  1. I think Stoke get an unfair rep over their style of football, they play some decent stuff for a team put together on a pittance, and utilise their strengths really well. It's not a crime to tackle Arsenal players.
  2. In my experience Chelsea fans have always been horrible nasty shithouses, proved by this fella on here. They're a small club who won the lottery.
  3. Blatant pen there, Atkinson shit out.
  4. I'd love to know how you came to this conclusion. And surely the saddest thing about the whole issue is the Sun printing what they did?
  5. The vast majority of this speculation is pulled out of thin air.
  6. What's the use of all that extra money if it's not going back into the club? Money for transfers will still be tight because of the huge interest payments, and ticket prices, and anything else they can squeeze us for, will go up just to keep afloat. It's a project that will certainly benefit them with all the corporate perks involved, but it won't benefit the fans, the manager and team. There needs to be more education on just how potentially dangerous this new stadium project will be, especially without the CL cash cow. Most just see the flashy design and extra capacity and think our problems will be solved but they'll only just be starting.
  7. Stadium is half empty. 1-0 Stoke.
  8. Potentially bad news if it means he can now borrow to fund the stadium. I'm not sure why there's such a furore about getting it built anyway. We'll be suffocated by even more debt and in an even more perilous position, even with the extra money generated, which will just about pay off the interest. It's a vanity project, nothing more, and the fans will be squeezed to pay for it.
  9. Surely the Mail has now lost all credibility for transfer speculation. If it ever had any.
  10. Just the SUN for me. Though it's more out of habit than any real concious effort these days. I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole anyway. The NOTW has never been part of any boycott and, as far as I'm aware, has never suffered any loss of sales on Merseyside, which says it all really. It's only in recent times has it been linked as we search for more and more enemies, even though it's obviously always been part of the same group.
  11. Having a pop at us over Hillsborough, questioning why other tragedies are not as newsworthy. Classy guy.
  12. Excellent talent - strong, quick, good control and technique - and better than anyone we have as back up currently. But lads like him will never get picked up by the top clubs anymore, there's too much clamour for expensive foreign imports.
  13. Clear pen. Man first before a slight touch on the ball. Should be a cracking replay up there.
  14. He did miss some whoppers by the end but early on in the season, before all the nonsense, he gave us some much needed control up front and provided a good hard working, experienced option when Torres was out. I can remember him featuring in some great victories against the mancs and Chelsea. It's fair to argue that in the end he lacked the character to play for a top club, but how much of that was down to his confidence being sapped by the political stuff is hard to judge.
  15. He's 'appy 'arry and mates with all the journos innit. The only negative about the Keane signing for me was the price but he was the ideal player to go for at the time - homegrown, experienced - and we were always going to pay a premium. I think if Benitez didn't really want him he should have put his foot down, but he let it get very messy and by the end it was a shambles which did affect the player, who didn't know if he was coming or going. The subsitutions became a running joke.
  16. Carra is a good organiser but shouting and bawling doesn't always mean a great leader. I can't remember Souness ever going mad at anyone. He had an authoritive aura about him and wasn't to be messed with. When he's on his game Stevie has that presence, though maybe he can care too much at times and lets it affect him.
  17. Keane was a good buy but became a victim of the political shenanigans that was going on behind the scenes. He fitted in really well at the start of the season and we reaped the rewards with an excellent run of wins before the spotlight on him became intolerable and something had to give. I'd love to have him in the squad now.
  18. I wish I was back in Liverpool.
  19. I thought Leeds were playing well and looked dangerous. I really like Beckford, pity it's unfashionable to take a punt on lower league players these days.
  20. Yep. He's not one to indulge players but we don't have the funds to go out and buy a proven world class performer to sit on the bench, so we take a gamble on potential and hope they respond to the challenge at a big club. I wouldn't worry anyway, he starts for Sunderland today so I doubt a deal will materalise this window, if at all.
  21. There's no 'apparently' about it. Rafa's mentality and approach, at least in England, is suited to a more direct game. On occasions we can play passing flowing football but we're so inconsistant that we need that target man option. It's a tactic he's had much success with so why change.
  22. I like Arsenal a lot and love the way they play game, but Wenger has turned into a right knobhead. Great manager though.
  23. Stevie is a great captain and has nothing to prove anymore. It's ludicrous to even suggest taking the armband off him.
