  1. it's worrying when shelvey's post-match analysis makes a lot more sense than our manager's - what an awful awful season in the league and what awful awful signings kenny has made - there is just no getting away from that
  2. the killer was a nice guy, he went to church every sunday and helped old ladies cross the street, his only problem was he liked repeatedlystabbing people in the eye your attitude is dangerous, when we accept that, when we look for excuses and positives after that, when we are not angered and sickened to our soul by that, then my friend we are well and truly fcuked as a club i don't recognise that Liverpool, the one that let a 2-0 lead slip against a shite side and the one that seeks to justofy the collapse - we need drastic changes and we need them fast, I don't believe Kenny can carry out or even recognises the extent of transition required, he fcuked up paying almost 80 million for CHAD (Carroll, henderson, adam, downing) - just a monumental fcuk-up that has hurt the club greatly
  3. about 99% of wanted to give the King a go last season and he delivered immediately, the Liverpool haters said we got the results because there was no pressure and the man was a dinosaur in terms of pride, integrity and love for the club there is no match for the King but as a football coach this season perhaps has exposed him somewhat, particularly his signings so we either commit to giving him a few years to sort things out or get a new man in I personally love the guy but don't think he is the right man for us anyway I'd like to see what the general consensus is as today has certainly made it clear we won't get CL, we have won 2 of 11, lost three straight for the first time in 10 years and are 6 points above 15th - all that after we spent a shedload in the summer on the positive side, Kenny and DC removed a lot of deadwood, have us playing the right way (most of the time) and won the Carling Cup, Kenny also stands up for the club in the media, he lives and breathes the club unlike that utter embarrassment Hodgson weighing all that up I want people to say how they see his future
  4. yet we get all the media love-in for spurs and 'arry and they haven't beaten man u in their last 26 games....to think their fans and their media cheerleaders thought they had a chance this season - like a lot of english clubs they lack bottle and convictions and bend over when it counts, we may be inconsistent but at least we tend to perform on the big occassions, our problem is quite the opposite, we can't seem to put away shite sides.... but let's forget about signing these bilbao lads now after they played united off the park tonight and after atletic's likely champions league qualification and after the three to them play for spain in euro 2012 the costs for munain, llorente and javi martinez will skyrocket we have missed the boat on those lads, out of our league now we hired the likes of comolli so we could sign those type of players BEFORE they lit up the world stage - another sign of our total muppetry in the transfer market last season let's put it like this this time last summer we would have gotten munain(15), llorente(30) and javi martinez(25) for the price we paid for carroll, henderson and downing their respective values now are munain (35) llorente (40) javi martinez (35) our lads are carroll (12) henderson (10) and downing (8) great business last summer kk and dc.....
  5. take your pick, walcott, bent or defoe....he said the team were going for CL so I'd say it was defoe and if we offered 20 million for him we are as clueless as ever - the guy is nearly 30......to be honest after Comolli says 1 minute big players are dying to join our project then the next minute says we only need a few adjustments I am thinking he has been told off by the owners and to lower expectations....yet again we need major surgery after the expensive botched job of last summer but I have a bad feeling these guys might not invest what is necessary - hell we didn't do it in January when the world and his dog knew we needed a striker at least......we can blame comolli or kenny or the owners but somebody fcuked up and what's the result, we have 10 points from our last 10 games and have 1 point more than we did last season at this stage, abysmal!
  6. anyone got a times subscription, apparently he is critical of evra and ferguson....wow, get that, someone in the media having a go at a lad for starting a half-time ruck and inciting the crowd and a manager commenting int he strongest possible language publically on other teams players -you'd think more would have picked up on it but no they all seem to be writing reams and reams of rubbish about a handshake and extrapolating that the world may will end because it didn't happen, even cameron is sticking his fat populist nose is, jesus christ, what have sky done to this game? oh and our owners and md have sold us out to dry and sucked all these parasites off...but anyway on to barrett's piece, anyone got it, i quite fancy reading something that doesn't make my eyes bleed for a change
  7. i am starting to have doubts about the owners, they're of course, not in the same league as the previous lot, but they've lost a lot of goodwill one thing that is the hallmark of this regime is slowness, slowness to make decisions and to respond urgently and decisively to issues let's begin 1. slowness to dismiss hodgson, should have happened at least a month before it did 2. slowness to make a decision about the stadium, in charge for a year and a half and still nothing substantial on that 3. slowness to deal with the suarez issue, let the witch hunt carry on for week after week and then spinelessly grovel to all the critics 4. slowness to sort out the internal politics at the club, hire comolli and ayre and leave it at that, and then what, promote them, give them different job titles - fuck that, neither of them are up to it, make the changes required, show some balls for a change 5. slowness to respond to the torres sale, had we no idea he might leave, had we no contingency plan in place, obviously not as we stumped out 35 million on a 10 million pound player 6. slowness to snap up transfer targets, our negotiations take an age, lowball offers, hassling and haggling - nobody signed in January despite our inability to score goals and Lucas injury it seems like we are just coasting along aimlessly hoping things go well, no real leadership at the club apart from Kenny who seems to have to take everything on his shoulders while comolli and ayre and henry hide in the background - i thought when parry and h&G were around the days of our great club being run like a circus was over, today is further proof that we remain a laughing stock run by clowns - sort this fucking mess out - everyone one of you bar kenny has shown yourself up as being out of his depth and not worthy of the club up to now - utter jokers
  8. how many apologies are we going to put out? whose next? the groundsman, the tea-ladies? I have no fucking words for how appalled I am by all of this
  9. looks like kenny has been told off now too this is the day the owners and ayre lost the fans and once that happens you are in serious shit ayre and the owners might get plaudits from the parasites who attack the club but they've lost us today shameful, embarrassing, humiliating - they've damaged the club badly today and I hope they fucking rot
  10. I don't recognize this club at the moment we are now officially fergies little bitches Ayre, you should be ashamed of yourself, you have pissed on the legacy of this club, dropping your trousers to please some fucked up media witch-hunt - gutless, spineless, disgusting we're now being told who we can and can't shake hands with and Evra, well he can start a ruck at half-time and incite the crowd at full-time and nothing is said, where are the 2 FA charges or does he get let off because he is black? If this decision was mandated by the owners then fuck them and their little bitch Ayre, it is everything that Liverpool is not, slaves to some morally repugnant PR machine that steamrolls over real debate when it smells blood and by god have they got their victim in Suarez Suarez tweeted yesterday that "everything was not as it seems" so obviously he was pissed off about something and suddenly today he is apologising - smacks of being forced to do it and if I was him I'd be planning my Summer move right now after being treated so disgracefully here in England by the media, opposition fans and now the decision-makers at our own club this is embarrassing, humiliating and wrong, we've hung this lad out to dry and that's not who we are at all, fuck you ayre you gutless prick and kenny maybe has been fucked over by the owners here too they couldn't have handled this any worse, either back us to the hilt and put a stop to it early, don't back massively then drop your trousers and fergie and gordon taylor and various inbred braindead media pundits have their say - this is not Liverpool, Suarez hasn't disgraced himself or the club, these statements have
  11. i have criticised kuyt in the past for his ability or lack thereof but for commitment and attitude the guy is a+ every time and that's why he'll always be respected by the fans it was great to see skrtel, agger and reina defend our man on enemy ground like that skrtel has grown so much this season, he was also the lad who told evra to get fucked at half-time when he tried to antagonise Suarez again, I like the way Pepe gets stuck in too, during Evra's faux outrage at the non-handshake with Suarez, pepe just gently shoved him in the chest and told him to get on with it, these players are men, we need more of this type, bellamy is another - lads who'll scrap and fight to the last for the club on top of all that, i'm sad to say of all our squad, only three have performed consistently this season, agger, skrtel, bellamy and enrique and even enrique has faded the last couple of games - that's a shocking hit ratio, 4 out of a squad of 20+.....we need more scrappers and fighters and leaders reina, skrtel, agger, lucas, bellamy and suarez can't carry the club...they need help, time for others to step up and show some fucking character and grab that fourth spot which is there for the taking, sad thing is i don't think they're up to it
  12. no league game until March, jesus that's a long time to stew over that fiasco of a performance, a really gutless spineless performance that will be overshadowed by the handshake thing but it was abysmal, anyway don't give up hope just yet, check our our remaining fixtures: 3 Mar 2012 Barclays Premier League Arsenal H 12:45 10 Mar 2012 Barclays Premier League Sunderland A 15:00 17 Mar 2012 Barclays Premier League QPR A 15:00 24 Mar 2012 Barclays Premier League Wigan H 15:00 April 2012 1 Apr 2012 Barclays Premier League Newcastle A 13:30 7 Apr 2012 Barclays Premier League Aston Villa H 15:00 9 Apr 2012 Barclays Premier League Blackburn A 15:00 14 Apr 2012 Barclays Premier League Fulham H 12:45 21 Apr 2012 Barclays Premier League West Brom H 15:00 28 Apr 2012 Barclays Premier League Norwich A 15:00 May 2012 5 May 2012 Barclays Premier League Chelsea H 15:00 13 May 2012 Barclays Premier League Swansea A 15:00 our run-in is certainly, on paper, not that difficult but I don't think we'll get fourth, arsenal and chelsea at home to come and a lot of so-called easier games but but but if we purchased a decent striker, a decent winger and decent defensive midfield cover in January then I'd be confident but we didn't we'll continue to drop points our signings last summer were poor, even Enrique is looking dodgy in recent games but Downing, Carroll, Henderson and Adam have all failed this season to varying degrees - maybe that's part of the reason we didn't get more reinforcements in during the window, owners maybe weren't convinced the comolli/dalglish partnership wouldn't blow it on average players again (can't even blame Macia) the racism/media thing is now becoming a chore, the angle is that Suarez is the devil and any attempt to explain/justify what he has done/not done means you are condoning racism, when the media have a fashionable pc cause on their side then they can be particularly fascist in steamrolling any sensible or reasonable debate over the issue so in February, I am sad to say our season has been a disaster on and off the field, a Carling cup and 6th place will probably be what we end up with - not sure if that's good enough to stop Kenny from being gently shunted upstairs, especially after all the money spent I am tired of the excuses now, we look a very average side recently after a decent first half to the season, only Skrtel, Agger and Enrique can look back on the season with pride, think about that, three players, just three players who have delivered consistently, shocking!...no doubt we are light years advanced from Roy Hodgson's universe but we still should be doing much better...hope there is big improvement in the rest of the season but with no new players coming in and the off-field issues hanging over us and all our big money signings failing time after time with the odd ok performance thrown in (Downing still zero goals and zero assists, that's what you get for 20 million) I have to say I am not very hopeful but as I always say, I hope they prove me wrong just quite disappointed really as it seems we'll need a big transition again this Summer and the splurge on British players in the last year was an unmitigated disaster yet we are all still hoping they'll come good and restore our faith but i just don't think they're good enough Adam, henderson, downing and carroll are perhaps this generation's diouf/diao/cheyrou and the money wasted on them and time spent hoping they'll come good could cost us 2-3 years before we are back fighting with the big boys again
  13. ferguson has fuelled a lot of the hatred between the clubs in recent times, yes there was always rivalry but some of his comments have made things a hell of a lot worse, from the knock them off the perch thing to countless other derogatory comments about pool players and results down through the years, to this year accusing suarez of being a diver to today saying liverpool should get rid of him and he's a disgrace and then he has the gall to say man u have showed dignity and class throughout the whole affair....here's a simple little instruction fergie, don't talk about opposition clubs/players, it is none of your concern so shut it or you will only inflame things even further which you say is something you don't want, incredibly hypocritical if you ask me oh and in all of this kerfuffle few have mentioned the key problem, I think it boils down to a lack of communication between the clubs; nobody knew who was willing to shake hands with who and if they would reciprocate and who would initiate contact and how high or outreached the hand would be etc etc, with so much ego and pride and bitterness at stake it was a recipe for disaster, they should have sat down and agreed on what would happen and not leave things uncertain like that - liverpool requested a meeting with Man U to talk things over and come to some kind of resolution so that relations wouldn't detoriate even further between the two clubs, what was fergusons's response - "I do not see why there is any need for it" yet don't expect anybody in the media to pick him up on this, half of them are in his pocket and the other half are too cowed and spineless to take on the old man
  14. not an option.....an insider says junior's the one
  15. the last two were the tip of the iceberg, it certainly wasn't earth-shattering before that and my doubts were growing with each passing draw I believe our quest for CL is finished and the season is a failure I believe the most we will get, and I am being hugely optimistic here is 35 points from our remaining 16 fixtures meaning Chelsea will have to get under 30 points from those 16 fixtures for us to overcome them (assuming we play very well until the end of the season), it also requires arsenal not averaging more than 2 points a game which is more probable but still not definite in short i would be stunned if the 4 CL qualifiers weren't man c, man u. sours, chelsea
  16. for all my disappointment and criticism of the players/signings, that's all fine and dandy but we have what we have, so the two issues that maybe we can affect at the moment are a) will kids get a chance before the end of the season? (if we win carling cup and fade even further from fourth there is zero excuse for not throwing them in) b) are the owners willing to spend/do they trust comolli/kenny to spend wisely? as beantown red has alluded to, net they haven't actually spent that much, with a lot of outgoings and wage bill reduction and the torres fee - so now that we are looking in desperate need of at least three reinforcements (pacy incisive winger, defensive midfield, goalscorers) will they sign the cheques? they look like taking the cheap option on the stadium and we are being linked only with project players, loans and average players for the time being so are they willing to spend? I wouldn't say this is the beginning of H&G mark 2 just yet but certainly I am beginning to have my doubts about how great their investment will be and if they realise the scale of the problem - but as I said they could just say that don't want kenny/comolli to waste any more money. and before someone chimes in and says they said they'd only invest what the club earned, that is not strictly true and was taken out of context, I believe that was said as a long-term aspiration but to get us from also-rans to league contenders they'll have to take a hit, in any case didn't we just hear of a potential 300 million pound kit deal this week and with naming rights on their way for the stadium, there should be plenty of cash around but a) will they spend? and b) will they let comolli and kenny waste any more of their dosh?
  17. strong words from kenny but will he act on them? was it more to appease the fans or will he actually take action only player showing the requisite fury and never say die attitude is bellamy, previously it was suarez, add to that the back four has been decent and everyone else has disappointed to one degree or another so will he take action? words are one thing but let's see what happens kids getting a chance a few new signings without british passports if possible i won't hold my breath the players might have gotten a kick up the arse and they might lift themselves for the manchester cup games but then I have little doubt we'll dip again for the sunderlands and qpr's of this world - the squad doesn't have enough players with the necessary bottle and fury to do it over a season, in short we lack winners
  18. who would take him off us now? one thing about rafa was if he bought a turd, he'd sell it quickly at a loss instead of hoping it came good i fear kenny is hoping the likes of downing and carroll prove him right but the fact is they are already massive failures and continuing to put our faith in them is damaging the team but who would take these two average overpriced jokers? we might get 10 million for carroll and maybe 5 for downing and you know what, even at a combined loss of 40 million in a season I'd take it, that's how bad they are, and you know something else we might struggle even to get bids of that size for those two - truly horrific signings
  19. the last two performances have thoroughly disillusioned me...previous to that our results weren't great but at least we were creating chances but we look abysmal lately, completely devoid of ideas and imagination I started a thread a few months ago saying that with Lucas gone and with our current midfield options we had no chance of fourth, I said our options at midfield could be equated with a midtable side and I was slated by some but we do look relatively weak there...and then after lucas got injured, we lose Suarez for a good chunck of the season thanks to the troika of FA/slur/evra and now we have nothing up front Are we that bad? Two players down and we are looking so average. yes, we might go and produce performances against the manchester sides in the next two games and you'll have people calling the critics whoppers etc. and then we'll have inevitable dropped points in the league against the sunderlands and qpr's of this world as we struggle to get sixth place are we happy with sixth? people will make the usual excuses, it's a season of transition, next year is our year, we've had players put, bad luck etc but simply put, it's not good enough we were onto a winner last season, with maxi and meireles and suarez all interlinking nicely, neat pass and move football and what do we do, we screw it all up with slow plodding wingers and slow so called set piece specialist midfielders and slow ungainly technically poor targetmen - I've said it before and I'll say it again, the 55 million on downing and carroll is every bit as damaging as houlliers diouf/diao/cheyrou 20 million splurge about 10 years ago I have no faith we'll get a champions league spot I have no faith we'll get the necessary players to improve us this window and I am beginning to think the owners are losing faith in the decision-making of comolli/kenny/ayre with their overpriced buy british signings who have already depreciated in value by more than 50% and the haphazard way we handled the Suarez affair - and then of course we are still waiting on stadium news and probably going to go with the cheap soulless option Yes i know it's better than it was under Hicks and Gillette (well everything is better apart from results which are just as average if not worse) but that argument doesn't wash How many false dawns have we had in recent times? I am not sure that Kenny is the right choice as manager, I think he would be better suited in some kind of ambassadorial role like bobby charlton at Man U - I think Kenny is to blame for the shocking signings in the last year not Comolli, Comolli himself had said he presents Kenny/the owners with a list of targets and Kenny has the final say - as much as I love the man he has majorly fecked up with the money spent in the last year, do the owners trust him to spend in this window or will they simply quietly shift him upstairs at the end of the season after a disappointing sixth place finish? and how much are the owners willing to spend because the ugly truth is we now need yet another overhaul of the playing squad with at last three or four top quality players necessary for us to challenge to top 4 at a cost of about 100 million, and dumping our failures will only get us in about 20-30 million so are they willing to hand out another 70 million net and will whoever is choosing our targets get it right and will top class targets want to come to a club out of the CL for a third successive year??? yes, i know the superfans will criticise this post and say "back the team" etc. but what they fail to realise is that it's because I back the team so much that I feel it necessary to say these painful things and agitate for change and what the superfans don't realise is that the whole "liverpool way" thing, being dignified and gallant and stoic and backing the team and manager no matter what might just be the most damaging thing of all. so how bad is it? pretty bloody awful at the moment and yes we'll turn it on every now and then, but in the last 20 years we have had maybe 2 or 3 seasons when we were even close to challenging for the title and we can be as gallant and dignified as we like but that isn't Liverpool football club and if it means I am a prick or a cock for calling us on our mediocrity, inconsistency and lack of backbone then so be it, I want to see more of the "Bellamy" and "Suarez" spirit at Liverpool - most of the rest of them are just hangers-on, temporary frauds in the red shirt, they should all be willing to die on the field for this great club but we have bought the wrong players and got it wrong again, change is needed again, throw some kids in for the rest of the season-see who can hack it, spend big in the summer and maybe get a radical young coach in there and we might just be sniffing around for league honours again, continue as we are, buying british and patting ourselves on the back when we get the odd big team scalp here and there and we are going nowhere fast and fast fading from the legacy of the club in accepting such mediocrity it's ok not to accept this, this isn't where Liverpool should be
  20. huh? I can understand people writing off kuyt and even carroll to an extent, but teenagers who haven't even played a senior game yet - a tad harsh I feel, give them a chance yes we have been burned by the likes of partridge, nemeth and pacheco in the past, but that doesn't mean these kids won't make it where is this "lull in development" thing coming from? what is bothering you so much? Is it because they haven't managed to grow goatees yet or something, give the kids a couple more years yet - we're getting awful impatient and critical, and i can understand it especially with first teamers who we paid millions for and have lots of premier league experience but let's go easy on the young lads who have done nowt wrong
  21. the formula was working last season, suarez, meirles, maxi and even kuyt backed up by lucas playing neat, intricate, incisive football what happans? we spend a fair whack and end up with a side that is possibly worse kenny got it wrong with the transfers, he wanted to have his cake and eat it, the neat interplay and the game based on width and skillful wingers banging it in to a target man, one or the other kenny, not a halfway house that works for nobody downing and carroll for 55 million looks an absolute disaster that could set us back for years a la diouf/diao/cheyrou to turn it around we need the owners to release big funds again but after the disaster of the summer spend, are they willing to trust kenny to spend it? I forsee changes in the dynamic of comolli and kenny with perhaps comolli being able to overrule kenny on signings int he near future, expect to hear rumblings of that in the papers soon......i have no problem with that, kenny screwed up with the summer signings, it's time to admit that, we either fix it quickly and invest in quality players or we sit back and be content with 6th and hope the players will come good, they won't - they are what they are, decent functional but lacking imagination and creativity and the ability to create something out of nothing, players like suarez and gerrard win you titles, not the likes of downing and carroll and henderson and adam we dismantled a good side last season, spent big on average players who have failed to deliver, our best attacking force has been mired in controversy and targetted by the establishment, our best midfielder is injured and our big signings haven't stepped up quite honestly the team that finished last season looked a better unit than this lot and played a better style of football, who would have that team back? a lot of us i'd say yet we spunked about 80 million for what looks like a downgrade time to fix things, we are not awful, just misguided and imbalanced 1. settle on a set way of playing football and but the players for that style of play, commit to it, don't fanny about with formations and mixing and matching players and playing styles and roles, sell those who don't fit in and buy those who do 2. look away from the english market and towards the continent 3. get in a creative wide player and a striker who can finish and a defensive midfielder for starters this window - at least then we'll have a slim chance of getting fourth, continue as we are and it's zero chance 4. this summer, we will re-evaluate the role of Kenny, maybe he is better suited to an upstairs role
  22. jaysus, a 20 million loss in one season still we have to be clever and if have to cut our losses then we should do, getting 12 million for robbie keane looks like great business in hindsight if newcastle went 20 million plus and they should, the cheeky bastards, after arseraping us last January then I'd be very tempted but only on condition that we have TWO strikers lined up
  23. come on guys - stop abusing each other, we're all reds i'd be happy with three signings this window, striker, wideman and defensive midfielder - 40 million should get some decent players and we can recoup a bit by selling kuyt and factoring in the sales of cole and aquilani, exchange deals might also lower prices
