  1. I agree with Rainman, he'll definitely be gone within the next 21 or 22 years.
  2. I don't think his first name is 'Surely'.
  3. John Noble plays Denethor in the 3rd Lord of the Rings film 'Return of the King'. He's pretty good in that too.
  4. For me he is in a similar situation to John Barnes. Having been one type of player for the majority of his career, he now finds himself having to do other things to help the team. His eye-catching days are largely over, though glimpses of greatness will still happen. Fans should respect the job he does now, something that largely didn't happen with Barnes towards the end.
  5. I agree that sometimes in defence we'll get caught out, or simply as you say will just pass it about without direction, but again I wouldn't class this as "fucking about" as the opposition have to react in some way to a pass that is made. For example if our CB passess it the the other CB, their forward either closes it down or not, either way one of our centre backs then brings it out. I realise this is a bit "everything's rosy" thinking but the idea isn't a wholly bad one in my opinion. Just to point out though, I'm not totally enamoured with it, just that I see what we're trying and I believe we'll get better at it the more we play and the better players we have in the team.
  6. Just a quick reply to those people who are saying "fucking about" in relation to us passing the ball around for long periods without getting anywhere. The idea there is that, sooner or later, as we move the ball and our players around the pitch, the opposition players are forced to either move with our players or hold their position. If they move with our players it creates space for other players to move into. If they hold their position our players are free to receive a pass and will be in space. As these two things continue to happen eventually the opposition will become a little disjointed and disorganised at which point we play through/in behind them for a chance. Now I think this has happened in quite a few games this season and we've seen numerous chances created this way (similarly under Dalglish if you ask me, but that's another story.) I don't mean to be pedantic posting this as I'm sure everyone understands the idea behind this style of play, I just don't think it's fair to call it "fucking aabout" when there is a good idea behind it, and quite frankly a pretty simple one at that - pass and moving creates spaces.
  7. Used my £50 free bet from Betfred on 7 way accy, which came in - £581 please Mr. Bookmaker.
  8. Right, so another issue to come out of this is that being discriminatory off the pitch is not as bad as on the pitch? That can't be right can it?
  9. Shouldn't this be getting the same level of media interest as Suarez? Seriously, isn't he guilty of the same crime of discrimination? Shouldn't he get the same punishment? Don't particularly want a full debate again, just thought these things as I was reading about Morrison.
  10. Whether you want to admit it or not, this whole issue, going right back to the racist comment claim, immediately became an issue of perception as much as fact. And once that fact is accepted, as the perceived guilty party, Luis/the club should have acted in a much more coherent and proactive manner. Along the way, right from the original accusation through to Saturday, mistakes have been made and opportunities missed to do what the entire country viewed as correct. Again I will say that because this was now an issue of perception, we should have acted accordingly, whether we felt wronged or not, the whole situation is much bigger than any one incident or person involved. The fact that there have been apologies from the player Suarez, Kenny and the club means that we can have a clear conscience about what happened yesterday, and as such are free to move on with our season. Personally I can't stand the general media and the amount of poor journalism I see is staggering, but like it or not, they control public opinion and are responsible for shaping the perception of Suarez and Liverpool. As such, to a certain extent, it benefits us to play their game. In all honesty, I think Kenny gives them enough of a hard time during interviews for anyone to suggest we as a club are a soft touch in any way. In summary, the apologies should allow us to move on, and as such, can only be viewed as the right thing to do. Any feelings that we have been wronged, which I believe we have on a number of points throughout the whole issue, have to be put on the back burner for our club to benefit. We have to begin to be viewed positively again by media, clubs, players, fans etc.
  11. When Rafa was sacked, a mate of mine said, "I told you he wouldn't win us the league" as if it was a golden nugget of foresight which only he had. It pissed me right off as, obviously, it's the easiest thing in the world to point the finger at your manager and say, he's not up to it. In my opinion, we're not at a point yet where anyone can say with any degree of certainty whether Dalglish is the man for us or not. I'm surprised to read someone saying they're not happy with our performances. I think, by and large, we're playing decent stuff and making a fair few chances in every game. Clearly there are issues (clean sheets, scoring etc) but I think issues would be there whoever the manager. There's no problem having doubts, everyone does, but Dalgligh deserves time to put things right. He's not had 12 months yet, and given the state of the club on his arrival, I don't think any right minded person would expect him to have us much further along than he has. (Just as an aside, go back 12 months and remember how you felt about things then, I bet it's much much worse than now). To summarise, I've got my doubts, but I've got my faith too.
  12. Fair shout, but by looking back you'll only do your own head in comparing our players today with our best players from the past to see how far away we are. The only thing that matters is that these players are better than the ones they directly replace, and what I'm trying to say is that they are. I believe Downing and Adam are better than Maxi and Spearing (though I hope Spearing still gets games to see if he can improve further), Henderson I'm not sure of but I'll trust the manager on that one. To be honest though, saying that these players 'fill you with dread' is a bit too far if you ask me. I'll ask again - what does a midfield group last year of Gerard, Kuyt, Cole, Jovanovic, Maxi, Lucas, Spearing, Poulsen fill you with?
  13. There's no way we're going to be predictable next year. Do you honestly think we'll continually play the same way over and over if things aren't going well? Hate to speak ill of past managers but that was Roy's mistake, not changing when he saw things weren't working. I don't think you can label Kenny's team from last season as predictable. And the players we've signed, whether you think they are poor, average, good or whatever, will only make us more unpredictable. We've got a bit of everything in midfeild, which is where our business has been done so far.
  14. I think this sums up a lot of people's feelings. We've spent big, we've took a risk, only time will tell if it's good or bad. Debating whether players will be good or bad is one thing, but saying out right we shouldn't sign Britsh players is not right surely? I for one believe that everyone we have signed have made us a better sqaud AND team than last year. Sloan, do you think that Downing isn't an improvement on Maxi as a winger? Or Cole?
  15. Seriously? Adam, Henderson, Downing (and probably Gerard) as a midfield 4 fills you with dread? Tell me - what did a midfield of Maxi, Lucas, Spearing and Kuyt fill you with at the start of Kenny's tenure? Because I know I thought they weren't as good as they played under him as manager. I find it amazing people are judging before they've kicked a ball for our club.
  16. I think we're signing up some good and very good players to go with some outstanding ones we've already got. All of which is adding up to a pretty impressive squad. Take our midfield - Downing, Henderson, Gerrard, Adam, Lucas, Spearing, Miereles, Aquiliani, Cole, Maxi, Kuyt. Even if some move on, to me that's a decent set of players, most of which can play in more than one position, and all of which mean we could line up with a tough midfield, a passing midfield, an attacking midfield or any other type of midfield necessary, for a particular game or during a particular game depending on how things are going. And that is what you need to win matches - variation. Kenny plays attacking football and passing football, that won't change. But there are numerous ways to attack and numerous ways to pass. With that group of midfielders I'd say we're sorted - even if we lose Aquilani and Maxi (and probably Cole too). Give me a left back and a decent striker to support Suarez, Carroll and Kuyt (I know I mentioned him as a midfielder but I think he'll be a striker much more often next year), and I think we'll be right up there come the end of the season.
  17. I think it's fair to say that we're paying a lot of money for Downing, if we do get him. But I think it's a pretty sure thing that he'll improve our team/squad. And that is the key point when signing any player at any time of any age for any money - does he improve us. Does anybody actually think this isn't the case? Does anybody seriously think that buying him will make us worse? If we get him, I think he'll do well. Clearly he isn't as good as others around the world who play in the same position, but he is good and £20 million is the going rate. Who are our other options on the left - Maxi, Cole, Kuyt, Suarez (at a push). I think Downing gives you something different from all of those players and, in some games this season, we'll need something different and if Downing gives us it, it'll add points to our total. I think he'll prove a lot of people wrong if we get him.
  18. Exactly. Statistics can be used to give weight to any point. 87% of people know that.
  19. And he said, "Sussudio". He's having a medical as we speak.
  20. And the point is, there'd be seperate threads for the seperate issues so that people could debate them seperately. Did you read the original idea?
  21. As Phil Collins said, "Well Jesus, he knows me, and he knows I'm right. I've been talking to Jesus, all my life."
  22. Sorry - 'undecided'. It's like putting your hand up to answer a question then saying, proudly, "I don't know".
