapist and he is never going to figure in a Rodgers team hence his departure. No loss to us whatsoever.
  3. Some good points made here. Basically the owners have given Brendan a very tight budget to work with. We made an offer to Fulham for 4M (the Charlie Adam money) and that was all we had to work with, which is a fucking disgrace when you figure how how much money the Boston Red Sox spend every year all for a game of fucking 'rounders' but there we are. I like Rodgers he has my 100% support. FSG/TLA/WTF? or whatever you want to call them have yet to impress me.
  4. Well... We have lost goals from Kuty and Bellamy (who both would have figured this season occasionally and both would have sored goals if still here) He rest of them would not have figured at all and are pretty much deadwood that would only be called upon if we had serious injury so for that reason we should be looking at this as a positive thing that we're gotten them off the payroll. Carroll is a special case in all this, we absolutely postively had to move this lad on in this window no matter what. Another season like last year (or more likely a season sat on the bench with the occassional run out for the last 15 mins) would have seen his stock drop to almost zero and considering we spent £35M on him would be truly unacceptable so this makes a lot of good sense to me. I wish the lad well and hope he can have a good season and make the most of Sam's 'Up an Under' football which will suit him down to the ground and make him look like a player who will ultimatley be worth the £18M that we can hopfully get back for him next year.
  5. Getting rid of Adam and Carroll without immediate replacement is not a problem. Let's calm down and see how Borini gets on and assess this again in January
  6. Haha...It's not a curse. Firstly we're talking about an economic climate that we simply can't compete with in as much as we can't spend half a Billion pounds to win us a League Title such as the likes of Cheslea and City have done (are doing). It's a matter of taking steps in the right direction so that means doing the best we can with the resources that we have and putting a team out on the field that can compete again for Champions League Football first and foremost. Whilst we shouldn't necessarily expect to be finishing above Chelsea, City and Utd (at this moment in our history) we most certainly should be challenging the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham for the 4th CL spot. Simply put we need to get back in the CL and stay there. At that stage we can start to attract and afford to start buying A List footballers again and not have to settle for taking a chance on 'kids with potential' and unknown quantities hoping that they come off. Sounds simple and obvious and we all know it but getting back in the CL is the first and most important step back towards 'greatness'
  7. Relax guys... Swansea got gubbed 4-0 in their first game of last season and still managed to finish mid-table. I'm joking. I think we all need to calm down a little bit, we're all very disappointed by that result and performace yesterday but let's not get too carried away. Throw in a wonder goal, a couple of soft penalties and a sending off and that kind of reverse can happen, just look at Spurs away last season. There seems to be a lot of 'fans' on here who are just waiting for Rogers to fail so they can turn around and say "I told you so"
  8. Ok he had a poor game today let's not get carried away. He's still our best player and that's a fact.
  9. It's the first fucking game of the fucking season for fucks sake. Fuck off and at least try to give the guy a break. Let's see how many points we have after 10 games before we all start jumping in his head eh?
  10. My opinion about the owners is that whilst they aren't terrorists like H&G they simply don't have the passion, resources or ambition to turn us back into a top side. Simply we're a very nice business and a profitable commercial asset to them, and that's it. Their love and passion is Baseball not Football and they are never going to invest as much money in us as they would their baseball team. Basically they just want to run 'this business' as a tight ship that makes a nice annual commercial return for them and that's about it. Better than the bankrupty and oblivion that was the barrell that H&G had us over but is that really what Liverpool Football Club should feel grateful about? Generally underwhelmed with the owners at the moment, they have a lot to do to turn that around and I'm not holding my breath.
  11. How fucked up does somebody have to be to get a fucking tattoo of that? Like trying to explain to somebody who doesn't know that that means that your tattoo is mocking one of the worst tragedies in sporting history and being pleased/proud of yourself about it? We live in a fucked up World.
  12. I might be doing Luis a massive disservice but a part of me is half expecting him to put in a transfer request in the not too distant future. That would not have been the case if Kenny was still in charge however. I won't be that upset strangely, I really won't. Not becuase I would want to see him go, far from it, but after the whole Torres saga it's just the sad reality of football thesedays that World Class players just will simply not play outside of the CL for very long. Secondly I'm of the attitude that if you don't want to play for LFC you can fuck off.
  13. I don't think he'll still be here come August. It's hard to keep top players when you're not in the Champions League. It's not right, it sucks, it shouldn't be that way but that's the reality of where we find ourslelves and we have to rebuild. If we do agree to sell him then I just hope it happens sooner rather than later so that Brendan has the time to reinvest and we don't end up with another 'Carroll/Panic/Last minute deal' situation.
  14. What's the beef with Forest? (just curious, never really noticed that much tbh) Well apart from "We hate Nottingham Forest..."
  15. Never heard of him (or at least he's never been on the radar). Ask me about him again after I've watched him for 10 games. In the meantime...Good Luck mate, welcome aboard.
  16. Let's be honest we just can't give this cunt away can we? (as in nobody will buy him) So we might as well just 'give the cunt away'? He's shit, one of the worst signings we've ever made, get him off the wage bill. He wants to play in Italy, not England. Simple. Even if we dragged him back his heart is just not in it. We may as well put him and us out of our misery...I mean if we can simply 'write off' £35 Million over bloody stadium plans surely another £7M (or whatever we think he's worth now) to get the bastard off the payroll would make sense.
  17. No. King Kenny will remain in his family home. Kenny, at his time of life (even if offered a new job elsewhere) would not take a new job now. I imagine his heart is a little broken, as are and have been the hearts of all true reds. One day there will stand a statue of than man alonside Shanks make no mistake.
  18. Brendan: I watached your press conference today and, as a sceptic I might add, I was impressed. The hairs stood up on on the back of my neck more than once. You'll fight for your life? If that's truly true, and if you'll fight for us and the liver bird upon your chest then we will fight for yours. This man is NOT Roy Hodgson...that is clear already. I wasn't excited I'll admit but now I can't wait to get behind this man and our team.
  19. Somewhere in the middle. When Hodgson was appointed I was just totally underwhelmed and bemused as to how this old journeyman who had done nothing in his career had landed this job. When Kenny was appointed I was elated for weeks and genuinely excited that he could take us back to the good times. So what about Rodgers? I liked the football Swansea played last year so that's a plus (and something that Hodgson could never have had agaist his name), you can also say that he drastically overachieved last season when Swansea would have been favourites to go down at the start of the season so again he deserves credit for that. I'm not as disappointed at this appointment as I am the fact that the owners didn't even want to consider Rafa for one and two the fact that 'of the rest' this seems like the best we could have done which is just astounding and very very sobering. Good luck lad, you're going to need it.
  20. Number 3: He knows, as all wise men do, that white liquid in a bottle is indeed Milk.
  21. Yes this is clearly the minimum standard now for the new management team. Soooo....we're either going to be back in the Champions League or we're going to be going through more new managers than Chavski. I've been very upset about Kenny's departure and what's gone on this last couple of weeks but I've had time to calm down now and regain some perspective. Assuming that Rodgers or Martinez will be the new boss we do have 'some' staws to clutch to that make this appointment so much different to Hodgson. The main one being the fact that the pair of them like to play a damn sight better bloody football than the old Owl ever did (and still does). Success or failure will depend upon... 1. Getting the most out the current players. 2. The quality of the new signings with whatever money is available. 3. A little but of luck (i.e. Not hitting the post 5000 times in a season and missing all of your penalties) Liverpool CAN get back into the Top 4 next season without having to spend £100M, whether we will or not will depend on the above 3 points. If you don't believe that we can, you are at best being overly negative and at worst...*Fill in your own expletive* If we fail we can direct our venom at FSG but in the meantime the Manager (whoever that will be) and the Players need our full and unwavering support.
  22. Somebody should ask Dave Whelan what's going on with the stadium.
