  1. The lad needs to grow a bit but I don't think the height factor is a massive issue given the position he plays. He'll broaden out naturally and the gym work he'll be doing will ensure he strengthens up. With a lowish centre of gravity he's going to hard to knock off the ball especially as most full backs won't even see which way he went. A combination of burn-out and injuries (touch wood) are the only potential barriers to him tearing the EPL a new arsehole a few years down the line, as far as I can see. Pity that cunt at Utd has retired.
  2. Well, I've got a couple of years on you at 46 and I'm 6'00'' and about 13 stone - not in too bad a shape for an arlarse who likes a bevvy. I run regularly and enjoy the half marathon distance of which I've got about 12 or so under my belt. I've done a marathon before but it was twenty odd years ago - the last one they held in Liverpool I think - did it in 3.32. Went through the half way stage in an hour and 25 and blew up on the second lap. Unfortunately I left my marathon time on the long training run I'd done the week before. I'd be made up with 4 hours and that's the target time at the moment.
  3. The course is mostly flat and takes in 3 parks (Birkenhead, Sefton and Princes) and the entire length of Wallasey Promenade from New Brighton to Seacombe. It then goes through the Birkenhead tunnel, down the Strand and up Upper Parly at about 15 miles which isn't going to be fun before looping around Sefton Park with the finish back at the Pier Head. Not looking for a time - survival will do.
  4. Taking my beloved to the game tonight as a special treat for Valentine's. I'm good to that girl. Anybody aware of any team news specifically with regard to Wisdom and Ngoo?
  5. Not sure I'm looking forward to it as such but good to have the target and a bit of motivation to get some serious training in over the summer.
  6. Signed up for it this morning. Also considering the half marathon in March and the tunnel 10k in June as part of the training programme. Course for the big one looks a belter - anybody else having a crack?
  7. Kenny's last spell as manager coincided exactly with our ban and this will be his first time managing us in Europe. Hopefully the first of many. Anybody off here making the trip next week? Alternatively, anybody been to Prague more recently than the Liberec game?
  8. Tie to be played by Sat 29th. Derby play Southend on Wed 26th and as Anfield is free on the Sat I would imagine it will be 12.00 as per the Palace game.
  9. They look a better team than the Owen/Carragher/Thompson team from 96 as well. And more importantly they have a number of outstanding individuals capable of making our first team over the next year or two. Hopefully Ngoo and Norman Wisdom back for the next round.
  10. This. Xabi, Masch and Bob. 5 (at least) successive poor transfer windows business wise and a lack of quality coming out of Kirkby and the Ressies.
  11. I know what you're saying and four years ago I'd have loved to see him in a Liverpool shirt but in the here and now he's still got everything to prove. He's on massive wages by all accounts, taking a place in the squad and potentially blocking Pacheco's development so the negatives far outweigh the positives as far as I'm concerned.
  12. The basic issue with Cole is that he's fucking shite.
  13. Kenny's first selection and I've been told that Wilson's getting a start and Johno is right mid with Kelly in behind. Pepe Kelly Agger Skrtel Wilson Johnson Lucas Meireles Maxi Kuyt Torres
  14. Easy Tiger. Wasn't having a pop at you but rather the pathetic attempts of the Arsenal heirachy to generate an atmosphere at what is a soulless, corporate-infested concrete bowl in N London.
  15. The won't have much of a problem creating a better atmosphere then the Emirates will they? The Wonder of You. Arf!
  16. Reserves are playing Sunderland this afternoon at the Academy and Banton's on the bench. Just turned 18 and apparently a very good goal scoring record for Blackburn at U18 level
  17. Anyone fancy a go on the Big One? Fnarr, Fnarr!
  18. I went when we drew 1-1 there in 2002-03. It was lively and you had to be on your toes coming out the ground but other than that sound. Not a patch on the Inonu for atmosphere.
  19. The proof of the pudding and all that - here's hoping. I've got serious hopes for both fullbacks - I know Robinson has had the plaudits but I thought Flanagan was excellent on Saturday - Wisdom, Coady, Sterling, Silva and obviously Suso as far as making the step up to our first team is concerned. Not seen much of Ngoo or Adam Morgan so couldn't really offer a valid opinion.
