I think you are being a bit picky here, so let me spell it out. I don't think Chris Eagles is good enough at this or any age and I'm surprised that we are debating whether a player of his level is good enough for our club. Someone once said to me - if you settle for 2nd best, that is what you will get. This club has settled for that for years now and you mention Chris Eagles. :wallbutt:

I'm not sneering of the fact we would buy from a "lower" club, merely pointing out what we have become. Chris Eagles cannot even get a regular starting berth at Burnley. Football in the 70's and 80's was so different, players find their "level" at a much younger age now so I don't think we can compare the signings of Keegan,Rush,Barnes etc. But maybe you would settle for Chris Eagles. I know I wouldn't. Each to their own

Not sure whether it has been mentioned yet - just to go back to the press thing, How much exposure have the Green & Gold movement from the mancs got in comparison to us?? BBC news did a big story on them the other week, and The One Show ( which the missus likes ) did a big 10 minute story on them on Friday. Their movement is moving along cos they are getting a lot more exposure than us, showing that the press will cover anything to do with them, whilst we are labelled small time, minority of supporters. Sadly this also contributes to the apathy of our own fans

I think we need to stick by Rafa, he deserves to go but I wouldnt trust our current "custodians" or MD to make the right choice for next Manager. Lots of people seem to think Kenny is the answer til the end of season and then Maureen/Hiddink etc. Would Kenny want it?? ( lets be fair, he had trouble coping with pressure 20 years ago, the pressure is 10 fold now!!!) If any top Manager made themselves available there would be more than Liverpool chasing their signature ( What can we offer them, a split club, no money, below par squad) I'm scared that we will end up with some Megson/Curbishley/Bassett esque Manager as they will be the only ones who would come here on a shoe string. None of thsi will get better until the Yanks have fucked off and it seems they will only do this on their terms. Unfortunately I think we will lose Gerrard in the summer, deffo Masch and possibly Torres.( all for different reasons) Yanks and Purslow dont care about trophies or even good football - They want to get the debt down so they can sell with a healthier profit. Sorry for the doom mongering.

Just been to the game - have been a season ticket holder for over 20 years. On my seat in permanent black marker was written "96, i'm glad " I brought this to the attention of a steward and was then visited by a member of the cleaning staff. I explained that it wasnt there last Wednesday and asked if maybe a cleaning company or something had been in since. they said that all the cleaners are Liverpool fans and have promised to remove it before the Wigan game. Love to have a chat with who did this Still some idiots about eh!!!

Our squad ( as it stands ) should be good enough to keep us in the top 4 - But this club exists to win trophies and i for one dont think 4th is good enough for this club. We should not settle for 2nd ( or 4th ) best Sadly, we will not win anything under the yanks as that is not what interests them

I think a lot of people on here have very short memories. Rafa has done wonders for us. Remember the days of Souness and Evans when we were hoping for 4th place on the last day of the season. Would any other decent manager take the job with the yanks in charge???
