I think there's a difference between a DM and the antiquated idea of an enforcer. The latter doesn't exist any more, and for good reason; they'd spend most of the time suspended. Even in the last five years there's been a move away from players sticking a few early harsh tackles in on sides like Arsenal (it was Stoke's MO for years), as gutless refs like Webb - so often praised for "letting the game flow" - are being given instructions to protect players. The whole enforcer ethos was to supposedly stamp some authority on the opposition by instilling fear. They're not necessary any more, and whilst I rate Hendo he's about as far away from an enforcer as you can get. The role has split, into DM snides like Herrera and those who understand the value of a professional foul. The closest the modern game has is a thug like Cattermole.

You need a bit of that, put in a reducer, let them know you're there, get in and amongst them, that's never a foul for me Clive. What's that, he's been sent off? The game's going soft. I'd rather have my leg broken and family killed by mutant wasps than be spat at Clive.

A measly 30 inches. I haven't seen any extension cables for sale in the UK yet, so you either have to sit up close to a small screen or amid long HDMI and USB cables. I've set mine up on a bureau with a little flat screen TV, but even then I have to unfurl cables and have the console in my lap. On the plus side, I don't have to get up to hit the reset button to save and change games.

Yeah, the current rumour of £199 and £249 with a game seems spot on. After the Wii U I'm less inclined to jump in day one, but at that price it becomes tough to pass up, particularly if it has a 3D Mario at launch. They're being pretty coy about how it's pitched; the line about "home console" in the West wasn't translated as such in Japan, where they're more interested in pushing the portable aspect. It seems they're consolidating both home console and portable into one, but leaning heavily on the latter whilst pretending that it isn't a slow retreat from dedicated home consoles. You'll likely get better resolution when it's docked, but other than that it's a handheld with a fancy TV out.

I've gone for Yashin, but looking around I reckon there are about half a dozen really good keepers and then a pretty steep drop off to the rest. Didn't want to leave that pick too long, just in case.

The funny thing is, if anything, the Wii U was an exception. They overproduced initially at a higher price point (a strong yen, custom components), and struggled to clear the backlog, leaving them without the ability to cut the price or reduce production costs with a revised model. The forecasts for the Switch will probably be conservative, and I can't blame them for not foreseeing that the NES Mini would sell like hotcakes, there have been similar products for other consoles that've hardly set the world alight; no one was queueing up for the Neo Geo X or a plug in Mega Drive pad.
