  1. Bump. No game this weekend so no excuse for any locals not to get themselves to Anfield - although the kick-off time is a bit of a pisser. 12.00pm £4 in the Kop pay on the gate. No Jack Robbo or Ngoo but the rest of the lads are worth £4 of anyone's cash and this team deserves to play in front of a decent crowd. Plus - you might just get to see the mancs torn a new arsehole for the second time in a week.
  2. Number of issues for me the key one probably being the lack of a ball winner in midfield: their last title winning team had Vieira and Flamini in the middle and I don't think they've had anything similar since. Sometimes I think you've got to sacrifice a bit of the aesthetic for getting the job done and Wenger seems unwilling to bend.
  3. Lions are shit. Those one's they've got at Chester Zoo just lie on that wooden platform thing. I've never seen one of them so much as twitch never mind actually bother its arse to move. Tigers are sound.
  4. Wenger proves once again that he can't adapt tactics to suit the way the match is going: Bendtner is a poor player at that level but as soon as Arsenal were chasing the game late on it should have been him on the pitch rather than Arshavin - Busquets is no centre half and the only time they put any pressure on him he scored an og. Arshavin, Rosicky, Fabregas and Nasri are all to some degree the same player - Nasri was the only threat Arsenal carried all night yet was totally isolated even before the sending off - he should've been central with the big lummox. Fabregas and V Persie both looked unfit and shouldn't have been on the pitch - again error of judgement by Wenger and he should be hung out to dry for it. Why the fuck was Wenger wearing a sleeping bag? As Sir Roger said earlier in the thread - Barca are easy to admire but I find them difficult to like - probably goes back to the 76 UEFA semi. Glad they're still in it though as I want to see them twat the mancs.
  5. Yep - I'd expect the midfield and up front to be unchanged from the last two rounds. Presuming that Andre will come in for either McGiveron or Sama and the aussie full back (Brad Smith?) will replace Robinson if he hasn't recovered from his injury.
  6. He looks a decent player and seems to have improved dramatically over the last 12 months. But I actually think the Youth team (FA Youth Cup as opposed to the Academy side) would function better without him in that it would allow Suso to play as a proper number 10 rather than wide.
  7. Thought you were on about Tit Monday when I saw the title of the thread but maybe we're a month early......
  8. My understanding is that there has always been a limited number of season tickets available via the Corporate Department and that the number varies from season to season as the existing ticketholders choose to renew or not. My Mrs runs her own company and was contacted by the Club a few years ago asking did she want a pair of Upper Centenary season tickets, with a meal and match programme thrown in - from memory they were around £2,000 a pop. May have been one such ticket in the instance you're on about.
  9. Mate of mine has been told both that he's on the list and that he's not on the list when he's enquired about it so there could well be more than one list. How fucking difficult is it to keep a list of names for Christ's sake? For those waiting I think an announcement can only be a good thing because it shows that FSG are addressing the issue and not treating the support like the cunts Parry did. Obviously they're only doing it because in the long run they want your money but that's the name of the game.
  10. I am not sure there ever was a comprehensive waiting list with a full list of names and addresses in application order - It was like every other off-field issue in the Moores/Parry era - a Grade A shambles. My sister's lad went on the list the day he was born - 26/01/91 - and has never heard a thing from the club. An announcement from the club will hopefully provide some clarity for those wanting a season ticket and may mean that a decision regarding the stadium is imminent.
  11. Braga tie has been reversed and we're away first. 10th and 17th March.
  12. 4th round in 84/85 Not thought about that game in ages. Wasn't snow it was frost I think and despite the undersoil heating the game was in doubt almost up to kick off.
  13. Forest in the league game December 1978. They were on a 42 match unbeaten run and had knocked us out the European Cup at Anfield in the September. The Kop gates were locked before 2 0'clock and the place was absolutely rammed. The Forest team came onto the pitch about 2.15 all suited and booted and walked slowly down towards the Kop in what could only have been an orchestrated attempt to wind the place up and it worked. It went fucking mental. I've still not heard noise like it at Anfield since - not even Chelsea in 05 - and there was still 45 minutes to go before kick off. A Terry Mac brace - including a pen - took care of business. Fuck 'em all, Fuck 'em all At Anfield the Forest will fall Cos we won't be mastered By Cloughie's red bastards Cos we are the cream of them all
  14. Jim did us proud as a player - will always be fondly remembered for his bullet header against Panathinaikos in the 85 semi at the Kop end. Would have made many more appearances for the club but for that cunt Stevens (great celebration when Rushie scored the winner in the 85th though - almost fell out the old Upper Park End). As far as co-commentators / pundits in general are concerned there are so many more deserving of our contempt there's hardly the time or space to compose the list.
  15. Good effort to sell out given the kick-off time etc Liverpool 1 (Kyrgiakos) - Sparta 2 (Leonidas, Dienekes)
  16. Apparently the 16s are decent as well (I know RAWK gets a fair bit of shite on here and rightly so sometimes but their Youth/Reserves thread is a belter and a decent source of info). Watched the highlights of the 18s game against Stoke last night and it was a nice thought that we could in theory have put Wisdom, Ngoo, Suso, Robbo, Flanno and Barton into that team. With all due respect to Stoke with the above players on the pitch the 18s could perhaps have replicated the 10-1 scoreline the 16s beat the same opposition by. Be interesting to see how the new lad from Cov, Connor Thomas, got on against HTFC though I understand he's cup tied as far as the Youth Cup is concerned. Exciting times ahead and hopefully they'll start being introduced gradually from pre-season. As has been said above this lot can potentially save the club a packet over the next two years and ensure that what funds are made available by FSG are targetted on a low number of high quality players in areas we are currently lacking.
  17. The game against the shite is going to be massive now as we're catching up fast and appear to be on a bit of a roll.
  18. Just been told that he's not responded to an initial injection and so has had another which definitely rules him out of the next two games. I presume Kenny will be doing a press conference tomorrow for the Sparta game and no doubt one of the journalists will quiz hime on Stevie's injury. Just passing on a rumour - from a normally reliable source - and if I'm talking shite I'll be happy to hold my hands up.
  19. Apologies if posted elsewhere but there's a text doing the rounds to the effect that Gerrard's groin injury has not responded to treatment (by injection) and he's definitely out of Sparta and WHU. Looking doubtful for the Munsters as well apparently. The good news is that provided there are no adverse reactions to the work Carroll is doing this week he's expected to be in full training early next week.
  20. Try Askaprice.com Company based in town and you can put the model details and spec into their website and they'll find you a quote. Don't drive myself but the Mrs leases and uses these and won't go back to buying.
