  1. Nail on the head for me. He's was legitimately the best right back in the world a few seasons ago, in my opinion anyway. He had some defensive flaws sure but generally you'd bet on him to get back and make it difficult for the opposition if not outright kill their attack. Problem is, he doesn't seem to care too much about that anymore. There was an interview that went round either early this season or late last one where Trent himself basically says "I've changed the game so I can't be held to the old standard". So that says he thinks he's above it all and that's all well and good from a confidence perspective but if he can't be bothered to do the job as a right back I'd personally hate to see him try to cope with our midfield work. We've been crying out for able and willing bodies in midfield all season. Trent is definitely able, but I'm not sure he's willing. This hybrid role works to a point with everyone fit but I have my doubts that it works consistently over a season with players coming in and out of the side. I also think we can only use it when Trent is fit enough to play, if he's hurt or needs rest then we would likely have to change the way we play.
  2. Commentators on Paramount not liking the wave off, Roma player gets the slightest of touches on the ball but he does get the ball as it clearly changes direction. Having said that I don't think Taylor is quite as lenient when he does a PL game.
  3. I didn't noticed Fab's "tackle" attempt on their 3rd live so I just watched it again and whilst I agree it's a bad effort, I think it summed up the attitude of the day from most of the players on the pitch particularly the ones that don't explicitly know it was their last game for the club. If the game was played last week with CL potentially still on the cards I think Fabinho takes him out ball or no ball, whilst as the case was today I just think he thought "what's the point?" Business decision as they say in the NFL. Trent did similar for their first goal, didn't dive in nor sell out to block the shot but just kind of half arsed turned away once he realized he wasn't getting there whilst on his feet. Gomez on the other hand would've kept running backwards right into Kelleher or the goal if Sulemana hadn't shot when he did, he never ever looked like he wanted any part of closing him down.
  4. Not a fan of these lofted balls at all and it doesn’t really matter who hits them, they’re all shit
  5. Gomez does know you have to close down the ball at some point right?
  6. Definitely made a “business decision” on that attempt at a block.
  7. I've heard interviews with Bobby speaking english, mostly those PR pieces they do though where they ask players questions about eachother and such. Based on that I think he probably speaks and understands enough English to speak to his teammates and about football related stuff but he's just not confident in his overall ability to speak it with the longer form stuff or where he wants to make sure he's understood completely. Also I don't know if he just doesn't like dealing with the media but if that is the case it's a pretty convenient excuse to not have to do it.
  8. Ref with the bail out yellow to someone who doesn’t matter
  9. Bobby’s unveiled his new drop kick goal on his last day what a legend! 10 minutes too, can’t believe I called that.
  10. There should be about 10 minutes of added time with the way these have been laying on the floor all half.
  11. When Jota has too much time to think before shooting that tends to happen. Ball needed to be a bit more in front of him, not that it was a bad ball mind.
  12. I think that's what it is for me too. Most transfer news now is a bunch of nonsense links from off-brand sites using player x and club y to generate traffic and therefore ad revenue for themselves. Sure some of them turn out to be right when it's all said and done but I can't imagine most of them get anywhere near a decent percentage of their speculation correct except for the glaringly obvious ones like Haaland to city last summer. I suppose it could've always been like that and I was just younger so more inclined to get carried away with it. In any case it just feels like a waste of time reading the speculation until the club or a few very specific journos (who even then also get it wrong at times) having something to say about it.
  13. Thanks for that! I thought it was McManaman until he started talking about Ashley Cole keeping him out of the England side and then had no idea who it was.
  14. I was ready to ship him out but he’s really turned it around in the last 5-6 games by scoring goals which is about the only thing he seems to do really well and also the most important part of his job so I suppose it works out.
  15. I think Jota is meant to be some big time FIFA player himself so I just figured it had to do with that.
  16. I don't think Jones actually believed that ball was getting to him
  17. Agree with all of this except I thought Fabinho was good in the second half. Won the ball back, recycled possession. Not exactly world beating quality but he wasn't shit like he has been for most of the season. I also think Konate's mistake is not all on him. Salah should've never gave him the ball back there. Konate's passed it out wide to relieve pressure only for Salah to immediately send him the ball back. Of course a professional footballer should be able to have a better touch but I can see why he hesitated. If he doesn't just hoof it immediately (which in hindsight he should've but it's not how we play) then he's got to pass it to either the Alisson or Virg and Virg was already pressured.
