  1. four or five i reckon, trouble is by that it won't be the penny that we'll have dropped, it'll be around 200 million
  2. and cant score for shit - he'd fit right in!
  3. the twittersphere is awash with rumours linking us with colback no, no and no
  4. overrated overpriced british talent - just our type of signing we'll sell him for less than half what we paid for him in a couple of years and he won't cope with the pressure of playing for a club that aspires for champions league, will score a few but is certainly not the solution - rather he is part of the ongoing problem with regard to signing policy we are becoming like the villa team of a couple of years ago, a lot of decent english players, good enough for sixth - Liverpool deserve better
  5. Downing had loads of ball today, and a few chances tooi all he did all day was cut back on his left and either pass it back to johnson or put in an aimless cross (not entirely his fault, movement in box isn't great either) he just annoys me so much now, i know he won't score when he gets a chance, he'll hit a nice safe shot on target, doesn't want to embarrass himself but doesn't have the balls to go for anything same with his wide play, never beats a player, just cuts back all the time and looks for someone else to take the responsibility for the final ball or bangs it to nobody in particular you know he won't provide an accurate cross or hit a shot with any kind of venom, just a really safe kopout player, short on confidence, trying not to make mistakes, neat and tidy and offering very little, got so much ball and did so very little with it, he is becoming a liability and 20 million for him looks an absolute joke of a fee, overpriced at half that on current form, he just doesn't seem to have the character to be a big team player which is the greatest criticism of all
  6. good teams find a way to put the ball in the net, fed up hearing about chances, woodowrk and opposition goalkeepers and world class saves - truth is we are not good enough at the most important thing in football = scoring goals An injury hit blackburn with a laod of untried kids at the back, haven't had a clean sheet all season and the manager is a lame duck yet we can't punish them and make them look like heroes some people think we are grand, fine and dandy, playing well and dominating games and our "luck" will turn and all we need is to buy a finisher and our problems will be magically solved they are wrong, we need more than that we need a creative midfielder, now with gerrard back, we may get that we need a winger with pace and who scores goals. bellamy can do that guys like downing, 0 goals and 0 assists this season and carroll and kuyt and adam and henderson are all ok safe footballers, but don't have that extra bit of class and magic that cuts teams open, they are effective and functional and they'll get you to 6th place in the league we need more players like gerrard and suarez who can conjure up something out of nothing...guys like hazard and eriksen and then off course the poacher that everyone's talking about - if we don't get those type of players in we have no chance of fourth, we are workmanlike, attacking, efficient and high tempo/high pressure with a good back four but we lack goals and class where it counts, the magic final ball so often goes astray and we don't have the clinical cutting edge that good teams have six draws at home and it's not even 2012 yet says it all bad luck my arse, not good enough in front of goal = serious problem = can't be solved by signing a striker alone = systematic reexamination of culture of the team needed = necessity to prioritise skillful technical talent over hardworking functional english talent = most likely won't be solved this season = spending policy this summer was overall a mistake = very little chance of champions league spot
  7. http://www.elfvoetbal.nl/nieuws/1560...-en-vertonghen don't know how reliable this site is but eriksen and vertonghen for about 33 million quid would be decent business, i assume we'd play vertonghen in defensive midfield role as we don't exactly lack for centre backs eriksen is a good player and would provide us with some badly needed creativity and skill in midfield on top of those two i'd take either luuk de jong and soldado as a striker and say thank you santa and go for fourth
  8. I've always thought our players were far too meek and didn't protest, complain or pressurise the ref enough, the one effing time we do it after an awful decision by a ref - we get charged lol, yet I see it happen time and time again with other teams, maybe it's because we so rarely do it that it stands out - punished for our own decency, what a total and utter fucking joke oh and of course suarez getting charged again for doing something that other players didn't get charged for our whole season gone to dogshite because of a certain mr. kevin friend and the FA why don't the internet terrorists at rawk do something useful like bombard the FA with emails instead of doing poxy x factor competitions we can't take this lying down, first there was xenophobia against rafa, now that xenophobia has targetted suarez, now they just think we are fair game to be made an example of - unlike Man U they don't expect us to make a big fuss about it, a nice high profile team to take to the cleaners without affecting the title race and with dignified fans/management who'll bluster for a bit and then take their medicine let's not fucking take this - start writing letters, sending emails, making phone calls and mobilising fans now, don't be cynical and above it all, get involved and make those kants realise our fans don't take injustice lightly
  9. a goalkeeping error for their goal our usual battering of the woodwork a goal ruled off for offside dempsey gets a yellow for sticking his head into bellamy twice, goes on to score spearing gets a red for playing the ball we get awarded a free kick and senderos gets a yellow for a challenge that may have been in the box and was possibly a red and senderos went on to commit more fouls some of those issues were debateable but they all went against us...every single one so we didn't have the rub of the green BUT as usual we aren't good enough to make a dodgy ref redundant we create chances, we pile the pressure on and we look decent defensively so we are 80% of the way there BUT we lack bigtime in the most important area, having the composure to take your chances Downing remains on 0 goals and 0 assists (he looked good tonight when he came on but overall has been disappointing) Carroll was poor and is looking like more and more of a disasterous flop of a transfer with each passing game, he badly needs to stop the rot but I can't see it and he affects our style of play, it's looking like an awful kneejerk decision by comolli/dalglish to sign the guy when he was flavour of the month, I rememeber being disgusted on the day that we paid about twice what I thought he was worth and although I want him to come good and want to give him a chance, so far he is doing a great job of proving the doubters wrong, signed a year ago and still failing to deliver Henderson is winning me over in recent games, working his socks off in the middle, neat and tidy on the ball and fair play to him for "doing a Lucas" and responding to early criticism by putting in huge effort and workrate and a fair bit of quality too we won't get CL unless we sign a top striker and defensive midfielder minimum and possibly a right winger too yes, we have been unluck with decisions and goalkeepers and woodwork but we make those issues important by not being good enough to make them unimportant - we have a good team but we're not quite good enough at the moment, fix it in January Kenny or we'll be without CL for another year
  10. we hammered these last year with a mobile fast-paced attack and stocking up in midfield, why not go with that system again? what if carroll gets owned by hangeland? maybe kenny thinks we can beat these with this system too and wants carroll to get the confidence of (hopefully) a few goals, hope you're right kenny coz if we lose or draw this we are in serious bother - standards are high this season and a win is essential to the cl quest
  11. jesus, a major case of hodgsonitis there from kenny, usually he is brilliant with the media to be fair but some seriously dumb comments there stating maxi was in his prime five years ago and he is getting towards kenny's age now makes it sound like he is 36 or something - he is younger than gerrard and still in his prime if you ask me, has been excellent for us whenever called upon, particularly under kenny, so i don't understand where these remarks are coming from, the guy is only 30 ffs and still in top shape and playing well - so as I said a rare example of hodgsonitis from kenny and if we are to be men of integrity we should call him on it
  12. our current central midfield options of spearing, adam, henderson and shelvey are all decent players BUT nowhere near good enough to deliver CL football, compare that four with the central midfield options of our rivals for CL football and we're lagging, compare our foursome with midtable sides and it's still in doubt if we are superior midfield is key in football, play flows through it and opposition play is stopped there - we need to buy a world class central midfield player in January or we have sfa chance of CL Losing Lucas is a hammer blow, he was flying it and approaching world class levels in recent times - he will leave a huge hole and it needs to be filled Gerrard needs to get fit but he is not the solution, we need to spend 20-30 million on a world class central midfielder preferably who can break up play and pass the ball, commonly linked names are m'vila, matuidi, de rossi, martinez but there are other less well-known player that can do a job - Comolli needs to step it up because this has the potential to develop into a crisis so we must now add defensive midfielder to right-winger and goal poacher on our January shopping list, 60 million should do it Mr. Henry, otherwise forget CL
  13. lucas, coates and bellamy will get most of the plaudits and rightfully so, hope lucas is ok however i have 2 observations 1. henderson played well tonight, the guy covers a lot of ground and is decent on the ball, central midfield is where he belongs long-term, i was impressed with him tonight 2. our so-called second string is not so far off our first eleven in terms of quality, in my opinions guys like maxi and bellamy offer more than kuyt and downing, you saw how they took the first goal, tell me if you think downing and kuyt would have shown the same composure, johnson v kelly is very tight also and coates is putting serious pressure on skrtel, spearing is also a great option in the middle and if lucas is injured then spearing will do a job for us there, carroll had a mixed game but put in the effort and showed a good touch on occassion, needs to start scoring regularly though to build confidence
  14. lads, is there any danger the carroll, henderson, downing signings might be the modern day equivalent of houllier's disasterous troika of diouf, diao and cheyrou?
  15. the reason why we talk about opposition goalkeepers and woodwork is because we make those things crucial if arsenal or spurs or man city are winning 3-1 or 4-0 or whatever not as much is made of the goalkeeper making saves or the woodwork because it doesn't matter as they've already produced the goods, vorn only made two or three saves today, other keepers will have been a lot busier in the premier league today - we just made his saves vital by being so woeful in the previous 80 minutes we don't produce the goods so we cling to woodwork stats and the opposition goalie making a few saves as proof that we are just unlucky, when do we stop believing that? carroll, henderson and downing for just over 70 million is looking like a worse piece of business with every passing game and I am starting to lose a bit of patience with them, 70 million plus for three players who have been nothing but average or worse in the 40 plus combined appearances they've made for us, 70 million that could have been spent on two world class players minus the English tax to be honest i am starting to look at houlliers 20 million triple signing of diouf, diao and cheyrou in 2002, signings that set us back years and hoping history isn't about to repeat itself but so far the three of them are doing a pretty good job of making that comparison look very valid, please please prove me wrong guys
  16. back four played well, i wouldn't automatically let carra back in, kelly and johnson is a 50/50 call i think our best midfield/attack by a distance is maxi lucas adam bellamy gerrard suarez that six would rip sides to pieces...all good on the ball and with excellent movement, they'd suit kenny's fast-paced passing game down to a tee unfortunately however we spunked 70 million plus on carroll/downing/henderson and i guess those who spent the cash will give these players chance after chance after chance to put in even half-reasonable performances to justify the huge transfer fees involved, that's fair enough, they're all decent players and deserve a chance BUT NOT when it's to the detriment of the performance of the first eleven henderson is a tidy hard-working player, needs a bit more confidence and to be more dynamic downing started well but has faded in recent weeks - i think he is trying too hard at times and should just play his natural game, stay wide and ping it in carroll is drifting wide or deep far too often (suarez should be doing that) and is quite static when the ball is played into the box, instead of making a run, he just stands there expecting the ball to be laser-guided to his head/feet...he slows our play a bit at the moment and needs to improve his touch, i'd keep him as a dangerous wepaon off the bench for the time being, he is 22 and will get better the midfield/attacked i have selected is by far our best option, it will NOT be selected, that disappoints me because points will be dropped unnecessarily good three points today, we still have a battle for the champions league spot, if we played our best 11 i'd fancy us, with the current team it'll be a battle, the three english signings have all done ok, but for 70 million i expect better and if they continue to be selected i hope they improve and justify kenny's faith in them
  17. when was the last time we came back in a match, usually when we're in the lead we're great at giving it up, has happened multiple times this season but when behiind we blow and we blow but we never knock the effing house down, well we're due to batter someone's house down and what better place, come on boys, it's been ages since a comeback win
  18. unused sub for milan tonight in a big game at juventus came on as a sub the previous few games (i presume sub appearances count) is it 20 or 25 appearances he needs to get to for us to get the 7 mil? even if he stays fit throughout the season they'll be sneaky about it and make sure he doesn't quite get there jesus, we are going to get mugged again here, how dull are we? we're making offloading this lad look as hard as solving fermat's last theorem why didn't we just agree a 7/8 million deal with someone...anyone and get this monkey off our backs this transfer and transfers like this frustrate the shit out of me
  19. i'm as serious as a heart attack mate gerrard can easily do 60 minutes, the guy is chomping at the bit to get involved and there's nothing like the bitters to get stevie going, Spearing can come on for him if/when he tires as for skrtel and carra, it's far from ideal, i'll grant you that but we can't throw Coates into a derby match when the guy's never even started a premier league game and agger unfortunately is out i hope you are convinced now, maxi, suarez, bellamy and downing would tear everton to pieces and they suit kenny's fast paced pass and move style of play perfectly
  20. Is it possible a naming rights deal can be done in a similar vein to how the shirt sponsorship deal was done i.e. Coca-Cola agree to pay us a minimum of 15 million per year over the next ten years, but will add 5 million for any year we enter the champions league group stages? So any fears that we are not an attractive proposition for a corporation could well be unfounded as all we need to do is be a tad flexible with regard to our negotiating strategy at the moment we have three choices a) do nothing b) redevelop anfield c) develop a new stadium likely cost of b = 200 million less naming rights likely cost of c = 350 million less naming rights likely yield from b = 20 million per year likely yield from c = 35 million per year increase in value of club from b = 100 million increase in value of club from c = 250 million yes, the above figures are simplistic and speculative but they give you a rough idea of the choice FSG faces In short, investing in a new stadium is a much bigger risk and will require a greater capital outlay and possibly add huge debt to the club if indeed the enormous loans can even be secured in the first place, however the likely yield from this investment and value it would add to the club is quite the nugget - i believe fsg will ultimately plump for this option reasons for delay 1) securing best possible naming rights deal 2) securing best possible terms on loan 3) fsg contains a large pool of investors, to reach consensus on what is essentially a huge investment risk will take time
  21. let's go at these tossers, no fannying about worrying about tactics or holes in midfield or cahill's aerial ability, they're a horribly average side not worth worrying about so let's just blitz the fcukers reina kelly carra skrtel enrique maxi lucas gerrard downing suarez bellamy bring carroll and kuyt on after 70 minutes when we're three nil up i just like the idea of loads of our small tricky nasty players running rings around their defense, they'd enjoy playing against the likes of kuyt and carroll more than the team i've selected, so please let's trust in our superior pace, ability, skill and interplay and just twat them - the team i've selected above won't be selected by kenny because 99% of manager's are inherently cautious but that team would destroy them about 6-2 and it's a shame it's not going to happen, still i'd settle for a scrappy 1-0 win with the winner coming off carroll's ponytail
  22. I'd like something decided by end of 2011 to be honest so we can get on with building/refurbishing the bloody thing transfer window out of the window, now let's make a final decision on the stadium before the next transfer window i think they are probably still negotiating a naming rights deal with someone and we will most likely announce we are moving to a new 65,000 stadium but i don't want it to drag on and on and on so i ask you ...when are we likely to get definitive stadium news?
